Numeracy is racist!

Since we obviously stole it from the Arabs, how long will it take for our numeric system to be completely banned from Western schools? Probably not that long, given current trends.

Oxford has announced it is “decolonizing” computer science courses over alleged slavery links to machine learning.

The faculty, one of the oldest computer science centers in the UK, says there is “a growing awareness” that “new technologies can have adverse effects on individuals, communities and whole societies”.

No revolution, however, would be complete without eating its own children:

But the department, headed by Prof Leslie Ann Goldberg, has come under fire for being “colonized” itself by American radical critical racial theories.

  1. There is, of course, only one solution. All “woke” leftists MUST commit voluntary suicide. First, your continued breathing and eating is DESTROYING the planet. Second, your white privilege perpetuates racism, trans and homophobia not to mention every time you use your iPhone, whether it’s typing in a search engine or text or ordering a venti soy milk fair trade sustainably sourced carbon neutral latte, or, Gaia forbid, READING, that most colonialist of languages, ENGLISH, on your Facebook page, you are nothing more than an OPRESSOR. Don’t you even THINK about getting in that Tesla!

Rest assured, your continued vote in the most secure elections ever will be duly noted by the correct choice.

  2. Perhaps they can teach computer science in cuneiform?

Or use the Mayan vigesimal system?

    Hieroglyphs anyone?

Of course all of these math systems were from cultures which had slaves.

    1. Joe – I rather think the Mayans used a 12-based numerical system as opposed to our 10-based system. Can see how ours developed, given the number of fingers and thumbs most people have, but a 12-based numerical system has a lot going for it, not the least being that it has a lot more numbers where division creates whole numbers (I know I’m not saying this very well but the example is 10 which is divisible by 1, 2, and 5 to produce whole numbers whereas 12 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6). A 12-based numerical system would have been much simpler than our current decimal system. Interesting, our clocks are all 12-based.

    1. Absolutely.
Ban all devices that use the binary system, which was obviously stolen from the first culture to come up with words for “Yes” and “No”.

  3. Sounds like they are bending over backwards having their heads up their asses, however unlikely that may be.

  4. “Since we obviously stole it from the Arabs,” IT being our number system and simple maths.
Zero and place value were in use in India 600 years before Arab (pirate) traders adopted them. It may have been Arabs who introduced modern number theory to second millennium Europe but the Arabs typically grabbed and traded upon that which was made by others.

  5. The Arabs stole it from the Indians. I’m quite thankful to the Indians for their system. Can you imagine having to multiply LIX by XXII?

  6. The depth and breadth of mental illness in “modern” society is simply unfathomable. Lemmings, throwing themselves onto the rocks below.

  7. Funny how it’s racist to use anything that originated in non-white societies, but not racist for non-white societies to use whatever they want that came from white societies.

  8. The Khmer Rouge believed that only the illiterate peasant could run the new Kampuchea. Only obedience to the party, not an actual education, mattered.

I’m sure that has no bearing on the article above.
