  1. Horrifying-
    plastic straws!

But the actual Pizza Hut ad in the middle with stretchy mozzarella was fun. Was that planned or serendipity?

    1. Ward… cover him in cheese sauce? It would be a refreshing change from blackface.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Then Canada could have their very own Orange Man Bad.

Forget the pitchforks. Just go after Sparkle Socks with the torches and Velveeta cheese.

  2. Saw an item a few months ago, I forget what site but they compared the ad photos with what people actually got, not even close in all instances.

  3. I think most of the fake is from the 5 minute crafts. Of course advertisers do what it takes to make their stuff look as good as possible. That doesn’t mean they’re using all of these techniques. I still wouldn’t eat the food after a photo shoot.
When they got to the napkin trick and the synthetic fibers in a muffin then i was done.

Just because it’s on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true.

    1. This stuff is true. I remember seeing a documentary on this in 1988 that outlined the exact same tricks. Some of my high school buds went into TV/movie tech and have confirmed this.

A lot of it is that under studio conditions most real food looks awful: the heat from the lights wilts the food, milk tends to look blueish under halogens, after ten takes that roast turkey is going to look inedible, etc. There’s nothing particularly new about this video, but people do seem to be more credulous in general about media these days.
