I don’t recall that. What I do remember vividly is his wholehearted support of vaccine mandates and the vax passport clearly laid out in the oped column he wrote for the Ottawa Citizen. Sutcliffe is no freedom supporter. He’s merely the lesser of three evils.
The article doesn’t show Sutcliffe supported the convoy but rather his dismay with the government for having let it get to that point. Don’t count him as a friend because he’s not. If the truckers ever return, Sutcliffe will throw everything he can at them to keep them out of Ottawa.
The Ottawa Citizen’s analysis is so way off, it’s not funny.
Indeed. Most of his “team” were associated with the Liberal party; most of McKenny’s were associated with the NDP. Sutcliffe is only a marginally less-awful.
No he did not. The fact is, NONE of the candidates for mayor endorsed the convoy. To those that think that Ottawa elected a centrist candidate, you’re right that they didn’t elect a left-wing lube-job like McKenney, but Sutcliffe, whom I knew personally in another lifetime, and at one time was center-right, has now pivoted toward the center-left, being, believe it or not, further left than one-time Provincial Liberal Minister, and third-place candidate, Bob Chiarelli.
I watched both these candidates’ (Mark and Bob) interview with the Ottawa Citizen editorial board, and I can’t believe how much Mark has shifted to the left.

The inquiry by the province into Ottawa’s mismanagement of the Ottawa subway system construction project will leave a massive shit-stain all over Watson and a fair number of Ottawa city councilors (which is why a lot of incumbents didn’t run either.) Jimbo is done; his gross malfeasance in office cannot be concealed any longer.

Everything does come under the view of God, immediately and finally, and each of us, including Jim Watson, will answer for our actions. So much of the actions and reactions could have been solved with conversation and dialogue, but neither Jim nor Justin wanted to be bothered to serve, but only to rule. And there is the heart of the matter – neither of them consider themselves “civil servants” which starts with civility – courteous behavior. The truckers came a long way to have a conversation and were ignored and spurned publicly by the people whose salaries they pay. They voted on the government’s actions with their livelihoods. A modicum of respect should have been given for such a sacrifice.

Condescending, smug, arrogant compounded by the simple fact that he is a complete fraud in all aspects of his life — political, professional and personal. A man never comfortable in his own skin. Glad he’s finally gone from public life. Hopefully forever.
