They’re breaking about every US and Canadian law there is here regarding police activity, and they are doing it the dumbest way possible. No warrant to be on the private property of the fairgrounds, for starters. Even Feds need a warrant in the USA.
Quite apart from anything else, an obvious cop-car with -Canadian- plates on it, taking pictures in the parking lot of an American gun show? In the USA the Canadian is not a cop. He’s a -tourist-. He is very lucky some irate American dudes didn’t yank him out of the car instead of calling security. Americans are known to do things like that, particularly at gun shows, particularly in Montana where they still think they live in a free country. Arizona would be similar.
The intelligent thing to do would be take pictures of all the cars as they enter the parking lot FROM THE ROAD where A) they are legally allowed to be, and B) where the people attending the gun show have no presumption of privacy, and C) where they can sit with their coffee in their parked cop-car and be completely invisible while taking pictures with an automated camera and a license plate reader. Which they certainly do have, I assure you. In fact, they wouldn’t even have to be in the car. They could just leave it there taking pictures and reading license plates all day long. Legally.
So what are they doing? Cruising the parking lot like car-jackers looking for a score. Genius. And then giving lip to the sheriff’s office as well.
As to the Star Wars girl, all those sh1thead patrolmen were absolved of any wrongdoing. Of course, right? When the police department investigates the police department, everyone is always absolved.

The problem is so bad that employees get randomized work schedules and/or locations. So that Uncle Bindi in his semi will have a harder time knowing which crossing Nephew Amaljit will be on duty at such-and-such a date/time.

I’m going to toss this out as some reality. I’m America and have been to any number of gun shows across the country. They’re fun and always have other things to purchase. Unless, the show is being illegally operated, and one at a fairground will not be, No American from a state other than where the show is being held, can buy a handgun. The shows are set up so that you can enter your form 4473 and get the federal instant background check. In Washington State, where I reside, the State Patrol has to do a further background check on legal purchases. This will add weeks to the wait time. My closest friend here is a retired cop and his retirement id is an automatic concealed carry permit, had to wait nearly a month for state permission to pick up his legally, at a gun shop, purchased pistol. Coming from Canada to Montana will not net you the purchase of a firearm. An illegal sale won’t happen at a gun show.
Maybe, if you can find a criminal willing to do the deal off site. But, that’s unlikely. The entire gun show loophole is a myth. A lie.

A number of years ago the OPP held a big press conference with hundreds of guns on display and headlines screaming that over a hundred criminal charges had been laid as a result of a massive undercover operation. They made it sound as if they had just brought the mafia to its knees.
What had actually taken place was something much less impressive: u/c cops had visited gun shows across the province and sold or bought hunting rifles and shotguns from show attendees without producing their FACs.
