Fauxcahontas

She will be remembered as the greatest. Yes, greater than Elizabeth Warren. Greater even, than Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond. One could say that Sacheen Littlefeather was Oscar worthy.

In one of her final interviews, Littlefeather told The Chronicle that she took the stage at the Oscars because “I spoke my heart, not for me, myself, as an Indian woman but for we and us, for all Indian people … I had to speak the truth. Whether or not it was accepted, it had to be spoken on behalf of Native people.”

But Littlefeather didn’t tell the truth that night. That’s because, according to her biological sisters, Rosalind Cruz and Trudy Orlandi, Littlefeather isn’t Native at all.

“It’s a lie,” Orlandi told me in an exclusive interview. “My father was who he was. His family came from Mexico. And my dad was born in Oxnard.”

“It is a fraud,” Cruz agreed. “It’s disgusting to the heritage of the tribal people. And it’s just … insulting to my parents.”

  1. Being a total fraud seems to be in fashion these days. I can think of some people who claim to be pro-life but not out of any morals based on the sanctity of every human life. They would not hesitate to murder thousands in cold blood based on their ethnic heritage alone. Remind you of anyone?

    1. Once the “othering” is completed, they’re not fully human. So killing them shouldn’t be a crime. Darwinian thought has no rules for this, and those I’ve know who argue that is should all use “everyone needs to follow my ethics and all will be well” but won’t agree that having a book (or multiple books) giving the instructions from God provides a stronger case for a behavior then “I’m smart, and I’m right, so everyone else who is smart will agree with me.”

My experience on pro life / anti-choice differs from yours. If everything with human DNA is human, then pro-life means pro-murder (when the murder is personally convenient).

      1. If you are just as willing to embrace nuclear war as Colon the Moron, then by all means, join his sad pathetic ranks.

        1. If you got that from what I wrote then at least your naming yourself an idiot is correct. I’m a Christian, so consider all human life important. Those who have proven (murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc.) that they aren’t worthy of being considered human anymore.

  2. Far ahead of her time on identity politics. Like how Harvey Weinstein identified as a feminist, so he could never be a sexist abusing a-hole.

Looking at facts and behavior, not at what they say, is such a conservative way to go…

  3. The Hollywood incident was always very strange for 2 reasons:

    (1) Regardless of how much sympathy one has for the historical injustices (and there were many) by the US government reneging on treaties, wiping out their food supply and forcing them onto reserves, the message would have been much more powerful if Marlon Brando himself had delivered the message.

    (2) Starting to wonder if this was some kind of set up by Brando himself, as if he knew he was punking the Academy both with the incident as well as its fraudulent unmasking.

    1. Ironic isn’t it that Brando got one over on Hollywood by using a Mexican Actress portraying an Apache woman. Because all those tanned skinned people look alike. Hell … if Hollywood thought Chuck Connors made a convincing- looking Geronimo … then why not a Meskin Apache?

Or high cheek boned college undergrads getting a FREE RIDE.

  4. So, in other words, she’s less Indian than most of the other Indians … and they’re angry because she’s pretending to be one of them.

So what’s the official cutoff? 75 percent white is still considered Indian, but 76 makes you a whitey? 90 vs 91 percent?

  5. I have a SIL who is 12.5% tomahawk, no card and no special treatment, just one of us’n whities , Oh he is also 25% black, and does not support Black Lies Matter .

    1. Probably works for a living too, so has little truck with identity politics.

Meaning he’s a Canadian or American to most of us. You raised your daughter with good taste.

  6. Faking one’s self is the fashion these days.

    Anyone can be a man/woman/aboriginal/Pikachu.
