Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Air Canada, the CBC of airlines.
For my old job I used to fly all the time and I have come to the conclusion that only saps use Canadian airlines, they are just terrible in every way. Drive down to Detroit or Buffalo and you will have a much better overall experience.
It seems like everything Canada touches turns to sh#t.
We were touring in Europe between July 14 and Aug 8th. Nowhere were we required to wear masks…….at airports, buses, planes, or stores. Seems they already knew that those 7cent blue paper masks were about as effective of trapping a .12 micron virus (or variant thereof) as using a 4 foot chain link fence to keep mosquitoes out of your yard. We got to Heathrow where Trudeau’s mask nazis made us put them on when boarding the Air Canada flight home.
3 weeks ago on my AC flight back to Canada the stewardess nazis were screaming at passengers who’s masks were not covering their noses while they slept. The recording before take-off covered escape procedures along with a warning that anyone who does not comply with the masking rules will be met by police at the gate and charged. Not only was this the only flight of 7 I took across the EU that demanded such BS, but also the only flight where passengers were fighting at the gate, in line to get on, during seating, and when exiting the plane. #1 the rules were BS… #2 WTF is wrong with our people that Canadians fight amongst ourselves on the way home post vacation? I was embarrassed to be on that plane. Shame on you AC for following BS rules and shame on Canadians for being such AssHoles when the seating is assigned and there was plenty of overhead storage room for everyone’s bags. Jesus, they gave you a free glass of wine so calm the F down.
I had the same experience about 5 weeks ago but leaving Canada on AC. Mask Nazi’s like you said. I had my mask down a bit but on my nose and was scolded and when I showed my displeasure ( asked if was for protection from Covid or Monkey Pox ) I was rudely advised if I have a problem then be upfront with it before the door closes. This cow had 2 masks on.
Returning to Canada a few weeks ago from Frankfurt was last leg of trip with AC ticket but Lufthansa plane we we got the mandatory warning / instructions from flight crew but when we took off and drink / meals served I and many other passengers removed masks and did not bother to put the masks on again for remainder of the flight.. and were not harassed to do so.
For travelling to Canada you have limited space at the boarding gate.. So you have to line up and its a mess to get your ArriveCan checked and then do it all over again for boarding. What a mess.
May they rot in Hell for eternity.
…and I’m not saying Just Wet is any better..or the Banks and for that matter, any other corporation on the ENTIRE planet. The entire stinking mass was more than deliriously happy to partake in the WEF sponsored, PMO FASCISM / NAZIism and stand ready to re-invoke more of the same should they be asked….BET on it..!
All 100% complicit.
Yep…they didn’t ‘get a backbone’.
They got ‘permission’ to issue a statement.
My trust in Air Canada is just like my trust in Blackie and his cohort of Lieberals and NDPers: ZERO!
I know 2 cases where they simply lost/can’t find big luggage, it’s 3-4 months now. Despite repeated attempts to have resolution (find or compensate $ value) they couldn’t care less: no replies, if they do reply it’s BS (‘later, we are investigating’). And they do this because gov doesn’t care and doesn’t hold air travel companies to account. Especially Prime Moron’s gov on Montreal’s Air Canada.
They brought to big fanfare “Air Passenger Rights”, and? No one cares.
Eff’em all. Not ready to make nice.
Westjet was the worst. Mask nazi stewardesses screaming at toddlers to mask up. Justin voters all of them. Treat them like it. Don’t forgive. Don’t forget.
I never understood why airlines agreed to enforce this bs to begin with. No one wanted to wear a mask on airplanes. They should have just said we’re not enforcing it.
Aeroflot Canada – we’re not happy until you’re not happy
Brave AC – after the fact.
A buddy had a job as a fire watch in the NWT. His dog hid behind him as he shot a nuisance bear. Then dog got brave and ran and jumped on dead bear. Weight of dog caused air in bear’s lungs to be expelled. Bear corpse went “woof”. Dog was suddenly under the cabin looking out.
AC will be the same if situation reverts.
I bought a few AirTags for my check in luggage and they paid for themselves after the first trip.
One lost bag was tracked to a room that no one knew about and was full of hundreds of bags that had been dumped there by mistake.
Just wait electric planes are on the way, cartoon version of ice pilots.
“…the measures were not justified by science.”
I’m wondering if any FA’s or gate workers read their statement and if they did, how they feel today.
I suspect this portion will be removed and a follow-up statement to come.
As a long time critic of Air Canada, I genuinely thank them for adding “the measures were not justified by science.”
What happened to my once favourite WorstJet? They went all gestapo even on infants that wouldn’t wear a mask, they fired long time loyal staff for not getting the jab and they wouldn’t refund fares.
Westjet was bought by big shot Liberal Gerry Schwartz.
Stand by for handouts.
His wife Heather Reisman has turned Chapters into a Feng Shui Low Rent Aromatherapy spa experience.
Agreed – Chapters/Indigo is NOT a bookstore, staff are retards.
You mean that the airlines dependent on corporate welfare from the Liberal government supported the Liberal government policies???
“…the measures were not justified by science.”
They never were, due to the ridiculously efficient cabin air filtration systems present on all modern jet aircraft.
The asinine policy of wearing useless masks on airplanes is a stellar example of Not Even Wrong.
I’m disappointed by the Air Canada rejection of the mask mandate. AFTER being ‘bribed’ by the Canadian taxpayer buying 20% of their stock (at a discounted price) they are turning on the official political-medical ‘science’ and biting the hand that fed them. Once bought an HONEST organisation would stay bought, much like our ethical news media! Naughty, naughty. I WILL bring this up with a friend who flies for them – he used to fly for CPAir.
I vote – and who’s with me? – that Air Canada receive the 2022 trophy awarded annually by the William Lyon Mackenzie King Memorial Society, celebrated by Joshua Shapiro and friends in Mordecai Richler’s novel, “Joshua Then and Now.”
Let Joshua himself, read out the criteria for receiving such an award (which describes to a frickin’ “T”, not only Air Canada’s “leadership” (snicker) during Covid, but far too many Canadians themselves):
“This trophy, to be presented at the end of each season, would go to the player who, in his efforts on ice, most exemplified the undying spirit of Mackenzie King….Obviously, the player we have in mind would not be a high scorer, a natural star, but rather a plodder who overcomes with effort and cunning a conspicuous lack of talent, intelligence, or grace. In the nature of things, he would have to be a player who has been in the league for at least ten years, unnoticed, unheralded, but persevering. The fellow we have in mind spears when the referee has his back turned, trips an opposing player if he can get away with it, but unfailingly backs down from a fight. Preferably, he would be a man who respects his mother even more than the coach, and has a firm faith in the world-to-come. If he is on the ice when a goal is scored for his side, he argues for an assist on the play. If he is on the ice when a goal is scored by the opposition, he promptly disowns responsibility. Above all, he is a vengeful winner and a sore loser. He has no close relationships with any of his teammates. Loyalty is unknown to him. Forced into a quick decision on ice, in the heat of play, he neither opts for the possibly inspired but risky choice nor stands tall and resolute on the blue line. He avoids making any decision whatsoever, heading for the safety of the bench. All the same, when many a more talented player has retired, legs gone, or has been removed from the fray in his prime through injury, our Mackenzie King Memorial Trophy winner will still be out there skating. Skating away from trouble. Persevering.”
I will believe that Air Canada is contrite when its management faces a crowd of angry Romanians.
“This includes improving processes, such as security and customs at airports, developing new trusted traveller programs, deploying new technologies and, more fundamentally, re-examining the user-pay model that finances air transportation in Canada, whose weaknesses and interdependencies were exposed by COVID.”
Yeah, when it comes to govt. controlled Ditigal ID, Facial recognition and CCP style Social Credit Score, Air Canada is all in. In fact they have a proto-type system in place for travelers in YYZ & YUL. Of course like the Turdeau ArriveCan app, it is all about our convenience & to keep us safe.
First, and very important, I do not support the masking, vaccine requirements, or other crap Trudeau and his mob imposed. I have compromised direct family and meet the vaccine requirements for their sake.
To be upfront, I’ve been a status flier off and on for more than 25 years on the Star Alliance group. AC, United, South African Air, Luftansa, etc.
I’ve got 22 hops on Air Canada so far this year, all inside Canada from coast to coast to coast. Traveled through of Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Edmonton and many smaller airports. Based out of Ottawa. Self-tested upon return home before going in. Never positive, never sick.
The airport in Toronto was the absolute F’ing worst thing, linked through there too many times. Mask enforcement, delays, changes and the restaurants got just terrible. The other airports were not great, but nowhere near as bad. But this is the airport, not AC itself. Lot of delays for aircraft waiting to get to the gate due to no ground staff, flight crew changes caused by delays (exceeding work time) creating more delays. Those TO Airport security announcements ring through my brain worse than “Baby Shark” ever did.
I think the new “repeat motion injury” is the strain of continuously holding a drink or food near your mouth while inside Toronto airport.
Air Canada staff at the gates and on the planes, in every single hop, were really as good and polite as to be expected. No one was was yelling, threatening (except in the canned announcements) or being abusive or rude. Every time there was a requirement to fix a mask or put one on it was done politely. Even on the one very ignorant passenger that everyone around was trying to avoid. During the food/beverage service time, no mask requests, the staff stretched it out pretty well to give passengers a break.
I don’t blame the airlines for having to follow the rules, no more than I blame my clients for having to enforce the vaccine and masking requirements in their workplace. I do appreciate the staff (most of them, there are always idiots) that I interacted with in each situation for being good people.
Maybe I just got lucky. 22 Hops, 100+ hours of flying time (not including wait time) and thousands of miles without any AC (direct) issues seems pretty good.
(Where did i put that that flame retardant underwear???????????????)
On a recent Air France flight from Copenhagen to CDG, they told me that my N95 mask with a vent was not allowed on the plane and I had to wear a surgical mask without a vent. Once everyone was seated with surgical masks, the announcement included the comment that the chance of infection was very low because the entire cabin air was changed every 4 minutes.
