Countersignal: Alberta RCMP ordered to stand down during Trudeau’s firearms “buyback” program
Alberta’s Minister of Justice, Tyler Shandro announced today in a press conference that he will obstruct the gun grab by any means necessary. His office, in a coordinated response to Trudeau, issued orders to the K-Division expressly directing them to ignore federal orders on the matter.
Ignoring Federal Orders
“Alberta is not legally obligated and will not offer any provincial resources to the Federal Government as it seeks to confiscate lawfully acquired firearms,” Tyler Shandro shot back at the federal government today [emphasis in original].
“The decision to ban over 1,500 models of different firearms, simply because the “style” of the firearm was deemed to be aesthetically displeasing, is offensive and suggests to us that you are uninterested in meaningfully addressing gun crime,” the response reads.
“Further, I am concerned that federal officials have indicated that they will direct the RCMP to participate in the confiscation program. I am advising you that I am disputing such direction or intention to take such direction, as outlined in Article 23.0 of the Provincial Police Service Agreement.”
“Finally, preliminary estimates suggest that you will need to confiscate over 30,000 firearms in Alberta alone. We believe that Public Safety Canada does not have the capacity, wherewithal, or the resources to seriously attempt this effort. And, much like the long gun registry, we believe your efforts will fail in the face of opposition from the public.”
I guess we’ll find out now how good the RCMP’s union is. The RCMP is aware that in western Canada, their welcome is worn out and hanging by a very worn thread. If they had an ounce of sense, they’d let Ottawa know that their “buyback” WILL result in that thread finally snapping.
After that, things will get very ugly, very quickly.
We’ll also find out who the RCMP ultimately takes its orders from. Despite the fact they are “hired” by Edmonton, my money is on Ottawa.
The RCMP are human garbage, and ultimately whores, they will they will get on their knees and fellate whoever is paying the most.
I wonder if the RCMP might take their orders from the same source as the Chinese cops in Canada do? If that’s the case, we could call them by their Chinese name: Fu qing. Seems appropriate.

I think it is way past time to get rid of the RCMP as provincial police in all provinces. You can never be sure who they are working for and I suspect they aren’t working for the citizens of Canada. The first to do this should be Alberta and Saskatchewan, it is a chance to demonstrate that you run your province, not Ottawa, and while you are at it you should set up your own Pension Plan like the QPP and get your citizens assets back from Ottawa and start collecting your own Provincial Taxes, again like Quebec. I don’t care if the Conservatives get in next time or not, the Lieberals will be back in the future and things will go pear shaped again.

I agree totally. Our Provincial Police would be responsible to US NOT OTTAWA…..what the hell does anyone in Ottawa know what we need in Alberta? Or Saskatchewan? Absolutely nothing.. Bring on the Alberta Provincial Police. If Ontario and Quebec can have their own Provincial Police….SO CAN WE……..They probably pay for their Police from OUR EQUALIZATION PAYMENTS ANYWAYS…………

A 30,000 strong Alberta Provincial Police Reserve that buys the weapons for the fed’s price but does not destroy them instead issuing them back to each reserve cop. If the law ever changes they can buy them back for the same price. Issue a shirt with fancy crests to be worn with blue jeans and require at least one training day a year with steaks and a tub full of ice and beer.

As a former long term Conservative I am of the opinion that the leaders, federal and provincial, were selected by a cabal and the votes were for show. How else do you explain Robert Stanfield, Joe Clark, Kim Campbell and Andrew Scheer? And in Alberta Red Ed, Alison the Red, and Jason Kenny. The leading true Conservative always gets blind sided by someone without charisma that nobody likes but is firmly Red Tory.

What I don’t see is the province ending the agreement to have the RCMP in Alberta enforcing the wishes of their ottawa masters.
High River should have been the cue to get rid of them.
If anyone had any questions regarding who the RCMP answers to, the Trucker Convoy and Trampling supporters with horses should have answered that. And the harrassment of Christians.
I’m thankful for leadership that stands up and speaks for common sense and calls them out for who they really are.
I don’t know much about Tyler Shandro. I don’t care who he was last week or last year. I’m just thankful he took a stand against the most corrupt government this nation has ever had. Since the convoy last year there’s been a huge wave of energy injected into the conservative movement and it’s important that we all get behind those who are standing there taking the blows. Hold your nose if you have to, we need to be united as there’s a much bigger enemy than each other.

I looked up article 23 that deals with disputes. It’s pretty well a paper tiger that puts no kind of hold or cease-and-desist order on the issue at hand, but rather, is nothing but an agreement that both parties agree to a consultation process.

Knowing how little authority the Federal government gives to the Provinces,I wouldn’t be shocked if the feds have the power to impose a law or regulation on a Province at their will.

It is my understanding that the Alberta Municipality Association (AMA) penned a letter to Premier Kenney stating they did not support the establishment of an Alberta Provincial Police (APP). I further understand that there are something like 600+ Municipal levels of government meaning that maybe 5 or 6 of the represented levels have a population greater than 100,000 people. What we can glean from this is that the vast majority of these municipalities will be rural i.e Town, Village, County MD etc.
I wonder how those county reeves and town councillors will fee when Le Dauphin’s little band shows up at their constituents door step to break down the door and seize a legally acquired (and probably rarely used) weapon. Or, when their constituents are led away in chains because of the horrific crime of using too much fertilizer to grow the crops to feed the world
So ironic that Kenney is saying he won’t obey a federal law after slagging on Danielle for daring to propose a codification of resistance to clear federal overreach and constitutional abrogation.

The City of Surrey, B.C. today has 150 ‘Surrey Police” cops on the streets so far in the “changeover” of City cops vs the RCMP cops. It has taken 3 years to date for this changeover to happen. The hue and cry and shrieking of the RCMP backers is getting louder and louder, however, the silent Surrey City Police Force fans are working behind the scenes to finish the training, outfitting, etc. of the new Cops on the Block … We worked hard to convince the Mayor and Council we needed to get rid of the Federal Fools … get busy Alberta … it can be done.
Why weren’t they booted out after the High River gun grab?

My response is to Arty and Ward – didn’t Danielle realize that 2 right wing parties in the province some 7 or so years back, provided a huge opportunity for the NCPs to run up the middle and seize power? And guess what happened!
I think she could see that happening at THAT time. When you syphon off all of the ‘Progressives” that chose not to vote and have an Ultra-Left media assisting, you were left with what we had with Nutley! All she had to do was motivate her hard done by teachers and those underpaid & overworked medical people, and all of the other Unionistas and viola – POWER!!
What with the Liberals in Ottawa and the NCPs locally, we cannot make the same mistake that we did some years back. We have those truly God Given resources up north that the world desperately needs and all we have to do is develop them.

Smith was read the riot act by Corus. She was effectively dismissed. She might have a case for constructive dismissal but why bother.
The ‘voice’ at Corus is a pabulum collective of middle of the road drivel. There is not one voice on the entire network that can think for him/herself. One wrong word and your radio’d ( fired). Corus fired Dave Rutherford 2 weeks prior to his retirement after a 25 year stellar career.
CRB (probably just you and me left on this thread) – you are implying as Smith did that Notley was going to win a majority unless Smith crossed the floor with a handful of other traitors to their party – and make no mistake thats what they were.
Elections are about momentum – and Wildrose had very considerable momentum, much like Reform did nationally years prior.
In 2008 WR won 6.8% of the vote and Zero seats
4 years later in 2012 they won 34.3% of the vote and 17 seats – and were gaining in popularity from there. And the PCS were losing ground.
NDP was still not a threat – they got 8.5% of the vote in 2008 and 9.8 in 2012. It would have been a real stretch for them to get to 15%. in 2015.
So Smith found herself at the helm of a very popular ascendant party, whose base and values she actually despised.
Danielle wanted progressive values and the base didnt. So she blew it up.
If she wants to stir the pot – let her do it as an advocate – she proved she does not have the vision or leadership qualities to be Premier

It seems she is leading by a fair bit so permit me to hold out hope. She seems to be the only one or the most driven one to take on the crooks out east. I had high hopes for Kenney but in his attempts to please everyone, well, here we are.
There is no future for Alberta in confederation, regardless who is in the PM’s chair – too many votes east of the Manitoba border. And too many green activists countrywide so we are left with a somewhat lesser group of voters to convince that Alberta can and must be a major contributor to the economic griefs of our modern society.

If Alberta wanted to send Ottawa a message they should serve notice that the rcmp contract will no be renewed in 2030 or whenever it is due to expire.
That move alone will be the effective end of the rcmp as a federal police force doing municipal policing. They’re no good at it and don’t want to do it.
