    I feel badly for people being cold. I never liked it myself. But votes have consequences, and, now, the consequences are coming home to roost.

    1. Perhaps this will finally rouse most Euros from their torpor w/r/t “green” energy policies and the folly of single-sourcing energy whilst “transitioning.”

      Y’know, the ones who survive the cold.

  3. The degree of ignorance and stupidity from our political class is almost unfathomable. Just to clarify, they are/have implemented energy policies that:

    -remove reliable and affordable baseload power and replace it with inefficient, unreliable intermittent green energy

    – intermittent green power fluctuations risk destabilizing the grid

    – Hobble and obstruct traditional energy companies in friendly nations that produce fossil fuels, creating shortages and skyrocketing costs. Become reliant on hostile foreign governments to supply those same products

    – then rather than having many energy sources powering essential services – petroleum for transportation, natgas for heating, electricity for its traditional uses – they want green electricity to power transportation, heating and traditional electric uses. This will exponentially increase demand on electricity power production and the electricity grid.

    – fail to increase reliable power production or upgrade the newly strained electricity grid system to account for massive new electricity demand

    – politicians are then shocked and appalled when electricity and fuel prices become unaffordable because of lack of supply and the electricity grid buckles due to too much demand and green intermittent power.

    – after setting up this colossal failure the politicians then blame citizens for using too much power and corporations for being too greedy.

    Yep, that’s the current state of idiocy from our political class. Top Men and Women.

    1. LC Bennett, Sorry, but I don’t think it is “unfathomable”.
      I fully believe these political thugs have received their instructions from the WEF Cabal. They are deliberately creating multi level three dimensional chess chaos, to force us all into their new feudal society. This happening all over the west. If it were just one country, we might be able to state it as incompetence, but a broader view for so many different countries and governments, shows us they are all reading from the same playbook. This is ugly and evil. They have either done this out of greed, blackmail, or sadistic pleasure or some combination of them, my guess is greed on the lower ranks, but as you follow the money it ends in an attempt of evil feudal control by the super rich, such as the Rockerfeller, Rothchilds, Bronfmann, and other families. If enough of the peasantry don’t awaken, we are in for a dismal future. Assuming they actually allow us to live in such a dystopian future!

    3. When you listen to the political class talk and you pick your way through the word salad, it’s easy to see that they’re as dumb as rocks. An old, colorful coworker of mine would describe these people as being as useless as a bag of smashed fore-skins.

      Are they malicious or incompetent? I’d say both plus insatiably greedy but a significant portion of the population will tune out anything deemed a conspiracy theory. I’d stick to what’s blindingly obvious (incompetence and greed) instead of pointing to shadows and gut feelings (a group conspiracy of evil intent).

    When people start freezing to death, people might take more drastic action against the gang greens.

    1. In Germany, the Economic Sabotage Collective (as eugyppius calls the Greens) are also agitating to shut down the remaining operational nukes this winter, because of course they are.

      The mind boggles.

    Does the term blackouts apply accurately to the minds of Germany’s politicians?

    If so, are the blackouts due to them “masking” up with breathing obstructive devices, which
    reduce their blood oxygen levels. Thus such hypoxia in turn reduces their brains ability to make rational decisions?

    Or is it a brain freeze due to the rapid consumption of ice cream/gelato, in an attempt to counter global warming, otherwise known as summer?

  11. The optimist in me wants to believe Germany’s problems are the result of a bonkers energy policy and where the ship can be righted if the right choices are made by adults.
    The cynic says it’s a roundabout way for Green sociopaths to bring a country to its knees making them ripe for the picking. Hope I’m wrong.
    Don’t forget…it’s happening all over Europe and I’m not hearing a lot of chatter about long term remedies. If Germany is energy starved, Britain is Biafra.

  14. You’d think this would be a lesson for Canadians and Americans, but we won’t learn anything from it. It’s hard to not conclude it’s deliberate and all according to plan.

  15. One of the idiotic claims of heat pumps is that they lower your electricity bills. Because they are more efficient. No they don’t. And no they are not.

    Heat pumps increase your electricity bill because they use electricity to a) extract the heat and b) redistribute it. Natural gas furnaces only use electricity to redistribute the heat.

    I replaced my propane furnace with an open-loop geothermal system and my electricity bill went up 20%. I was told my bill would go down 10% but I didn’t listen. Of course my propane bill went down to near zero and I’ve since recovered all my investment (in 6 short years). Heat pumps are expensive. But the point is, if everyone is switching from natural gas to heat pumps, there will be a 20% increase in the demand for electricity.

    1. haven’t you heard the claims that heat pumps are over 100% efficient? that was one of their selling points used the last time everyone got on the bandwagon of electricity is the future of heating

    2. I believe the comparison is being made with electric resistance (baseboard) heating, in which case a heat pump is definitely cheaper.

    3. It all depends on what kind of heat pump you are talking about. An air to air heat pump losses efficiancy when ambient air temerature falls below 40 degrees F. The further the temperature falls the less efficiant, anything below twenty-five degrees F. and a heat pump uses more energy than it can extract from the ambient air. Geo-thermal heat pumps are far more efficient since their heat reservoir (sub-terrain ambient temperature) is generally well above forty degrees F.
      Air to air heat pumps in most of Canada are a drain on the grid during the months of December through to the end of March.

See how fast it goes from we’re suggesting to we’re ordering. I’m hoping this will finally destroy the EU, not the nations, the political model.

    We can all see this coming here.
    Battery cars, baseboard heaters, a grid that’s already at capacity.
    Fck the Krauts, the Limeys and the rest of the Eurotrash.
    They’re stupid and so is just about everyone in Frozenturdistan and Northern Mexico.
    If you don’t have a reliable winter time Plan B for heat, you’re a fckn idiot as well.
    (I might need more ammo.)
