Consultancy forecasts average price cap will soar from £1,971 at present to £4,420 next April.
They have their wind turbines to keep the lights on: Restaurants, pubs, butchers, cafes and shops are among small businesses forced to close as soaring energy bills begin to bite

The cost hasn’t really changed.
Supply squeeze adjust the calculation cost to being outrageously high.
A speculation penalty…so to speak…all in this together…on the ‘markets’ which is US funded markets.
Add EURO getting monkey hammered as well to the US markets…
I normally figure whatever the Europeans get they deserve but this is getting a bit over the top and will be coming to Canada soon I’m sure.
This is a preview of next year…our turn…
Nothing has changed with our politicians direction.
Just timing is different as we’re always last to the party.
Our made in China infrastructure is breaking…and the supply chain isn’t being fixed or replaced.
Trudeau already shut down a couple of our vital steel infrastructure plants…don’t make our own no more.
The cost of producing electricity is climbing quickly. Part of the reason is wind and solar produce power but the amount of power they produce is not constant and is not reliable. So traditional sources of power must be used to back it up.
Also the power produced must be matched to how much power is consumed. When renewable sources are added to the grid this makes it harder to match. So the control systems become more complicated compared to those used when reliable sources of power are used with out windmills and solar.
This also makes the grid more complicated making outages more likely and harder to repair.
It’s best to be able to have generators to supply your self in an emergency that may last a week or more. Then there is also the problem of politicians who understand nothing about what they are regulating and passing laws reducing the supply of fuels. It’s easy to destroy and hard to repair and build. In winter people would freeze and starve if they are not properly prepared to take care of them selves and protect their families.
Wind and solar are just an unreliable, grid parasitic, and inefficient use of fossil fuel energy that on a life cycle basis returns very little net energy above the fossil fuel energy inputs, stabilizers and decommissioning efforts. It’s why “net zero” is the wet dream of the innumerate. The closest one can come to net zero is in a vastly depopulated planet living in pre-industrial squalor and very likely the goal of the global elite except for themselves.
tRUDEau, the Lieberals and the NDP – National Dictator Party – should have offered about 2,800 wind turbines and fifty square miles of solar panels – they can have them running in a year. This would have done more good than making a deal five years in the future for Germany. This would save Germany!!!! It will help our manufacturing at the same time.
Yet, for some reason, I think Germany would reject this proposal – strange.
After this, make deals with Britain and the rest of the world we will be heroes.
Hopefully Tofu restaurants and vegan stores will be the first to shut down.
Overheard in British California: “No! NO! Not the avocado toast!!!”
Interesting to see Switzerland and France at the 400/MW hr. mark and citizens there are asked to conserve conserve and conserve and when you’re done conserving…conserve some more. Fair enough.
Meanwhile back in Geneva, you could power up several large cities with the amount of electricity the Cern Hadron collider uses during the summer.
I guess the portal to the fourth dimension ain’t gonna open itself.
I’m genuinely not interested in self inflicted Euroweenie energy miseries. We’ll have our own problems here soon enough.
Less than 400 pounds a month isn’t all bad. Here in Victoria during the winter months we pay around 400 bucks a month and that is with a heat pump. When I lived in England I, soon found out that what we pay in dollars here in Canada they pay in pounds. There is no conversion subsidy. Also, most brit households never put their heat on anyway during the winter months. Sweaters provided their heat source.
Liberals are used to fighting wars against conservatives who don’t fight back.
Putin fights back.
Not trying to defend the Prime Turd but in Canada electricity is a provincial responsibility. In Ontario…
56.8% nuclear
24.4% hydro
11.6% renewable
6.3% natural gas
So when they increase your hydro rates ask them why.
Thank the Christer that fckface isn’t in charge.
He’d have our nuclear reactors shut down by now.
Electricity should not be the responsibility of ANY government.
Maybe the British can find comfort in the following message: They’re all going to die.
All non-essential businesses and travel will have to close. Where have we heard that before, just recently? It was a dry run.
This is why https://greatgameindia.com/climate-police-force/
