I finally did get through to Service Canada.
The federal government stopped issuing SIN cards in 2014. When my mother died almost exactly 10 years ago, it was required that the cards had to be returned. Apparently, that’s no longer the case.

Thanks for the information– Re: SIN Cards. I called them last April about another item, got a recorded message and waited on phone for almost an hour for a representative to pick up. Wasn’t about to go through that again.
In no sense is a bloated bureaucracy an efficient bureaucracy. In fact, the larger an organization becomes, the easier it is for incompetent, lazy and genuinely useless staff to hide in the ranks.
Democrats on Saturday voted to double the size of the Internal Revenue Service. (Including “Service” in the name of that organization is outrageous, but a nice little incidental insult to those who suffer from that bureaucracy’s attention.)
We’re told that the additional 82,000 IRS agents will be focusing their time exclusively on those of the super-rich whose accountants have devised extra-legal means of preserving their client’s wealth.
Two items of note:
1. If one actually believes 82,000 tax collectors are required to police America’s estimated 290 billionaires, then what I said above about the inefficiency of bloated bureaucracies grossly understated the magnitude of that problem.
2. We have plenty of well-documented evidence of Democrat leadership weaponizing the IRS against conservatives during the Obama/Biden years.
What likely happened is that the Biden administration decided it is time to rain hell down on Hillary’s “basket of deplorables.”

BAD This was one of my favourite ONJ songs. Reminds me of watching two brothers swapping the engine out of their 67 Camaro SS and putting it in their 70 Chevelle SS (or something like that). We were all in their yard, up on a hill overlooking the marsh with the foothills rising up right behind. It came on the radio and it just seemed like a perfect moment.
I heard the song was written by a gay man which makes sense if you listen to the lyrics. I tried not to picture it that way, lol.
