  1. The future.
    After the mandates by idiots.
Except the genset will be bigger and the trailer smaller.

Although this idea may work even better than the Functional Unit 2..
For the camper provides you with some pleasant down time when the batteries fry up..
And provides cover for the generator powering your electric car.

    1. It will only take him 12-20 hours to recharge … if … if … that’s a 240v generator. Otherwise … lots-lots longer. Oh! And you best not run your generator constantly over that period of time … if you care about keeping it

  2. Check out the bumper sticker; “In Science we Trust”. The irony is lost on these folks.

  3. They only want you to travel 1 hr from where you live…

You won’t be allowed to leave your home area without permissions…

This is the future they want for our kids and grandchildren…

    Not on my watch…

  4. What’s that cord heading left from the generator? Could it be they have found a currant bush to plug into?

  5. I was in an electric car the other day and eventually we got around all eighteen holes.

  6. Yesterday I traveled 800 km on just over half a tank of diesel in my 2020 2500 HD. It showed 1,212 km range when I filled up. With air conditioning, navigation and satellite radio blaring. It’s a pretty high bar to meet. But don’t ask me how much it cost to fill up. I felt like I was making a donation to the Gods.

    1. I have a diesel Touareg and it can comfortably run 1000km on a tank full, with almost a quarter in reserve.

A few years ago I drove from the GTA to Cold Lake, Alberta. Picked up a 3000lb trailer and drove back. In a week. I will challenge any electric SUV or pickup to the same journey.

      1. Heh. Any EV can do that trip, in four days – if the railroad flatcar they’re sitting on doesn’t get shunted-off onto too many sidings while they’re en route

  7. Watched a video comparison of a new Chevrolet 1500 and the new all electric Ford, it was in Colorado and they were each towing a small RV, simulating a weekend out…..Chevy tanked up, Ford fully charged….an away we go

The Ford EV made it 80 miles before needed to get charged, to be fair, it still had 9 more miles available, however, there were no adequate charging station had they continued.
Have a nice weekend camping, imagine the chat around the campfire and the anxiety concerning the drive home Sunday afternoon.

    1. I saw that video, and thought it strange to compare an EV from one manufacturer against a gas vehicle from another. A more ‘scientific’ comparison would be to match Ford against Ford, Chevy against Chevy, etc.

Anyways, someone who buys an EV to tow heavy trailers to remote destinations is inherently a bloody idiot. Thanks for the morning LOL, Kate.

  8. What he needs is a big gen set inside the trailer, windows open, cord out the window to the car.
Plus enough fuel in the trailer to run gen set.
    And then a tent.

  9. It looks like two 2.000 watt generators (max continuous output of 1,600 watts each). That’ll take a long time – at least they can sleep and cook in the trailer.
