A scorching heat wave is pushing the Texas grid to the brink. Power demand is surging as people crank up air conditioners. But meanwhile, wind speeds have fallen to extremely low levels, and that means the state’s fleet of turbines is at just 8% of their potential output. […]
Depressed wind power during heat waves isn’t a new phenomenon. Powerful high-pressure systems that cause intense heat often squelch wind production — just when more power is needed to meet higher electricity demand. The mass of air overhead stifles wind near the surface, until the mass moves elsewhere.
A “phenomenon”. Here’s another: wind doesn’t blow when it’s cold, either.

But, but, they have solar panels!
Any commercial pilot could have told these companies, and governments, that the wind doesn’t blow when it’s real hot AND when it’s real cold. And it seems to me that we DID tell them that. High-pressure systems result in stable air with little wind, and these systems typically bring clear skies. In the summer, that means lots of heat from the sun. No cloud to block solar radiation. In the winter, the sun is lower and has less heating, but the earth’s surface heat radiates off into space at night when the skies are clear. Real cold.
The governor of New York announced that 70% of that state’s electricity will be generated by renewables in the year 2030, and then heartily congratulated herself for this imaginary accomplishment.
They’re all stoned.
I think brain dead is the word.
I propose we add MORE giant intermittent wind power fans! Where? Along every lineal foot of the Texas Border with Mexico. The fan blades should almost touch one another … and almost touch the ground. Then … we will only have illegal border crossers during periods of still winds.

Notice every time we get a notice to limit power usage, they don’t mention anything about curtailing EV charging. Why is that?
Need I say anything?
Wind generation here in the Pacific NW follows the same pattern – not there during extreme temperature events. The Bonneville Power Administration posts a 7 day moving chart of generation and load in the Pacific NW.
https://transmission.bpa.gov/Business/Operations/Wind/baltwg.aspx
Total installed wind nameplate capacity is 2750 MW. Over the past 7 days wind generation has been nil most of the time.
Imagine if – on top of that – all those Texans had electric cars they needed to recharge.
The situation would be a thousand times worse.
But green energy is being shoved down our throats – by the left – anyway.
Leftism is a symptom of insanity.
EV’s are being shoved down our throats because they know they don’t work.
EV’s will not work in most locations in Canada, but they press on. Millions of charging stations need to be added, the grid updated and more power brought on line. Windmills and solar don’t work. Just look at Germany. Proof Greens are the enemy. They took a once industrial powerhouse with cheap nuclear power to demanding people lower the temp and reduce electricity usage and now are burning coal. Total incompetence and to top it off are reliant on the enemy of NATO for 40% of their energy. NATO should be disbanded and the US withdraw all assets.
They want to limit our mobility.
You will need a permit to buy a vehicle and it will mostly be denied.
Look at what’s happening in airports, they want to discourage air travel to the point, it’s just a pain in the ass,
Is SASK POWER COAL Fired ?
You think that just maybe the Governor of Texas is trying to lose his job?
He didn’t learn from the last time now did he.
