Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
All of these are examples of central planning. The more central planning you allow, the more tyranny you get, the more capricious and unreliable government becomes, and because of the constant legal and regulatory changes, the rule of law degrades. This is the record of history and the reason why central governments of all stripes, being unthinking, lazy and slovenly beasts, must be kept as small as possible.
It wasn’t the hundreds they put on unpaid leave that caused the passport backlog.
It was the tens of thousands they paid in full to sit home and drink all day.
I think more stayed home and got high than drank. Or they did both.
ah yes those dastardly incandescent bulbs.
-that still work at -50 C
-that you can use in a dire emergency by stringing DC CURRENT car batteries together.
-that work at half the voltage just like a dimmer.
-that flicker and jog but still illuminate off a cludgey gas powered generator.
but according to the LIEberal elites who NEVER venture to the frontier where resources and eqpt consist ONLY what ya brought with ya on horseback etc.
ya. those ones.
so thanks agin harpoonedharper.
pryk.
That ship sailed years ago. LED bulbs have mostly taken over on their merits – we moved into a new house over five years ago and installed mostly LED bulbs. Haven’t had to replace one yet. The bulb in the front yard coach lamp has been working every night for four years. I did stock up in 60 and 100 watt incandescent years ago – one advantage is they have a better colour temperature when dimmed and yes, you can dim LED bulbs that are labelled as such.
aaaah yes yes yes.
the LEDs that get buried in snow and ice when used in traffic lites in cold climate.
LEDs are fantastic but NOT perfect.
my point stands. otoh perhaps if you have any incandescents you must smash them all,
Yah forgot their utility as an emergency heat source.
I wired a Greenies house addition, turned out he never realized how much heat a 60W bulb or two contributed to his comfort.
You cannot cure stupid.
And Harpers Command Economy Bull is stupid on steroids.
Another intentional increase in your cost of living,by order of Rule and Regulation.
What a mere 72 Secret Laws since 2015?
Forward!.
2014? 8 years? I bought half a case of 60 W and half a case of 100 W incandescents. I have about 1/4 case left. When LEDs got down to a couple bucks I started using them. The leftovers are for unheated buildings and outside. I guess I have to buy a case of drinking straws and a shitload of picnic stuff and plastic bags. The fascist pigs can only control you if you let them.
I oppose the light bulb ban and look forward to them getting smuggled in from America or wherever (3D printing artisanal lightbulbs?) but LEDs are superior anyway. F(*k CFLs.
From your passport office story:
“When I see this I feel bad for my country,” Conservative MP Gérard Deltell (Louis-St. Laurent, Que.) told the Commons. “Canada is a G7 country, not a Third World Country.”
I hate to break it to you, but when your PM declared a National Emergency over political protests? And all the banks, corporations, and mass media went along with the farce and demonizing of peaceful people with different political viewpoints? You went from a liberal democracy straight to a Third World Banana Republic. Your Parliament should be leading the revolt, but they are too worried about their own petty sinecures and pensions.
Just wait until they start the censoring? Except you will never notice, because those voices will just disappear like they never existed. How many are gone already?
They were not remotely ‘peaceful people’. The nature of the occupation was inherently violent and should have been met with much greater violence from the state. As much as it takes to quickly end it.
Okay, Ceausescu
Yawn. Yep, those trucker’s children mightd’a bit somebody if it wasn’t for the riot police!
“Liberal MP Ya’ara Saks (York Centre, Ont.), parliamentary secretary for passport operations, said managers were doing their best. “Every passport counter in this country is open to serve Canadians,” said Saks.”
Indeed.
The incompetents and Umme’s are “doing their best”.
And we should be grateful.
Excepting competency, efficiency and a work ethic…that so shows your age.
How Dare you expect such impossible standards fro your diversity hires..
You Bigots.
