  1. Who would have thought … an electrical engineer perhaps? I often ask clients if they want their equipment to operate in Winnipeg.

  2. Heh…they updated it and now suggest that charging times decrease significantly as the temperature dips below 10 C (or 50 F). Also, the time it takes to charge from battery light on to 80% is over an hour in perfect conditions.

That’s about as appetizing eating bugs to me.

      1. You would think the recharge times could and should decrease with lower temperatures? The batteries are cool and have more heat capacity. The electronics are also cooler and should run cooler.

Maybe it is something intrinsic with Lithium Batteries? But that wouldn’t that affect all Lithium Batteries in all Electric Vehicles?

Charging may not be possible when the temperature drops to around -4 degrees Fahrenheit and below.
IOW almost every January and February night, and some days too.

    1. If SDA doesn’t post this, or something else from another source, about what they are doing to kids(about this man’s kid in particular) who come from military backgrounds trying to honor their fighting ancestors by signing up to practice defending the country, well then, I’ll have learned something valuable.

    2. That’s Fking outrageous…

I was an Air Cadet -111 Squadron YV4…5 yrs and Left as a Warrant Officer and Senior Cadet of the squadron. A great 5 years that saw me going to summer camps, Bush survival Training and Finally Senior Leaders at Borden in prep of being said squadrons Cadet Leader ….to now hear this NAZI style bullshit being perpetuated against these kids just angers me large.

This is Wrong on so many levels.

  3. Subaru is in a joint venture with Toyota to produce their version of this using the same platform/technology, called the Solterra (Subaru’s first EV) and goes on sale in July I believe. Progs not gonna be happy.

  4. the idea of EV is not bad. just needs a little work to work for Canadian winter. That is 6 months of the year in some places in southern parts and 10 months in the north. Our PM needs to keep some of our money here in this country to develop infrastructure, which is deteriorating quite quickly in a lot of places.

    1. “just needs a little work to work for Canadian winter”
Just a little work, like 20-100 years of technological innovation done by geniuses, that’s all.

      1. the lack of infrastructure is a bigger problem. the battery issue could be improved soon

        1. LOL. Maybe some new stuff and inventions that don’t exist yet will give us an excuse to change our infrastructure now!
You are nothing but an idiot, parroting lefty fantasy.

        2. Batteries will be improved…??

          Lmao..!! Not flipping likely chucky.
Batteries have been around over 100 yrs…they are what’s known as a “mature” technology.

Miniaturize a nuclear reactor….?? now THAT, would be a game changer.

EV’s are and will continue to be a JOKE for northern Climes….now where’s that Canola dealer…?? My dirtymax is thirsty.

  5. On the same site:
Toyota running out of EV tax credits for buyer rebates in U.S.
The automaker says it is considering lowering prices for its EVs to compensate for the rebates, which could dry up October 2023

Rebates are as essential for EV development costs as the hay tax was for developing the Model T.
