Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Predicted lows in the 30’s (F) overnight here in the Bay Area
This so-called phenomenon has happened before and will happen again. https://www.newenglandhistoricalsociety.com/1816-year-without-a-summer/
Early records for the Red River settlement in southern Manitoba (aka the “Selkirk Settlers” also show crop failures due to inclement weather. Back in the day, I was fortunate to be able to take Dr Grant McEwan’s course in Western history and he discussed the settlement’s problems. He also talked about how Western scientists laboured long and hard to find a strain of wheat that would grow on the prairies.

Sun so hot I froze to death,Susanna don’t you cry..
Behold, the Carbon Tax Dear Leader has so graciously bestowed upon us is working..
Rather too well, perhaps his sycophants can beg him to reduce it..before we all freeze to death…
Now I worship a different God,who takes burn offerings in stride..
Would it be be wrong,in progressive Can ahh Duh, to Burn Dear Leader as an offering of appeasement to the Gods of Cooling??
Which religion are we following here?
The Cult of Calamitous Climate?
Or the Club of the Stolen Greenback?
Or are these sub branches ?
How can we tell the heretics from the true believers?
Or do we just take guidance from Pope Innocent the Third?
And kill them all as God will know his own…
State Climate Cults are such fun.

Can’t recall April and May being this cold for quite a few years, it’s about a once a decade sort of a pattern, just the luck of the draw where we get stuck under a long-wave trough in western Canada and the Pac NW states. It beats the heat dome and the heavy rainfall of last November however. Have seen snow falling three of the past four days, and the trees are barely starting to show any real signs of budding (I am up a bit higher than many at about 4,000′ asl). The snow has stuck around on nearby hilltops closer to 5,000′ and there isn’t a lot of signs of a big warming trend any time soon. The main problem we might face with this is a fast snowmelt in BC similar to 1948 when it stayed cold in May and got hot early in June. If we have that sequence plus some rainfalls, we could see some nasty flooding.
The carbon tax has been a total waste of time, the tiny amount by which human activity is modifying the climate is so small that even a total ban on fossil fuels would do little more than shave a tenth or two off the mean temperature, and as this episode shows, we don’t even need to be doing that, nature is doing it for us. Maybe more than we would actually like. It’s too darned cold for this time of year.
“Can’t recall April and May being this cold for quite a few years…”
We’ve been in our home for nearly 30 years. This spring is the first in that period that the apple tree in the back yard hasn’t been in bloom by Mother’s Day. Must be some of that Globull Warming…
Ah, yes, good old 1948. We lived in the Trail area then and Dad was among other men who were out trying to mitigate the flooding in downtown Trail as the Columbia River was rising relentlessly. Do remember him commenting on how they had all worked so hard and then – finally – a bulldozer had turned up which could actually do the job.
Fast forward to 1969, and there was a different flood. Instead of the Columbia River, it was the creeks flowing down from the western mountains. It began with Trail Creek, which ran through a culvert for a mile or so, as the force of the water was moving boulders and breaking upstream culverts which blocked the main culvert and forced the water overland. To the south, Grey Creek also overflowed its culvert and ran down (I think) Spokane Street In between the two was the old West Kootenay building which housed Cominco’s computers (big mainframes in those days), and there was seriously hasty sandbagging to save them. There was serious devastation but, so far as I know, no loss of life.
Back to Dad. He and a colleague were headed home, travelling west towards the road to Rossland. Suddenly they saw this wall of water headed their way so they took a quick left to try to get to upper Trail and a road across to lower Warfield. It was tricky as all the creeks were cranky, but they made it home. This time other helped dig out.
There is a lengthy article at wattsupwiththat on the Maunder Minimum and the weather resulting from and through it. Should be required reading for all green freaks.
Exactly VOWG. But it seems that no one is remotely interested in the fact that the sun controls the climate and the weather and just about everything that happens to the earth. The solar minimum is the cooling phase of the sun’s cycle. It has always done the warming and cooling cycles and will until the sun goes out some millions or billions of years in the future. The climate change scam is just that, a money grabbing scam dreamed up by money grabbing scammers. And carbon dioxide has no effect on anything except keeping the plants on earth alive. If we lower the carbon dioxide level, everything dies. Period.
+++Greg. Stated as simply as possible. The truth need not be verbose.
It seems that La Niña years affect the Pacific Northwest too, plus the current mini cyclical cooling. Where I am near downtown Vancouver, we did not get as much rain or snow, as did the north shore or Burnaby etc., (anywhere on/near mountains). We have quite a diverse micro-climates that differ a lot. Even Palm Desert CA had a cool winter, but is normal now.
Gosh! Quite a change in the weather since yesterday’s “It’s probably nothing” thread, eh?
start with humans occupy 6% of the land surface(thats a national geographic number ) , 2% of the worlds total surface, any look out of an airplane window will tell you that.
bees ,lakes and all things natural inhabit the rest . are bees dying out . no , Are climate cycles more extreme no. the other 98% of the world moderates all.
thought exercise. burn all the oil in the world on a burner on the bottom of the pacific ocean instantly , you will find you cant raise the temperature by 0.5 degrees C
If they can make you believe absurdities they can make you commit atrocities. This they will do with a smile.
With the climate cult in full swing, reaching near maximum followers, we are now entering the atrocity phase.
It will not be long now before the cancel crowd activated for the Russia/Ukraine war refocuses on the climate.
They are priming it already, with the rebranding to “Climate Crisis”
…. and we have not got to the May long weekend.
It is known in Alberta as the end of winter with massive snowfall.
May long weekend we try and cycle up the Highwood pass….
Last year, nope, this year, probably not…to much global warming on the ground
Three words you will never hear from a climate change researcher – ” I don’t know. “. We shouldn’t expect anything else in an era where the left propagadizes on the infallibility of large, stupid government every chance they get. Nothing even remotely associated with their beliefs is wrong, therefore questioning them is immoral.
So unlike every other scientific discipline, the science of climate change is immutable. All that changes is the wording, from global warming to climate change to climate weirding to some other phrase used to manipulate our views on a science that’s as solid and reliable as phrenology.
Same here, coldest (and wet) spring I can remember. Can’t work the garden, wet snow predicted. In May!
Dirtman, as one born and raised in the east, I have experienced summers where we wore jackets all summer and never went for a swim. It can’t get warm enough for me as at times over the years I found Florida cold. Must be my age.
Dirtman I looked and can’t find “here” on the map …. is it close to Bumfuch Saskatchewan?
