It’s wrong to believe the Trudeau-Freeland agenda is to regulate home videos.
YouTube officials have warned that if Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s internet regulation bill goes through, it could give the government unprecedented power over everyday content posted online.
According to YouTube Canada’s head of government affairs Janette Patell, Bill C-11’s wording is so broad that it places home videos within the purview of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
Despite claims by the Trudeau government that the law would exclude ordinary videos, several experts have blasted the update to the Broadcasting Act as an affront to freedom of expression.
C-11 is a weapon to target their enemies.

Along with the ceebeecee, the crtc should also be scrapped as well. Canadians don’t need a board telling them what they can watch, and what they can’t.
I still recent growing up in the 70’s, and not knowing the music I was listening to on the radio, was “affirmative action” music. I was manipulated into listening to Canadian bands, not necessarily the best bands, or all the bands, or different bands, nope, I got my quota of Canadian bands.
I agree with your post. I am a lover of music as well (especially classic rock) and seldom listen to it on the radio as the percentage of Canadian content is ridiculously high. It seems like every other song is by The Guess Who, April Wine, BTO, Burton Cummings or The Tragically Hip. These are great artists and I do like their music but it is greatly overplayed on the radio which is a shame as it spoils the enjoyment of it. I am so sick of our government trying to control our lives. The social engineering is out of control.
There is zilch, nothing, on local Lethbridge radio stations for classic rock or blues fans. In addition, a few weeks back, the local station that I sometimes had going in the background while working in the garage broadcast the schtick about traditional lands, blah, blah, blah. Turned it off permanently & working on getting internet radio wired in.

My friend in Finland asked what music I like, as I was driving her car to Tempere, to catch a train to Helsinky. So I told her, classic rock, next thing you know her phone bluetoothed classic rock onto her car radio. I need to check my new truck , to see if I have the same option.
PET inflicted Cancon on us in order to “save” Canadian culture. (Funny, his son doesn’t think we have any…..)
That led to a number of popular songs being released in Canada that were cover versions of what was available elsewhere. A lot of them were simply awful.

I remember in the ’70’s Gordon Lightfoot remarking that Canadian content rules were compromising his career in that his music was so overplayed on the airwaves that ,speaking for myself, I would change stations when they played him. And I happen to think that Gord is pretty talented.
During my undergraduate summers in NE B. C., I often listened to some rock stations out of Seattle in the evenings when the medium wave propagation conditions were favourable. I got to hear the original versions of the songs that were released as covers here in Canada.
I guess I violated PET’s Cancon rules by doing that, didn’t I?
The CRTC has always been a better easier more rewarding target than the CBC. The monomaniacal focus on the CBC while the CRTC is barely mentioned is one of the more baffling failures of the Canadian Right.
Yes, home videos will be captured. Laws in Canada are made “broadly” on purpose. Even though what you are doing isn’t specifically mentioned, there is a law or by-law that can be stretch interpreted to prosecute you for it.
Canada has the “Interpretation Act” specifying how to interpret Canadian law. “Provisions are to be given as liberal interpretation that the context will allow.” (Paraphrased)
Have I mentioned that the majority of Canadians are very stupid? MikeT, every freaking keystroke has been captured for years. What I am typing now is being archived, anyone who thinks otherwise is not thinking.
Canada was a signatory on that letter for advertisers to boycott Twitter if Musk takes over.

This is very fertile ground for the CPC especially if they pick a younger more savvy leader. Vancouver is home to a bunch of mostly vaguely soft-left YTers who are nervous about this bill and rightly so. Talking with them and laying down firm support for their freedoms would build socio-cultural cred that would go way beyond the CPC’s performance in the next election.
21st Century Gulag.
Canada is in good company. China, Iran and North Korea.
If it helps, flash drives can be smuggled into Canada as they are in North Korea.
Yay, right?
