It’s not hard to see where this is going. People have a right to protest. If those in charge want to have any kind of say or control over the situation they need to be reasonable and negotiate in good faith with organizers. Failure to do so and reneging on agreements at the last minute means that at some point people will stop talking to them all together. If you want anarchy and a free for all, that’s where the current strategy leads.

I see a sign saying Muster Point at every industrial facility in Nisku. They go there if there’s a fire or other emergency, so they can count everyone.
As Ed said, it’s a common congregation area in the event of an emergency and/or building evacuation. I see signage for it at some of the businesses I deliver to and my employer also has a muster point.

I suggest mustering in some other part of the city — maybe near the Corkstown camp ground — and using transport as needed to get downtown. No point in spoiling a good party.

I said this the day before the police crackdown that fateful February day, when the truckers were trying to urge people to stay calm. I said then that it was not a good idea to encourage civilians to come downtown to hold the line.
Unfortunately, I was proven correct.
So now, I will say this again. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE RESOLVE OF THE AUTHORITIES! Their pride has been hurt, and so they no longer care about their public image. They will clamp down on any dissent on the government no matter what.
I’m afraid of what’s going to happen this weekend. This could get ugly. I mean REAL ugly. I would urge caution to all concerned. I will even go so far as to suggest that the bikers reconsider their plans. It may not be worth the risk to their safety and their property, not to mention all of their assets.
But having said that, I am not their guardian. I can’t control what they decide to do, but I will at least try to warn them that they may be stepping through the gates of hell.
I’ve been having, let’s say “discussions” with some of my contacts regarding some alternative strategies. I don’t know if they’ll go for it. They are, after all, not only bikers, but veterans, and so it appears that pride will figure into their decision making.

It seems to me, the city of Ottawa loves the jobs, prestige and wealth that being the Nations Capital brings, but abhors being the “Speakers Corner” of Canada unless it is an issue they support.
