The long awaited report is out. Among the highlights is that racism is running rampant in the military. More blacks need to be recruited because of all the white men currently serving. I can’t remember any racism in the Canadian Army 40 years ago. Mind you, I was in the reserves. I suspect it is a matter of inventing racism so they can solve it.

40 years ago regular forces (PPCLI). There was no racism to speak of then, the only time racism was displayed it was by minorities, who everyone knew were ragging our asses for entertainment. Those same minorities had our backs and we had theirs in some pretty dreadful situations.
That’s the thing with this new form of racism, you don’t know you’re doing it. The more you deny it, the more racist you are. And if you don’t deny it, then of course, you’re racist.

The recruiting process is able to weed out most of the nut jobs before they enlist (despite what some people think). The few that get through are covered under the Military Code of Service and Military Ethos. From the last numbers I saw, we have less than 60 ‘extremist’ (who are already under watch and will be remove if they cross the line) in an organization that employs over 67,000. People are still allowed to have their personal views, the Military Ethos and the Military Code of Service clearly defines how they can express them and the action that can happen if they break them. All this report is, is a meaningless answer to a near non-existing problem that will force the CAF and DND go through more hoops to enlist people and lower moral some more, and make the government feel like it is doing something important. For an organization that is completely voluntary and has a crucial manpower shortage across the board, this will not help.
The CAF and DNDs biggest problem is that it keeps succeeding at doing the multiple tasks given despite the restrictions emplaced by the government and the lack of working material given to do it with.
Remember, there is no C in AUKUS for a reason.
