Where you get the idea that there’s a Bernoulli or Navier-Stokes equation, or an accepted practice like double-entry accounting for something like tree-rings, I’ll never guess.
Science would be:
Extrapolating those equations into the past, and then examining past tree ring data, and seeing which equations fit that data, and extrapolating them into the future, and seeing which equations accurately predict future tree ring data, and once you find equations that, to a greater or lesser degree fit the data, trying to interpret them.

Your source is emitting a terminological inexactitude. And in the Weaver case, Ball took the Limbaugh defense: I’m an entertainer, who would believe me; therefore what I say can’t be defamation.

This is a methodology paper. The aim is to get over the effects of subjective decisions by using "ensembles" in which they largely cancel each other and get a more valid result.
