    1. roaddog,

Read the piece and had a look around there. Looks interesting. I’ve bookmarked the site. I also clicked on About Me, and About skepticism and liked what I saw there. SDA Readers: she has specialized in writing about climate but is not a true believer. She’s extremely skeptical of the movememt.

      1. What she is, is rational and that is becoming a scarce commodity. She spent many hours with the truckers in Ottawa, and is currently working on a book documenting what she observed.

  1. Re: Huey UH-1 helicopter pilots in Vietnam.

My buddy trained as a commercial helicopter pilot in Texas shortly after the Vietnam war. His instructor had flown Hueys for several years however after the war, they were using a civilian model (Huey H series) ) for training near Dallas. The instructor would spot a pivot irrigation unit and just for laughs, he’d fly over one of the sprinklers at full throttle, and only inches above the aluminum tubing, then he’d yell ”yahooooooo!” My friend described the experience as ”near spiritual.”

  2. If we’re flying lets go back to 1944

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Hornet

“”For aerobatics the Sea Hornet was absolute bliss. The excess of power was such that manoeuvres in the vertical plane can only be described as rocket-like. Even with one propeller feathered the Hornet could loop with the best single-engine fighter, and its aerodynamic cleanliness was such that I delighted in its demonstration by diving with both engines at full bore and feathering both propellers before pulling up into a loop!”[18][N 1]

    1. De Havilland Hornet….the ULTIMATE Development of the Mosquito.

      Just a gorgeous aircraft…!!

    1. My condolences to Guy Lafleur’s friends and family, but your delivery immediately reminded me of that classic “how to break bad news” scene from the movie Capricorn One.

    2. RIP Guy Lafleur. I saw him play several times at the old Mtl Forum, could still see him with his golden hair flowing, zipping along. You could tell he was going to score! Here are some interviews in this piece, posted link here: “every time I was on the ice, I was the happiest guy in the World”, he said. What a gentleman, he was an ambassador for many causes including cancer patients at the end– he would visit them and cry with them. He lived his life well, and loved his fans.

      1. On my way back from my house in B. C. Wednesday, I noticed that the flag at a school was at half-mast. My first thought when I saw that was he had already died.

    1. Ever notice how Democrats are clear to say there was no WIDESPREAD fraud whenever they arrogantly belittle claims that fraud decided the last American election?

Of course this level of cheating was pointless to carry out everywhere, they knew exactly where they needed to strategically target their criminal activities.

      1. Yeppers. They’ve become experts at minimizing their lies, deflecting accusations and distorting truths.

  3. Excellent breakdown.

Analysis of Offical Government data finds Covid-19 Vaccination increases risk of Death due to all-causes in all Age-Groups

    https://dailyexpose.uk/2022/04/20/analysis-gov-data-finds-covid-vaccination-increases-risk-death/

“The United Kingdom’s Office for National Statistics “the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics and its recognised national statistical institute” has quietly released substantial data on the COVID-19 vaccines.

Despite containing some of the most detailed breakdowns of the relationship between the COVID-19 vaccines and mortality available, it has gone almost unnoticed.”

  4. The Gap, Inc. shares are down about 20% this morning, based on guidance which says dollar sales will be down for the rest of the year. As well, Old Navy, a subsidiary of Gap Inc., saw its CEO given the heave-ho. Which brings one to the woke Old Navy commercial depicting a rainbow assortment of young people sporting Old Navy wear, all of whom showing hefty amounts of flab*:

    * In proper woke terminology, “full-bodied individuals”.

    1. David – as one who is “built more for comfort than speed”, I have no problem with adverts featuring people who do not look as if they have just escaped from Biafra. To me, this is much better than anything from Lululemon, whose CEO (I think that was his title) once boasted that the company didn’t cater to anyone above about a size 14.

  5. Yet one more politician who is incapable of adding a pair of single digit numbers.

Either Jagmeet Singh Is Completely Ignorant About Economics, Or He’s Hoping Everyone Else Is

    https://spencerfernando.com/2022/04/21/either-jagmeet-singh-is-completely-ignorant-about-economics-or-hes-hoping-everyone-else-is/

“Amid a three-decade high in inflation, Jagmeet Singh has released another video sharing his ‘ideas’ to fix the problem.

And if you were expecting a masterclass in economic ignorance, you’re 100% right…”

Mind you, look at the voters he’s “representing”…

    1. “Greedy corporations” blah blah blah, the same NDP drivel that the party has spouted for the last 60 or so years. OK, Mr. Smart Guy, what about all those social media billionaires? Aren’t they socialists? So how come you don’t want their companies taxed? Will you be willing to give up your fancy watches and your car to “identify” with “the people”? No? I didn’t think so, you commie hypocrite.

    1. According to:

      https://www.globeinvestor.com

the drop today is due to resource stocks being down. New York’s down by more than 600 points right now.

I’m not concerned as this is typical market behaviour for this time of year.

      1. Interest rates are rising sharply due to central banks contractionary monetary policy, selling government bonds on the open market. This portends an economic recession, so stock prices fall.

  6. So, it seems that the Eleventh Commandment here in Alberta is “Thou shalt let the health inspectors abuse you whenever they feel like it”:

    https://rumble.com/v11xsel-alberta-church-on-trial-and-facing-1.3m-in-fines-for-blocking-covid-inspect.html

The audacity of the court is that the inspectors did not disrupt the services in question when they barged in.

  7. Ow the noise in the chopper vid in today’s TIPS, I could only watch half of it…..
Here’s what the pilots, soldiers and the rest of us listened to back in the day during the era when choppers were used in a war:

Holy cow, there’s some good sh!t here. Apologies.

    1. There’s a reason why Stanley Kubrick used Paint It Black during the closing credits for Full Metal Jacket.

        1. I shamelessly admit that the main reason I watched China Beach was Nurse McMurphy.

The series had a good beginning, but it fizzled out towards the end.

        1. The first and last seasons of TOD were good. The second one sucked because it tried to compete with China Beach.

    2. Great songs. FWIW Sweet Home Alabama came out in 1974 1 year after the US ended their involvement in Vietnam. The song was Skynyrd’s reply to Neil Young for his 2 songs about the south. Young agreed with Skynyrd and said,
“I don’t like my words when I listen to it. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue.”
Guy LA Fleur was one of the greats. First round pick in 1971. Sam Pollock(GM with the Habs for 14 years and 9 Stanley Cups) had to pick between Marcel Dionne and La Fleur. Hall of Famer Dionne would have been great wherever he went but La Fleur was a better fit for Montreal helping them win 5 cups.

      1. Thanks, I didn’t know that about the songs, nor did I know that Guy Lafleur retired twice. I just learned today that after he left the Habs he went back to hockey to play for the N.Y. Islanders and then later the Quebec Nordiques. Looks like the Habs should’ve treated him better. I don’t think he made the big bucks either like the later guys. Saw him doing TV Commercials for foot massagers. Wasn’t there some theft of their pension fund by that fraudster lawyer whose name I gladly forgot. Was that during Lafleur’s era? There’s a lot of hush, hush.

How are ya, got the kinks all ironed out?

        1. “How are ya,”
Good Nancy Thanks for asking but slow. Remember how Grandad’s old truck had 4 gears bull low, low, intermediate and hi. Well I’m having trouble getting ‘er out of bull low.

          1. Keep your spirits high, some good music everyday–things take time, you’ll get there you’ll see, I promise, we all get better despite ourselves. Besides that, summers coming! The best of luck to you.

  8. Dmitrievsky Chemical Plant burned down yesterday. This is the largest Russian manufacturer of chemical solvents. Located 250 miles east of Moscow.

    Probably just an accident…. Oh…

The Aerospace Defense Research Institute building in Tver, Russia burnt down yesterday, as well.
It developed the Iskander Ballistic Missile as well as the S-400 Surface-to-Air Missile System.

Putin should be looking over his shoulder.

    Video of both…

    1. Buildings burning…
Russian oligarchs dying under mysterious circumstances….

“Two prominent Russian oligarchs were found dead alongside their families at their million-dollar residences in Russia and Spain — within 24 hours of each other this week.”

“Investigators are said to be pursuing the theory that the 55-year-old killed both women with an axe and knife before taking his own life. Local reports say steps were taken to avoid leaving fingerprints on the murder weapon, casting doubts on the theory. According to the local press outlet El Punt Avui, no suicide note was left behind and Protosenya was found without any blood on his body.”

  9. RIP Guy.
No helmet, having a smoke between periods in the change rooms.
He was more of a man than the entire NHL put together is now.

  10. Heard anything recently about the Scarborough mosque shooting of several days ago? Thought not. The legacy media were hoping the culprits would be white supremacists, but they are not, so the story is falling into the memory hole:

” Police say that they do not believe five men who were shot after attending midnight prayers in Scarborough over the weekend were targeted because of their faith.”

And, because political correctness demands it, the police are saying there is no evidence that the incident was gang related:

“Police have said that the victims are all between 28 and 35 years old and should make full recoveries.

“Pogue said that the men had just finished Ramadan prayers at a nearby mosque and were talking amongst one another when they were shot.

She said that while investigators do not believe the shooting was hate-motivated, they are “are not prepared to speak to any other motive at this time.”

“There is no evidence at this time to suggest that the victims did anything to incite this incident or are involved in gang activity,” she said.”

So five young men are shot in a parking lot at 1:00 a.m. in the morning: not hate-motivated and not gang related. What could the motivation possibly be?
