But it should be.
Nearly two years ago, the Chicago Police Department quietly created a special unit to protect Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s home and City Hall and oversee her personal bodyguard detail.
Unit 544 began with a handful of officers and has grown, as of March 21, to a roster of 65 officers, five sergeants and a lieutenant, city records show.
Like previous Chicago mayors, Lightfoot also has a separate personal bodyguard detail, which includes about 20 officers, the records show.

A lizard queen needs a Praetorian guard.
And here is just one of her statements about defunding the police because the Internet is forever.

Hypocrite, I name thee, Lightweight. How much is your security costing you, twerp?
One of the main reasons that leftists are so attracted to politics: they can’t make much money in the private sector, and they know that they can live an elite lifestyle on taxpayers’ money once they are elected.
I can’t question the “defund the police” crowd anymore.
It would be hypocrisy on my part.
I have no problem with police if and only if the application of law is impartial and equal (neither of those last two criteria exist today).
I don’t blame her for making the taxpayers pay to protect her. They voted for her so they can eat a big shit sandwich.
Power move. Nothing makes you feel like you’re all that and a bag of chips by having your own security detail.
Aaaaaaaaaand Chicago voters will probably do it again come Feb. 2023.
Her security detail is almost 10% of the CPD available for duty.
How many homicides are they solving?
How many car-jackings are they preventing?
I really miss Second City Cop blog.
Maybe she should consider buying horses and just have them trample whoever gets in her way. It’s what we do in Canada and the cops love to watch the highlight reels.
Dan S. ………That is Chicago, she could just shoot them if she wanted to.
She sure as hell looks like a comic book character.
