New York Times- Shenzhen imposes a lockdown and Shanghai restricts nonessential travel
Two of China’s largest cities, Shenzhen and Shanghai, imposed stringent restrictions on Sunday on the movements of their residents, as a coronavirus outbreak continued to spread across much of mainland China.
A lockdown in Shenzhen might further disrupt global supply chains, because Shenzhen has one of the world’s largest ports. An outbreak in Shenzhen in late spring of last year held up port operations and caused a steep spike in global shipping rates that helped drive up prices for imported goods in the United States and elsewhere.
This must be a different China. Back in August 2021, they were Covid free with zero new cases. They told us so. And, we SHOULD trust them since the folks announcing this amazing achievement were the same people who were informing the WHO so diligently and accurately.
Amusingly, one of the few countries still “trying” to negate the virus in its entirety is having the biggest problems. There might be a lesson in there somewhere. But, it’s going to take some digging.

It seems convenient that covid pops up when you want to further disrupt the supply chain. I wonder if affects shipments to Russia?
Seriously. Otherwise, you’d have thought they all had natural immunity by now, and the entire country hit herd immunity. And since they developed their own vaccines and are authoritarian enough, they must have a very high vaccination rate. Unless their vaccines have created a wicked case of vaccine-induced autoimmune disease. Or antibody dependent enhancement (ADE).
Or it’s all bullshit. Hard not to be skeptical of every single thing these days.
Looks like China is planning to grow its economy again.

This is weird. In Hong Kong there are even reports that omicron is hitting them so hard people are dropping dead in the streets. I’ll make some guesses.
1) This is a cover up for a cleansing of Hong Kong.
2) This is a cover up for screwing the supply chain some more.
3) The Chinese vaccine is causing a very severe antibody dependant reaction to omicron that is killing people.
4) It’s not omicron, it’s something else.
5) China is using this to cover up a systematic depopulation effort.
6) All of the above.

I choose 5. No surprise.
The Pfizer documents show all kinds of death and carnage caused by the shots. And all Western governments went to extremes to make sure everyone got several of those shots. That screams depopulation agenda to me.
Why wouldn’t China?
That is the most cynical thing I’ve seen posted on here. I’m working on a skin-blistering response that will make you cringe with embarrassment and wish you’d joined a monastery after you graduated. I’ll be posting it later. But so far I’ve got nothing.
I read that a sea-going shipping container that used to book for $3-$4,000 is now going for up to $40,000 – if you can book one.
I also read that the Americans track off-shore cargo carriers up to 150 miles offshore and have a public tracking app to count the number waiting to dock. When it became apparent that the number of waiting ships was spiraling out of control the US told many of the cargo carriers to move farther offshore, outside the 150 mile limit so that they wouldn’t be counted. Of course the count dropped to a more manageable number. But then someone found another counting index which tracks the port-to-port number of days for a shipping carrier. This number went from the typical 30-40 days to over 120 on average and in some cases up to 240 days. Imagine waiting for your Chinese vegetables. At least the Chinese wine is more than 2 weeks old – silver lining of the day.
Couple that with the possible ten-fold increase in shipping container cost, and China may start to feel the hurt. Deservedly so.
Well, we’re going to feel it too, no doubt.
Non essential travel to China would be a good start, followed by gradual winding down of trade and crap made through cheap labour…..Never happen of course, people love so-called dollar stores, a buck and a bit keeps them rolling.
Not to forget the high end, big name products made there keeping greedy guts rich.
Forget human rights or morals. This all gives credence to the saying “money is the root of all evil”.
There are always epidemics in China and their economy is a fiction on paper.
When do they invade Taiwan?
I can’t afford to shop Amazon. All my shopping is done at the grocery store and gas station now, with an occasional trip to the liquor store.
I stop at the liquor store first, and if there’s money left I go to the grocery store.
A short but pleasant life, much preferable to a long and unpleasant one.
Benjamin Franklin had it right when he said beer is proof of God’s love.
Maybe I’ll have to rejigger my priorities.

This god dammed virus is bullshit, this has to stop. The level of stupid required to keep this shit going is a disgrace. When the hell did everyone lose their tiny minds? I don’t give a rats ass about “the” Ukraine. Men have been killing each other, along with their wives and children for thousands of years. Have any of you progressed beyond primitive man? NO.
Much of the mayhem arises from the belief that progression beyond the primitive man is possible. It isn’t. The best we can do is mitigate some of the harm. The sooner we start to deal with what is instead of trying to fix what is, the sooner things will get better. Don’t hold your breath, it ain’t gonna happen in this cycle of “civilization.”
