Naomi Wolf: The Fall of Canada, The Danger in the US

[I]n this essay I wish to explain, especially to Canadians, what martial law really is, and how very dangerous it is, since many leaders there, especially Parliamentarians, appear to be in the treacherous “hangover” state of thinking that they still inhabit the old world that died when Justin Trudeau declared emergency law. I also wish to warn what happens historically at this moment in the decline of a formerly democratic nation, and what the murder of Canadian democracy — at least for now — means to the rest of the world.

Parliamentarians in Canada do not seem to understand that now their former colleague, Justin Trudeau, can arrest not just truckers, whose lawful protest has been declared illegal, but also the Parliamentarians themselves. This is, sadly, the next step in this kind of drama, historically. It is an extraordinarily dangerous sign that Parliament is not seated. When the Australian Parliament was suspended, by the time they reconvened, their powers had been dramatically curtailed. Tyrants seek to normalize the convening of Parliaments as “optional” or to suspend normal Parliamentary processes long enough to hollow out a legislative body’s deliberative powers, and to ensure that when and if a Parliament (or a Congress, for that matter) meets again, it will be merely a ceremonial assembly.

Parliamentarians in Canada also do not seem to understand that “dictator” is no longer rhetorical. A member of Parliament was shushed when he cried out this epithet, but the fact is that this is not a slur at this point. Justin Trudeau is by definition now in fact a dictator.

  1. It’s what I’ve been saying for years…at least since the Patriot Act: you don’t give powers to your enemies that can be used against you, nor do you give yourself powers that can be used against you by your enemies when the roles reverse.

    In this particular case, no politician in Canada seems to understand that they’re not exempt from the Desperate Measures Act: they can all go down at His Sockness’s whim. All of them. When they realise that, maybe we can start moving either back towards freedom, or away to separation.

Wolf’s scholarship is sufficiently risible – she’s written two separate political books based entirely on fictitious data, and been roundly humiliated in public both times – that anything she says needs to be rigorously checked against primary sources. Including that the sky is blue and water is wet.

          This opinion column about the dangers of government power should be given no more and no less weight than, say, any of Colonialista’s comments. Which is an unfair comparison for Colonialista, who despite not being a Very Famous Author is at least consistent and doesn’t blatantly lie.

I think the focus should not be on Wolfe’s credentials — they seem to me to be as ” impressive” as Chrysta’s — instead, pay attention to her argument which is based on historical precedent. I am concerned that a dictatorial government could get away with quite a lot in Canada, as Canadians themselves are quite intolerant of alternative views. They like to think that government is protecting them, and that Canada is morally superior to other countries. Canadians will sacrifice quite a lot to preserve that illusion. For example, many have no problem with a press that is largely controlled by government or punitive actions that violate the Charter, so long as the target is someone with conservative views.

          2. Credentials mean nothing, zero, to me. Frankly, I often find the well-credentialed to be the most clewless on a given topic.

            And if someone brings up credentials as a defence in an argument, it’s a logical fallacy, ie., Appeal to Authority.

          First questions I ask myself of people who have just had their alleged “Coming to Jesus” moment: Why? What was the proverbial last straw? What’s the angle? Are they merely opportunists attempting to take advantage of a swinging political flag? Are they “spies”, playing for both sides? Or have they truly come to their senses?

Interesting isn’t it, that if the comparison of hitler is brought up, that, the immediate response for the so called “media”, so called “academics”, so called “politicians” is to go straight to 1939 hilter. It’s as if he magically appeared in September of 1939, and had no prior life to that date. It shows how weak a mind that these people have, how weak of convictions they show, how weak and puerile that their arguments have become. Hitler started the ball rolling way before 1939, it was the so called non-aggression acts that paved the way to 1939 hitler, but, acknowledging that would destroy the lefts story, “how dare you compare anyone to hitler”.   7. We’re drowning and Ms.Wolf is describing the water. A good portion of Canadians are well aware of the negative aspects of martial law, those that don’t know don’t care and are simply too lazy. I guess you could say we’re more interested in solutions.
    The current state of affairs in Canada is so frighteningly similar to the Nazis rise to power in the ’30s you’d think there was a despot recipe they’re following to a T. Professionals, Unions, Educators, Media, Corporations, Financial system, Courts…the fix is in.
    And just a historical reminder…freedoms and liberties have never ever been handed back…it always had to be fought for.
    Make of that whatever you like. Have to soften the language so as not to get Macmillan in trouble.

      I’m beginning to wonder if Canada is being used as the test platform for the eventual one world government we’ve heard so much about. I don’t want to descend too far down the conspiracy bunny hole, but after two years into the creation of our new State religion of total government control, it doesn’t seem that far fetched.

        1- Our senate throws out the E.A.
        2- The US continues to cleanse the dems out at every level and more so reclaims the house and senate this coming November so that Biden is immobilized until 2024.

    TRUE freedom can only be taken by those that wish to be free, and fought for tooth and nail against those that would try to take it away from us.

No rules now, political debate is gone unless the vaunted ‘Rule of Law’ is rigorously applied . However we all suspect that that will only happen in one direction, sort of like the difference between BLM or environmental protestors and truckers . Where is the room for accommodation when the loser in this struggle loses absolutely? All of the political parties are revealed, where are the clear choices? Everyone is conservative about what they know, Russell Brand and Naomi Wolfe had that rug pulled out from under them

        1. Actually, I strongly agree with her question regarding the police. They went out of their way to hide their identity. That should be illegal. I have no idea who the thugs dressed in black were. Do you?
          Wolfe’s analysis is based on historical precedent, and every government move from Emergency declaration, conttol of the press and censorship for “hate” speech not yet spoken points in that direction. Why do you think we are immune to such tyranny? Germans were not.

      Peaceful protest is a legal activity.
      If the peaceful protest is very, very large, and very, very enduring, that means the grievances being aired are that much more legitimate, and by banning this form of purely democratic expression, democracy itself is being attacked.

  20. I think Wolfe has come to her senses. She is knowledgeable about the vaccines and the Big Tech/globalist agenda. It is really not hard to draw comparisons with what is happening now and with past totalitarian regimes. The mistake that many Canadians make is in thinking that Canada continues to operate as a sovereign nation, when in fact, we are heavily under globalist control. The globalist agenda is for one- world government, and that is where we are headed. Liberals and the NDP are very much onside.

  22. Is anybody else wondering if Biden, and other western leaders, push for a tense relation with Putin in order to be justified in establishing martial laws in their respective countries? I believe it’s not an absurd hypothesis after what we witnessed in Canada, something unthinkable for me a few weeks ago: it’s been an experiment and the monsters saw that most people is ready to accepted it, if not to cheer.
