In Canada, we have now arrived at the point where mass protest over pandemic measures has erupted into what might best be described as an insurgency. And Justin could scarcely have handled this in a worse fashion. He appears eager to let the crushing begin.

By positioning the protestors as “those who fly racist flags” – as a fringe minority with unacceptable views – Trudeau committed a fatal error: he left himself no face-saving exit from the imminent and predictable crisis that would befall him. No respectable politician can strike a deal with such undesirables after libeling them in the way that he did. The only path left was to crush them.

By granting himself the discretion to freeze the banking privileges of citizens without a court order or judicial review based on nothing more than a politician’s nebulous definition of “involved,” Trudeau has indeed gone full dictator.

        Strange coincidence, I wondered this myself earlier today. Particularly Jean Chretien, who signed the precious Canada Constitution Act 1982 right after Trudeau did. Oh, how treasured a document that was, we were all told at the time. How fortunate we were to be given our rights; we were instructed to be grateful. No public lectures now? No pious platitudes about our precious rights, about how democracy is NOT “the many overpowering the few”?

        Where are you, you senile old fool? Don’t want to jeopardize all your China trade kickbacks if you tick off Junior?

        Where’s Mr. Human Rights? Mr. Ed (I’m outraged) Broadbent? He sat opposite Trudeau during the constitutional debate. Has he shuffled off the mortal coil and no longer drawing his inflation-protected government pension? Or is he just snickering at all the rubes who fell for his sanctimonious con job all these years?

    Any protest can be deemed to be illegal and you get stuff seized and bank accounts emptied.

Finally the national socialists were seen as backsliders, as all socialists had to adhere to the International movement, and were expelled from the international socialists (see Jagmeet Singh) thus they were ‘far right’.

  12. There may be violent extremists in Ottawa, Antifa. BLM, environment types and so forth. There are Trudeau’s designated hitters, ala the FBI on Jan 6. This should but the nail in the coffin of the liberal/ndp brand but there are lots of historically ignorant people. Perhaps we should as Putin to facilitate negotiations?

    But heres my main contention. If he’s got absolutely nothing to GAIN, the mandates would be gone….No.? So why this unbelievable Tyrannical shot across the bow…??? Why the push to mandate the vaxx on folks who’ve mostly gotten jabbbed and have kept things going pretty smooth. It makes no sense….

    As I’ve posited previously there is a Personal financial incentive here of some kind, be it promisary from the WEF, or his own personal stake in Arbutus -Acuitas Pharmaceuticals….. I’m leaning towards both.

    1. I keep wondering why too. Why push so hard on the mandates even when it was clear they no longer made sense. I suspect it’s the simple fact that for the left what they really want is obedience. Their policies and objectives might change over time but what really drives them crazy is not being obeyed. I’ve seen it with left-leaning friends and family. It offends them deeply and an animal-level that having decided that vaccinations are important that someone somewhere refuses to get it. For a egotistical politician, the fury must be even greater.

      I think everything else flows from that.

        This is the ends that justifies the means for TurdHole. He will be dictator. He will abuse the emergency powers to crush his opposition. Then he will seize all property. You will own nothing and be happy.

  14. You know who likes to block streets and occupy property? Leftist protesters, especially “environmentalists”. They also get a lot of foreign donations. As annoying as they usually are I’ve always supported their right to do so. I really don’t think that the left is going to like the precedents they are setting.

    1. It won’t ever be applied to them. Even if the Emergency Act provisions are ever lifted and even if they are not, leftists will always be allowed to riot unmolested.
      Sure, a couple of token “bad apples” will be picked up for optics. They will never be cracked down on.

If Trudeau can keep the state of emergency going indefinitely, (sounds highly improbable, but hasn’t the US been legally in a state of emergency since 9-11 with the defence authorization act?), AND if Trudeau were able to secure 2/3 of MPs to support a motion to delay the constitutionally required election every five years, then he could bypass an election and stay in power longer. It’s in the constitution.

    1. A state of emergency in the US is different than martial law. Trudeau’s emergency powers pretty much martial law and there are almost no limit on them. Your legal and constitutional rights are whatever Trudeau decides they are. The powers must be re-approve monthly from my understanding though by Parliament. I’m sure at some point the Crown might start to ask questions though even if the Liberals and NDP stay in lock-step.

  20. The least precedent that can be set where a dictatorship is not the endgame is: the law can be weaponised against opposition, rivals and enemies.

    Even the worst brain dead leftist should recognise that a government cannot throw a hissy fit and then ruin people as a result. Now it is freezing and seizing assets. The next hissy fit may be hauling people out of their quarters and summarily executing them.

Going to be interesting watching the courts deal with CBC said so as the basis for destroying our freedoms and liberties.
