Probably just a coincidence that this happened the day after Trudeau showered $400M on the Ukraine.
BANK Outages at all big 5 banks!
It’s happening.
Trudeau has crushed consumer confidence in the banks in less than 48 hours. Some ATMs are still allowing cash to be pulled out but going empty.
The bank has now locked up EVERYONES funds!

UPDATE: RBC login page is back, but online banking access unavailable.
🚨Canada’s largest banks are all offline.
Royal Bank, BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC Bank.
Did Trudeau try to hack into their databases?
Did the U.S. hack them first, to stop it?
What could cause all three to crash on the same day — hours after Trudeau’s expropriation order?

Elsewhere in the Land of Chaos…
NEW from City Hall: @DianeDeans was called into Mayor @JimWatsonOttawa’s office and asked to step down from the police services board. She said no. Mayor is looking to oust her. Board member Sandy Smallwood has tendered his resignation in protest.
Oh, and Trudeau accused Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman of “standing with the Swastika” in the House today. Which as it turns out, is rather awkward.

Yep, looks like nothing….
Except for unintended consequences.
Not all people banking there are convoy supporters, correct?
Go on twitter search type in Bank run Canada. WOW these morons have started a Bank run.

Bloomberg:
[Trudeau’s] new rules make demands of a broad list of entities — including banks, investment firms, credit unions, loan companies, securities dealers, fundraising platforms, insurance companies and fraternal benefit societies.
They must determine whether they’re in “possession or control of property” of a person who’s attending an illegal protest or providing supplies to demonstrators, according to orders published by the government late Tuesday night.
If they find such a person in their customer list, they must freeze their accounts and report it to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or Canada’s intelligence service, the regulations say.
Any suspicious transactions must also be reported to the country’s anti-money-laundering agency, known as Fintrac.
So they call me “Concentration Camp Ehrhardt”?
Canada’s new dragnet, will encompass basically every part of the financial system (including securities dealers) in order to cut off the truckers from funding.

“I think this caught everyone off guard last night when it was released,” said Purpose Investments Inc. CIO Greg Taylor on Bloomberg TV. “There’s a lot of questions right now in figuring out who we’re targeting, what do we have to look at.”
How is this not a repeat of that part of the Nuremberg laws that ejected Jews from government and educational positions?
A Canadian man who has publicly claimed credit for cyber attacks on free speech alternative website Gab and First Amendment domain registrar Epik has a history of being employed and protected by the FBI and Canadian security agencies.
Aubrey Cottle, who is also known by the nickname “kirtaner,” serves as a spokesman for the liberal hacktivist group “Anonymous.” Speaking to the media under his real name, he has strongly implied that he was at least partially responsible for the attack on Gab last February, as well as the leak of credit card information, personal addresses, and names of individuals who have registered domains on Epik in late September.
Cottle and Anonymous’ sudden reemergence has been convenient for the federal government. A number of Donald Trump-themed websites on Epik were being sought out in subpoenas by the Department of Justice related to the January 6th protests. If the Epik leaks are proven genuine, the FBI has found itself a short cut to the private data of political targets.
“Kirtaner” is a controversial figure in the hacktivist community, including among leftists. Frederick Brennan, the former administer of 8chan, has even stated that Cottle openly flouts federal laws and appears to not fear any consequences.
According to a PDF of screenshots published by a rival group of anarchists, Cottle has a long-standing employment history with both the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Cottle, in his own words, has stated that he helped the FBI develop a child pornography honeypot and that he has dealt “often” with the feds.
In another exchange, he went into detail about being approached by the Canadian Security Intelligence Services (CSIS), and divulged that most young hackers are approached by the intelligence community to work for the state when they are identified.
The leader of Anonymous’ most telling confession came in a tweet published June 6th, 2020, where Cottle writes that his group is at the minimum allowed to break the law with the permission of American and Canadian authorities: “i was the lucky one to have the blessing of alphabet agencies to weaponize anonymous (as an antiterrorism thing, to boot), those that came after me, not so much.”
Anonymous, according to its own leader’s words, appears to be a COINTELPRO style operation enabled by Canadian and American intelligence services. The trajectory of the group circumstantially supports this theory, as their targets ebb and flow according to Washington’s interests at the moment.
If your details were leaked in the GiveSendGo hack get yourself a lawyer and sue this hacker who is bragging about committing a crime.
Sure, he’s protected from criminal prosecution – civil action? Not so much.
Aubrey Cottle, AKA “Kirtaner”, has a self admitted history of working with various police and intelligence services, from the RCMP, to the FBI, to French “authorities”, to Interpol.
Kirtaner began targeting the Freedom Convoy immediately after The Freedom Convoy assets got seized and banks froze accounts, indicating active coordination with the government and financial institutions.
Kirtaner wrote a manifesto explaining why he hacked the Freedom Convoy Givesendgo, to “stop an insurrection”, to prevent “foreign political influence”, and to “stop truckers from terrorizing cities”.
Kirtaner has posted his own CSIS investigational work records on twitter.
Don’t know what Ezra is talking about. I’ve had no trouble signing into my online banking today.
It apparently depends on the bank. Went to RBC on behalf of a client early on and was okay but – a few hours later – they were down. Finally was able to get back on late in the afternoon.
You seem to be correct.
Canazuela
I tried to get through to TD Visa to ask about transferring my ‘cash back’ money and my ‘rewards points’ money from my two cards to a bank account before cancelling the two cards permanently.
Twice [once under ‘press1 general inquiries’ and once under ‘press 5 for rewards points questions’] and both times after being told ‘higher volume than normal; we’ll talk to you in X minutes’ as usual, even at the best of times years ago, a new prerecorded message came on stating that “due to technical difficulties we cannot talk to you right now; your business is important to us so please call back later” and then it automatically hung-up on me.
The same happened when I called TD’s regular bank line using my access card/debit card info.
I’m going to a branch tomorrow in person and will see if I can cancel the cards then.
At this point it *is* nothing.
I have this funny feeling that thousands of kids are going to be in Ottawa soon.
Totally backfiring on the Trudeau’s order.
Fuck Joe Biden? Yeah … and Fuck the Hell out of Justin Trudeau … seriously … The Canadian Liberal Party need to Fuck him up really good. Along with that know-nothing Chrysta Freeland, Semour Butts … Theresa Tam … the whole LOT of EM.
If 80% of leftist San Francisco voters can RECALL … read: say Fuck YOU to all 3 CRT-teaching, COVID-fascist, mural-covering, multi-school name-changing IDIOTS on their FAILING School Board … then you can completely Fuck-over your whiney little thin-skinned twit of a PM
I don’t understand how there isn’t a whole bunch of Liberals who won’t stand up to this fool with his nonsense.
Where are they? Only 3 Quebec MPs? Are they all this corrupted?
Cult members.
They belong to a cult that was established in 1968 with the election of Pierre Trudeau.
before a person can run for the liberal party he has to shed all forms of integrity and conscience
Like snakes who shed their skin, it just comes naturally.
Installing tracking software?
If so I’d expect to see this with other organizations in the near future as well. I think banks would resist middle of the day stuff and push it into prod during a maintenance window at night.
From comments seen it sounds like their online banking is in trouble.
It’s a terrible feeling that one would be a victim of government criminals. My first thought when none of my accounts showed up when I opened the app. I was checking on a scheduled monthly transaction.
I despise doing anything on line. If you can go into a branch and withdraw money then the system itself is up.
Seeing that this is affecting multiple institutions now I wonder if there is a problem with a 3rd party supplier that all the banks use to run a portion of their ntwks. To me this sounds more like a fault than the banks all activating s/ware at gov’t orders. Banks do this type of work in the off peak hours and are very careful not to put themselves off the air. If you make a mistake like this you’ll lose your job. I have to believe that they wouldn’t have pushed back to delay this until the next overnight mtce window.
And not all customers are convoy supporters.
Do you think those customers are happy?
Will they be pissed off at the turd? Or the Convoy?
Considering the average IQ in this country, I’ll just consider your question rhetorical.

Even the private banking is a cluster&#^%. Was supposed to move a bunch of money around today and they told me it would now be tomorrow. I told them that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence given the circumstances and they were well aware of how it looked.
For Jim Watson to call Deans on the carpet is unheard of. That being said, I recommend all MPs read up on their W.B. Yeats. What Trudeau has unleashed will surely take them down as well.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Scenes I’d like to see. After the swastika comment from the idiot, every conservative MP tear off their masks, throw them on the floor and walk out. Don’t give a crap about protocol, precedent, that’s gone forever.

How many Americans visit Canada? What are the tourist $$?
If your Tyrant in Charge leaves for Davos, mischief just might be unleashed.
If the parties were smart, they wouldn’t let Blackface back in Canada.
Québec is agin the Emergency Measures Act, and the premiers of NB, NS, and PEI have also spoken out against it. That makes six provinces so far. Ontario somewhat on the fence, and BC supporting it (that figures; given their government they’re bound to support tyranny).
I’d have to look up the exact number but most Canadians banks have a leverage ratio of 3%-5%. Basically, they lend out around $20 for every $1 deposited I their bank. If people remove their savings deposits en masse then it creates problems. I’m by no means an expert in this area so correct me if I’m wrong.
You are correct. Only a small portion of chequing accounts at banks are readily available in liquid form. The vast majority of the “cash” is actually loaned out at any given time, on the assumption that relatively few people will demand a whole lot of cash. It would not take many depositor withdrawals over normal levels to tip that apple cart.
Banks will not close out your account and give you cash. They will give you a bank draft. Try going anywhere and getting “cash” for it. There will be severe restrictions, and whatever financial institution you go to, they will have to record the transaction and file a report to FinTrack.
The US Federal Reserve dispensed with any reserve restrictions for US banks two years ago. So the system is no longer “fractional reserve banking”; it’s a pure electronic fiat system. Cash is being phased out; 99% of the economy is electronic fiat. What’s true of the Fed and the US is probably also true of the Canadian central bank, only in Canada there is less “transparency” within the financial cartel.
Canada is the most indebted major economy on earth, per GDP and per capita. This is true across all orders of government, and across the business and retail consumer sectors. That money is all owed to the banks. Canadians are debt slaves to the banks. They won’t be going anywhere.
I pulled some cash out of my RBC account yesterday. The bank did not have enough $100 bills to cover the withdrawel.
Small amounts of cash withdrawals are fine; that’s why cash still exists. It remains legal tender, for the moment. But if you want thousands in cash, no dice. Here’s a nice bank draft for you though. It’s for your protection, sir, I assure you.
There isn’t enough cash for the financial system to operate on a “cash basis”.
The electronic currency in the Canadian economy is 3+ trillion; there is only around 1 billion circulating in cash.
Mike pointed out my error: the correct number for cash in circulation is, as he wrote in his own post, approximately 111 billion (or 0.111 trillion).
The total electronic cash in the Canadian economy is estimated to be around 3.2 trillion.
LC Bennett – The Bank of Canada stands by to provide liquidity to banks if they ever are subject to runs.
Something that hasn’t happened since the Great Depression, I’d think. Would it be quite embarrassing for the government of Canada to cause a bank run due to the heavy handed financial threats via the emergencies act? All to protect Trudeau’s fragile ego.
I guess this is the kind of thing one would expect when the government is losing the consent of the governed.
The Fed has been providing “electronic liquidity” in the overnight repo market for the major US banks to the tune of 1T USD nightly.
There is no liquidity crisis when you have a banking system based on unlimited electronic fiat currency. The kind of financial crisis that IS possible, however, is a Misesian crack-up boom, followed by a crash.
In the words of the greatest economist ever:
“There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved.”
Actually, LC Bennett, unless it’s changed again the reserve ratio was in that neighbourhood but I believe it was reduced to 0%. I remember my shock learning this. Unless it was a nightmare.
I think the banks had to comply with new US government regulations after the 2008 financial/housing crisis but, again, it would be nice to get clarification.
Then there’s the bail-in protocols that came in around the same time. People might want to look at that nightmare scenarion too…and how to protect against your deposits being bailed-in to save the banks. Except for the amount covered by deposit insurance, of course, because that amount is safe ($100,000, if I remember correctly)
The global financial architecture of the bank bail-ins was designed by that great Albertan, Watcher. Ok just kidding, Mark Carney. Actually they are both only part-time Albertans.
Yes, as Pierre Trudeau once quoted: “the universe is unfolding as it should”.
The bail-in is on the bonds, not the deposits. If you own a TD bond, you can wake up with TD shares which in the trigger scenario will not be a good place.
The bank bail-ins first started in Cyprus. It was intended to target Russian money-laundering in the Cyprian banking system. It affected depositors. They all took a haircut, and were only allowed a small amount of withdrawals daily.
LC
Hahahahaha, I just moved most out yesterday, and may just move the rest out soon:-)))
As a kid, I remember stories of first generation Canadians who were so distrustful of banks in their old country that they’d hide cash in odd places instead of using Canadian banks. Hidden places later found by relatives. History often rhymes, I’ve heard.
If Trudeau gets his way, there will be a new Nazi flag. A red and white maple leaf one.
Trudeau’s father was a radical anti-semite, I guess when he adopted Castro’s bastard he taught him well.
In reference to the “standing with the swastika” smear….
Why do the conservatives continue to allow the libs to use the inaccurate smear “people waving swastika flags” and “people waving confederate flags?”
I have said it in other posts, but in both cases it was one guy, one flag.
Every flippin time JT makes the accusation, he needs to be corrected. “Mr Prime Minister, it was one person on one day. It was not ‘flags’ as you keep saying. It was A Flag. If you want to base your entire argument on one guy, one day, you go right ahead and try to do that. Also, I firmly believe he was a provocateur. This is important. Prove me wrong.”
And we suspect that person (persons) may have been a Liberal plant. Yes, it is a cheap shot.
“Mr Prime Minister, why are you still lying about the flags and swastikas?”
If that gets you booted then it gets you booted.
I just tried their phone ap. It’s still down.
For a man who was comfortable running painted in black face he seems sure he knows who Mr. Swastika is and he’s conservative- perhaps he could tell the rest of us the fella’s name? We all know he was a government plant, so they could keep referring to it and paint all those who oppose the Communist Trudope regime as Nazis.
Well, he pulled out invectives from his magic cloak o’woke: vous etes racist; vous etes misogynist, etc. But the demonization was just the excuse to loot the bank accounts. He is a national and international disgrace who has thrown his country into turmoil.
This financial freeze is a great argument for allowing US banks to operate in Canada. Because future dictators would be more reluctant to institute a financial freeze if it included American owned banks.
Anyone know if the American operations of RBC, TD bank etc. are observing this freeze? I think such a move would be actionable in US courts.
please, it would be easier, one call center in Bombay and it’s gone.
Weimar Republic comes to mind.

I can’t stop laughing. Every time he opens his mouth he inflames the situation. If he hasn’t figured it out yet, he is now on the world stage and his complete lack of awareness is on display for all to see.
I think he’s so full of rage and hatred that he can’t think straight, going after people’s bank accounts using stolen data hacked online will end up in the courts in the end. Those who’ve kept him isolated for the last two years are keeping the facts from him, read the comments on global articles and it’s clear he’s the most loathed leader in the history of this nation. He wants payback because Canadians defied his regime’s order to stop showing support for the truckers. He reminds me of a pissed of wasp, that keeps coming at you until you finally get to squash it or the dog eats it.
I guess they didn’t war game this scenario. Heh

Castreau no longer has a graceful way out of this. Either way, his time as prime minister is coming to an end. He can’t walk back his emergency declaration and mandates without losing so much face he’d have to step down immediately afterward. And with the growing chaos ensuing from his reckless dictatorial behaviour, his Laurentian owners will soon decide the boy must go to calm what is turning into the most inflamed political situation in living memory. As Rex said in his column, it could all have been avoided if Castreau hadn’t taken counsel from his overinflated ego and shown just enough humility to give himself a way out. That he didn’t proves once again how utterly unfit he is for political office.

Um… The Canadian dominion and the UK government supported the Confederacy, historically. If it hadn’t been for Egyptian cotton being a UK/Empire product, they probably would have supported the South a lot more, and done more blockade running. Why is he repudiating an ally from Canadian history, when he is okay with Uyghur and Tibetan slaves making his sneakers?
But Trudope doesn’t know history.
Caisse Pop. online stuff working fine.
I never thought much of it till seeing the SDA post. Was at my RBC branch in MB about 14:30. All computers down and they had no idea why our when it would be back up. Just tried to access RBC online at 16:00. Response: “Sorry we’re having some technical issues, please try again later.
The Trudeau/Morneau (first budget) “bank bail-in” scheme comes to mind.
GRM,
I thought the same thing when I couldn’t log on to my TD account last night. Read SDA posts late this afternoon and got scared. Still can’t access my account. Scotiabank seems to me okay.
Just checked. At 5:18 PM EST, Simplii Financial was up and running normally. Services are provided by CIBC, I believe.
Have hit my bank a few times today to pay a bill and just to see if I might be suspended. No problems for me today. But then again, I don’t really have that much money.
Amazon advised me today that my F*ck Trudeau flag has shipped and should be here by 10:00 pm tonight. My Red Ensign arrived yesterday.
I’ve got CIBC access online right now. As an aside my wife just returned from the supermarket. She said the shelves were looking pretty bare. Vancouver.
Got some change back after going to the store today. One of the $5 bills had an ink message in support of the truckers. Mischief is important.
Wow, I though Biden sucked. Not as hard as Trudeau.
RBC web and app down. Called and they are having phone issues. Call back later. What the hell is going on?
the computers are offline while they run the names and account info.
Either that or they’re using this as an excuse not to run names and accounts info.

Cash and credit unions here we come.
No credit unions. I have seen reports already of credit unions freezing accounts.
This is excellent news.
The following was “deactivated” this morning from the Spawn’s post media:
Perhaps the Nazi flag holder was being overzealous in demonstrating that the parallels of Germany of say, 1933 and Trudeau’s Canada were rather ominous, even more so now that the Banks are apparently agents of the state under the revised War Measures Act. It also doesn’t help that the non-free press, paid for by Trudeau, would love to portray the otherwise peaceful behavior in Ottawa as another Reichstag fire event. One in ten Canadians of my parent’s generation were in uniform fighting against the Nazis while the father of our current PM was protesting against it. Historical trivia or of significance?
The guy with the swastika on the Canadian flag was clearly stating that Canada was a Nazi country. The guy with the Canfederate flag was obviously lost and was escorted out of the neighborhood. Those Liberals and Sikh Separatist Party really do despise the working class.

Everyone is seeing this wrong. This is about pushing you to electronic banking, so they can track everything. You will still be able to use your debit and CC but the cash thing is what they want to remove. There is no run, but that doesn’t stop them claiming that is the problem. Don’t underestimate your enemy.
@Indiana Jane
You are way smarter than the average Canadian dumbo. You are 100% correct; thank you.
Agreed
RBC down, Simplii up.
This can’t be just a coincidence.
Well, the banks are certainly smarter than turdo. And just as power-hungry.
They would (should?) know full well that compliance with turdo’s demands would precipitate a loss of client confidence that would not end well for them. So maybe this is just a little tremor that they’re sending out to Joostaihn.

Andrew Scheer (seconded by Pierre Poilievre) table Bank of Canada Accountability Act
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BUtKcSq0s0I
Apparently Bank of Canada not subject to audits.
Neither is the Fed. They “permitted” a one-time, PARTIAL audit at the behest of Ron Paul, when he was the chairman of a congressional finance sub-committee. They extracted a concession that the Fed would never be subject to another audit ever again, partial or otherwise.
Even with only a partial audit, Paul was able to confirm that the Fed was orchestrating hundreds of billions (at the time) in currency swaps with foreign central banks. They had been strenuously denying it for years. They lied. They continue to perform currency swaps with foreign central banks. That is why Canada’s currency hasn’t yet crashed. It is propped up by the Fed. The entire global financial system has the electronic USD at its centre. The USD system is itself supported by the US armed forces, which itself is not subject to a strict audit, and is a trillion dollar line item in the US annual budget.
Because it is the private property of the Crown.
