Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What few may recall, that Shackleton’s iced in early shipwreck was months after a two year hiatus of sunspots. Early Spring of the next year, the icebergs season of the north Atlantic ran weeks over the normal season, and some large steamer famously went down, perhaps as the Captain foolishly believed it would be a tiny one as had been in the past sailing seasons.
Capt. Smith judged poorly.
Oh, and we just had a “No Sunspots, here!” season of two years end in 2012. So it may stay chilly for the next 30-40 years, or the next 250 years. I have no idea, but we’re going to find out!
Oh, and that was definitely on topic.
Hi, Kate!
Alfred Lansing’s book, “Endurance”, is a good book with some candid (for the time) photos.
Do read if one can.
