      If they wish to live in a dictatorship then they can suffer crowds arriving at their home addresses and harassment at every turn.

  29. Look to the Regina Riots of 1935 for precedence. The rail trekkers were there for a couple of weeks before they were ambushed by local police, backed up by the rcmp. Civilian casualties in the market square were followed by a couple of days of skirmishes between protesters and police forces. The original intention was to arrest only the protest leaders but then things turned ugly.

    Remember: the Canadian government could just remove mandates and other restrictions like a half dozen or more European countries and the UK…and this would end tomorrow.

So if I have this right, the Charter allows the freedom to peacefully protest, however the politicians and petty bureaucrats are allowed to dictate the meaning of what constitutes a peaceful protest and where said protest can be held. I sincerely hope that the people who voted these tyrants into office are taking note. If taxpayer funded civil servants keep pushing their ‘appointed’ authority on the very people that pay their salaries and grant them their authority this peaceful protest might take a turn for the worst. Maybe the truckers instead of taking their concerns to Ottawa they could start a trucking boycott of Ottawa. In that vein maybe taxpayers that fund these charlatans of government and law and order could boycott the Canada Revenue Agency, after all isn’t it against the law to take money by force. There is not one single Canadian that voted for the Income Tax Act. The Act was instituted by an act of Parliament ostensibly for our own good. Since that enactment it has gone nowhere but up and yet our ‘good’ has diminished. Time to rethink this whole charade we call Canada.

  33. The truckers should call this bluff. They don’t have the resources to prosecute 10s of thousands in any reasonable time frame, and the political fallout for a decade or more of trials that would result in enacting this threat would be epic.

The legacy media conspire with the police chief to prevent the public from knowing anything about, or even naming, the gangs involved, who are actually well known to police. The reason is that the gang members are all ‘visible minorities”. If the gangs were members of motorcycle gangs, we would know the names of the gangs and who their leaders were.

    This police chief has done nothing to stem the sharp rise in gang violence and has said he can do nothing because it is a “societal problem”.

  42. The police are enacted to investigate crimes and complaints and to bring the perpetrators to justice before a court of law. They are not empowered in a free society to dig into anyone’s affairs or history until a crime has been committed or a complaint has been laid. By this officer’s own admission he has overstepped both the law and his authority by stating that he has had his officers investigate licensing and insurance credentials for infractions. It is one thing to check papers on a driver who has been pulled over for a traffic infraction, quite another to walk through a parking lot checking licenses, with the intent to threaten all drivers. If this is the extend of policing in Ottawa then surely the law enforcement in Canada’s capital is vastly overstaffed.
