This is exactly what the Russians and Israelis have had to do to secure their independence: be prepared to show their enemies all the mercy their enemies had ever shown them, which was none at all.

Big business and the welfare crew have seen good times. Those who wanted to make it on their own, not so much.
The partnership of government and the biggest business is a fascist approach. It doesn’t matter which side is pulling the strings, it won’t work. The reason it won’t work is that the heart and soul of the productive segment of society is the middle class. Do away with them at your peril. Do away with the idea of “I can start a business and be a success if I work hard enough” as a death knell for the society.
It’s not that every business that starts will succeed. They won’t. But the idea that “I can succeed” is a powerful motivator. That the Fascists will never understand, because they kill it every time they have a chance. And then they wonder why the economy flounders.
Agree completely. I would posit that the partnership of government and big corporations is the DEFINITION of fascism.
One of the problems with closing downtown Ottawa is that it has been closed down for 22 months.
The filthy leeches “work” from home.
The majority of people downtown are construction and maintenance workers.
I wish I could see this changing things, but sadly, I do not. If it turns into a waiting game?
The cops have all the resources. They’ll be making extra coin. They get to go home after a shift. And then they have JTF2 at the ready and if need be, the boys from Petawawa.
I love their spirit but I fear its all for nothing.

Juthtin doesn’t give a shit about anything but his power and luxury and neither do the Liberals. They know they can’t lose and they’ll ensure it. The media is on board with the government and so are the majority of residents of Ottawa.

A truck brings it in and if they fear to venture out , a truck delivers it.
Put a kibosh on that and things start to happen.
There are many people who live above stores and in the condo towers and in the former office buildings which have been turned into condos. I love that the truckers are blasting their horns at night – major sleep interruptions. I remember the first 3 months of my daughter’s life when she developed colic. The hours of walking her beside the furnace (the fan lulled her to sleep) but as soon as I put her down to go to sleep myself, she would wake and start crying again. We survived, but I was very tired and not a happy woman.
This will end in the most Canadian way possible.
The truckers will sit there for several days.
They will get bored.
The media will get bored.
Everyone will gradually disperse.

Most have been working steady for last two years,with very little to spend money on.
Should this “Trucker Protest” fail,no hardship for many to take a “holiday”.
For the rewards of working are racketing down again,as costs and taxes multiply.
As a tiny minority guilty of wrong think,I am sure the righteous citizens will never miss the truckers services.
You could think of this part of the protest as pt1 and already the Slime Minister has fled in panic.
And in Justine’s world the Goods will move themselves.
Now when I believed in the forms and institutions of civil society,I would have supported this protest intensely..
I believe we are so far gone,that the forms cannot save us.
We see one third of our citizen comrades exposed as the same cretinous lovers of Big Government,that brought us the National Socialists in the 1930s.
The same unthinking stupidity that a group is smarter than any individual and thus entitled to crush the individual.
I doubt protest is going to solve our impasse.
But I can pray that the Truckers have the guts to try.
Dread Covid has revealed how useless and dangerous our government truly is.
Those afflicted with Delusions of Adequacy are still insisting upon helping us.
There is no cure for stupidity this institutionalized.

The Truckers need to wait out Trudeau’s self imposed convenient 5 day “work from home” isolation then demand he give some answers.
I have long wondered how front line receptionists and federal workers who actually need to work with people in person can work from home. Ditto for provinces and municipalities.
