skill testing question: how ‘greeeeeeeen’ is a bicycle?
l will NO LONGER be able to tie PLASTIC bags to my carrier loaded down with 60 pounds of groceries
and then cut them off when l get home because . . . .
aaaaaaand whut contingency did prime minister closet communist come up with to address that?
p.s. whut health benefits do you dear SDA believe there are bicycling everywhere?
Well cyclists are best deposited under car tires to begin with. So while the ban is idiotic for all sorts of reasons, at least it makes your life harder and discourages you from getting in the way of your betters who drive.
discourages you from getting in the way of your betters who drive
That kind of attitude is one reason I try to avoid major streets while cycling. Edmonton drivers seem to like using cyclists for target practice.
As a motorist, I share the road with people on bicycles.
That’s the problem B, you’re not doing your part to keep the streets clean. If you did not share you would discourage more cyclists from using the road. :p
The alleyway bluebin cryisers keep stealing our bikes.
And then ditch others w/o seats, wheels, you know, the essentials.
The UofC tried a free onsite bikeshare, really ugly colored bikes, so ugly that stolen/ridden off-campus no one bothered to return them. Or they ended up in the Bow River next to de-energized electric scooters, traffic pylons, grocery carts, lawn furniture.
Lol!
Be prepared for more plastic cardboard drink box thingies.
Perhaps the greatest moments in Canadian politics.
So now instead of reusing plastic grocery bags as lunch bags and garbage bags, I’ll have to buy plastic garbage bags and lunch bags.
But but but those paper bags are made of partially recycled paper.
Yes indeed, especially here in BC, the hypocrisy is obvious for those that are to look.
Paper bags were virtually outlawed here 20 years ago, SAVE THE TREES! So, which trees are now sacrificial, and which ones aren’t and must be worshipped, prayed to, and considered deities by the enviroloons? It’s hard to keep track of the Woke Double Standards of the Left nowadays!
You’ll be so poor you won’t have stuff to carry in the Brave New World so you won’t need paper or plastic bags.
That’s because you’ll own nothing….. but you’ll be happy! (Any bets that Schwabbo is deeply depressed because of all his weath?)
When the cashier hands me my sack I always say “oh, I guess clear-cutting forests is okay again.” I’m getting more and more sighs and “yeah, I know” from them. The people are starting to figure out the rules are arbitrary.
Saving the trees?
Entire fricken forests are being cut down here in North America and reduced to pellets to be burned locally as well as sent overseas to create electricity to run electric cars and microwaves. All to what? Save the earth? To stave off global warming?
Seriously?
Actually, trees are being cut down here. Logs are shipped to the UK to be processed into pellets and then shipped back in bags for sale in foreign owned mega hardware stores advertised as sustainable green energy.
Greenie watermelons fall for all sorts of drivel.
Yes, arbitrary rules are central to the marxist demoralization programme. You are not to know if you’re coming or going and you’re too tired to figure it out.
Are plastic masks OK ?
Watch plastic bags become a status symbol enjoyed by those with family in China.
“Around 90% of all river-borne plastic that ends up in the ocean comes from just 10 rivers”
“By analyzing the waste found in the rivers and surrounding landscape, researchers were able to estimate that just 10 river systems carry between 88 and 99% of the plastic that ends up in the ocean from rivers.
Eight of them are in Asia: the Yangtze; Indus; Yellow; Hai He; Ganges; Pearl; Amur; Mekong; and two in Africa – the Nile and the Niger.” – World Economic Forum
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/06/90-of-plastic-polluting-our-oceans-comes-from-just-10-rivers/
And all that plastic waste comprises some ~50% of plastics found in our Oceans…the rest..??
Discarded FISHING GEAR…and who is it that consumes the vast majority of the oceans bounty….???
ASIANS…overfishing to the Max….period.
End of story.
Nuke the Asians – Save the Oceans.
Seems if the rate of fishing remains at todays levels….DEAD Oceans in 20 yrs or less…GARANTEED
Well we do know it doesn’t come from the North Saskatchewan or the Bow River, or any other North American river – by their own studies.
As far as Asian countries you can also count carbon emissions, harmful pesticide usage, strip mining and a host of other Leftist environmental issues that get a pass due to Liberal RACISM.
“That would devastate Canada’s EV industry — small today but poised to increase significantly given Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s mandates requiring 50% of all new car, SUV and pickup truck sales to be zero emission by 2030, 100% by 2035.”
So, just how many EV’s does the Little Shit King currently have in his huge motorcade fleet?
What? None? I’m shocked, I tell you! Shocked!

Wherever my dog shits, I’m leaving it right there. Thanks Justin.
mail it to him?
What you said.
LOL.
The Bomb Squad will be pleased if everybody contributes.
“…mail it to him?”
Together with a copy of “Painting with Feces for Dummies”
I’ve considered doing that with certain medical samples…..
For our dog Jack we use small green poop bars, which are torn off a large bag roll. So the last two days my wife and I have been worried about what to do, once Trudeau’s plastic ban comes in. We Googled this burning question, and what dame out was a lengthy discussion about how environmentally unsound the plastic poopers were. So there are biodegradable baggies out there, but they make dog scooping difficult.
“Biodegradable” is bullshit to begin with. Nothing biodegrades in a landfill; it’s an anaerobic environment. Landfills in southern California dating back to the 1930s have been excavated containing cabbages that look like they just came out of the grocery store and newspapers that are still intact and readable.
Remember: the environmental movement is what the anti-nuclear movement morphed into after the Soviet Union fell. It’s always been a Communist subversion front; its target is the economy, not conservation.
I quit recycling when it became obvious the environmental movement was really about the political environment.
Daniel.
++++/\ 100% True..as is all the Leftist inspired HorseShit planet wide…LGBTFKANYONE, TRANS, CLIMATE CHANGE, COVID, DIVERSITY, EQUITY, Public Service Unions, Feed the Homeless, Fentanyl et all….100% of it – 100% of the time.
I was in a Barnes and Noble the other day, and the cashier told me that next month they would no longer be providing bags for purchases. She then gave me the look and asked if I would like the three books I purchased bagged.
I asked, why? Why were they no longer going to provide the convenience of bagged purchases. She told me that plastic isn’t biodegradable, and that the bags were not manufactured using renewable energy. I nodded, leaned in and whispered… “Barnes and Noble should provide biodegradable bags produced using renewable energy, don’t you think? But, here’s the thing. Your Barnes and Noble executives and bean counters figured out that doing that would cost too much. That’s how much they care about the environment, and more importantly, their/your customers. Have a nice day. And, yes, I would like a bag for each book individually, they are going to separate locations.
When they brought in the charge for plastic bags I used to delight in purchasing a random prime number of bags in the hundreds, and asking for them to be counted individually so I could be assured I was receiving the bags I paid for. This would inevitably result in the manager being summoned and after a calm, reasonable conversation about the many uses of grocery store plastic bags and why I wanted exactly 737 of them, they would often offer to just give me a larger number of bags for the same price so I could be assured I was getting all the bags I paid for.
“Ah. So you’ll give me an extra 63 bags for free, then? [pause] But you can’t give me these three bags for free with my groceries?”
given that the bags that loblaws and the like are bought in the range of $0.0012 per bag, or probably less, when the government “forced” them to start charging for them, it was probably one of the items in the store with the biggest mark-ups…
but things like that can’t be said out loud
The mark-up on bags is one of the biggest scams the Westin family perpetrated.
No. Price fixing the price of bread was the biggest scam from the westons
A close second was trudeau giving them 15 million of taxpayers money to buy “energy efficient fridges” from China.
We “buy” a $0.10 degradable bag for groceries instead if paying twice that for a box of same bags.
Toronto Maple Leaf fans have been lost since the brown paper grocery bag disappeared.
Much like losing the paper Globe and Mail for birds in cages.
how many jobs will it cost to “eliminate” plastic bags?

Well, Barnes and Noble didn’t think it through. They remove a convenience to an already fledgling business. More people will just order from Amazon. Barnes and Noble ends up closing stores. I can, almost, guarantee you that they are under the misapprehension that their demographic customer base overwhelmingly supports this move. But, here’s the thing. Who reads more? Conservatives or Liberals? Who buys more books?
If you go by the overreaching opinion of the condescending Left, they will always equivocate the Right with banjo twanging, teeth missing uneducated types (like they do in every movie, television show, or SNL skit). However, anecdotal evidence suggests the absolute opposite. Every Right leaning book always seems to find it’s way up the purchase scale and become best sellers…so much so that the NYT Best Sellers list actively boycotts their participation in their listings (Mark Levine is a good example). A Liberal will always tell you they are more educated than the Right and they equivocate that with reading more books…and Barnes and Noble buys into it. Personally, I don’t think it’s true. Most of my Liberal friends don’t even buy books. They actually wait until what they want is available at a local library.
This is all a long way of saying that actual stores are going to suffer from their own ignorance by removing the convenience of visiting their stores giving the virtual store another leg up. I find it interesting how the Left’s own prejudices seem to do the most damage to themselves.
The environment doesn’t seem to dissuade Amazon from over packaging their shipments. In our locale they don’t collect cardboard so we must make the ritual pilgrimage to the cardboard dump and the deposit the cardboard into the bins which predominantly Amazon boxes. So much for saving the environment.
“This analysis identified the following six single-use plastic items that the Government is moving forward to prohibit:
checkout bags
cutlery
foodservice ware made from or containing problematic plastics
ring carriers
stir sticks
straws”

About those reusable cloth bags, does anyone know where those cloth bags in front of you have been prior to going to the store and sitting on the grocery belt or counter while they are filled up? Were they washed or were they in the closet under the shoes worn by someone out in the doggie park or under the shoes of some hospital worker or in the back of the car on the floor or, or,…
Just kind of thinking maybe plastic bags still have a place in society!
Freshco, are you listening? When are you guys going to start using plastic or paper and not forcefeeding me the cloth junk?
So millions of illegal aliens dumped into North America & Europe are now without plastic bags and straws. What about housing, lots of trees to cut in Canada for new free housing.
Everything in the meat counter is wrapped in plastic and styrofoam. Same thing in bakery.
Produce? More plastic.
How about those bubble packs electronics come in.
I then get to checkout and I can’t have a plastic bag?
Bullshit.
Ad..
Fking Bingo…what ever will the Big Box Stores do were they TRULY going to outlaw Plastic..??
Everything at Costco and all the others is generously overpackaged with thick shiny clamshell packaging…..!!
I never understood the rationale of this Leftist inspired climate BULLSHIT….GARANTEED they will leave said big stores alone.
Yeah, because a plastic straw used in Moose Jaw could get stuck up a sea turtle’s nose.
These people are retarded.
There aren’t a lot of sea turtles in the Saskatchewan landfills.
Or are there?
(cue the ominous music)
Eels must be banned immediately!!!

The rare and nearly extinct Moose Jaw Landfill Sea Turtles are so rare that nobody has ever seen one.
We must protect their nostrils from plastic straws at all costs.
Follow the money. Glad is behind the push. Too many of us found grocery bags are great for putting garbage into. Can’t have that.
I can think of good uses for single purpose plastic bags (with ties)!
There is no such thing as a zero emissions vehicle.
The joke’s on Shiny Pony…or, possibly on every Canadian
Environmentalists will have to get rid of their electric car as it is made of a lot of plastic and all plastics are made from PETROL.
I wish they would stop using the expression ” zero emissions” as that is scientifically IMPOSSIBLE.
delayed emissions yes, remote emissions, yes, but zero emissions is scientifically impossible.
