Critics are complaining that restoration plans will turn the cathedral into a Disneyland. They should stop worrying, it will probably end up as a mosque anyway.
Meanwhile, back here on Turtle Island, Rex Murphy trashes Dear Leader.

I thought it was a Son of the Desert Pedophile who torched it anyway. Piss Be Upon Him.
Bees pee upon him.
In all truth honesty tho, I do not believe that we have the technology to replace any of these old Cathedrals from that era.
Read an article years back were someone had asked a famous Engineer or Architect about building any of these old Gothic structures. And they said it could not be done.
They were not built by Engineers, just like the Pyramids etc. They were build by Master Craftsmen, Tradesmen. Engineering came out of these crafts.
Some of which still exist to this day. Stone Masonry,
Blacksmithing, Millwrighting, Carpentry and Prostitution..
Fact is … that none of the sizable old growth oak trees are available to rebuild the Cathedral authentically. So why replace the authentic Christianity back to the Cathedral? It’s all a vague facsimile of the original
Good point Kenji, the roof took 21 hectares of 3-400 year old oak trees. They could go with laminated beams or perhaps Fir if they really decided to stay with wooden frames.

Well, as long as they don’t turn it into a sanctuary for pedophiles…

3-400 years old when they were used !
In spite of a host of “modernization” plans [one included a swimming pool] the rebuild looks to be along traditional lines
