Justin’s CBC is excited that Indians in what was once Ontario, are taking back the province one piece at a time.

Basically the anti everything crowd has discovered a new way to slow, or stop, progress. Just use the native card!
It’s not that new.
Many of us remember the phony-baloney Berger Inquiry into the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline during the mid-1970s, the first phase of PET’s NEP, though it wasn’t called that at the time. The project was killed by pro-Indian Berger (surprise! surprise!) and “delayed” for 20 years so that an “adequate” native workforce could be in place. (Yeah, right.)
PET was too much of a chickensh*t to decare it a war against Alberta, so he used the Indians instead.
It’s the Trudeau way.
CBC’s Toronto HQ is probably on land belonging to a First Nation. They could return it to its original owners. Both the First Nation and the rest of the country would benefit greatly: win-win.
Someone should ask each and every resident in the area if they can prove their home was built with proper consultation. Start with the mayor and work down the org chart at city hall.
Hell, every permit for a deck, garage, basement Reno now needs a consultation.
It’s like the Liberals are installing Indians to act as crime families would in municipalities across Canada. Nothing gets done without the say so of the Chief/Don and only after a respectful tribute has been paid to the tribe/famiglia.
1) the natives demanding respect for their land stole it from someone else, while killing most of their predecessors and enslaving the rest
2) the only reason they have land today is because the West introduced the concepts of private property and rule of law
So the irony here is that they clamor endlessly for more restitution when the only non-evil partner in this dispute is the Canadians who didn’t do to them what they did to everyone else.
Actually the British bought the land from the Mississauga band (I think) and gave it to the Iroquois to compensate them for the loss of their land and as a thank you for their help in the war. After that things got complicated.
No lands were stolen giving the Iroquois a new territory.
* Letter from John Ferguson to William Claus, Deputy Superintendent General, Indian Affairs, 5 March 1819, concerning threats made by Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte to passers-by.
“Will not a difficulty arise, as to who these people are? In the Mohawk village here, a large proportion are the immediate descendants of Germans; there is also a family of immediate descendants of Africans: Are they to be considered as Indians? There are also some descendants of Americans, whose ancestors were Europeans.”
“In fact, there are but few real Indians amongst them.”
and that was 200 years ago.

Hey, Victoria has set up a non profit org and office asking residents to register their property to see if it is on traditional native land. If it is the office will notify the homeowner which nation owns (sic) the land and the homeowner (?) will be asked to pay an annual tithe (rent) to the first nation in question. Unbelievably I know some residents who are going to comply. In doing so they will establish a precedent in which the First Nation can claim land ownership by title. The Freehold will belong to the First Nation whereas the so called homeowner will only have a leasehold on the property that they thought they owned in the first place. Dangerous precedents are being set here.
White man, white suckaaaas.
Victoria BC? That Victoria?
I have friends at the base of Mt. Doug. Could, and Should, get real INTERESTING!!
Does that mean I’ll have to pay an Indian tax if and when I sell my house in B. C.?
I’m so old that I remember when extortion was considered a crime.
the money quote: “It was granted to Six Nations of the Grand River in 1784 for allying with the British in the American Revolution. ”
read that again if you need to…
it’s crown land that the crown granted to indigenous settlers, so presumably some other tribe could also claim it (ie the mississauga, who held it previously).
Given that the mississauga of the credit have managed to get paid at least 3 times for the same chunk of land, I could see them doing it again
Anyone up for a game of cowboys and indians?
I’m pretty sure OJ is a Jew. What say you, man?
If he is, I envy him. He can move to a country where he isn’t seen as a problem to be solved.
Can you boast as much? I can’t.
TAW: Yeah, land of the triple vaxxed. Lucky them.
Pretty sure you are an asshole. What say you asshole?
Greg:
Yeah, I’m quite a jerk, unlike you, right? Let me know when your mom lets you grow a pair. Then we can talk.
So…slagging people at a web forum, under a fake name, is proof of YOUR pair?
If those are your standards, I don’t think anyone here has too much to be afraid of.
When Chinada Province is finally opened for Chinese settlement in earnest, you won’t hear another word about the “rights” of “First Nations.”
If they’re lucky, a few will be kept around to occasionally do idiotic parodies of their folk dances for propaganda films about how the PLA liberated Chinada’s aborigines.
Didn’t the First Nations originally come from what is now China?
The Chinese want THEIR land back.
What kind of “First Nations” clown show are they running in Edmonton? These are the actual names of the city wards there, see how many you can pronounce.
Some of them are capitalized, some not. Why? And “pihêsiwin ᐱᐦᐁᓯᐏᐣ” uses what I assume are Inuktitut syllabics (invented by a white man based on a Hindu script). How do you pronounce that?
To prove that this ridiculousness is real I’m including not one but two sources.
Worse was that this was done by the former sh*tty council under the leadership of Dumbass Donnie Iveson–without consulting the residents, I mean, squatters, of course.
That, of course, just suited my new poofy soyboy of an alderman, the same lefty endorsed by Sarah Hoffmann. Oooooooohhhh, I can just feeeeeeeel the social justice raining down upon the masses because of it.
Yeah, maybe it’s time we changed the name from Edmonton to Indiantown, eh?
I live less than 10Km from the river. Hope my house and the other 600,000 neighbors won’t lose our homes. The nation making the complaint is from New York – they were given the land in a treaty yes, but only by displacing the actual indigenous people.
Notice there’s no land claims in Newfoundland?
“”While we think we’ve been disrespected in this process, it’s pretty clear the Six Nations of the Grand River have been disrespected for more than 150 years,”
You know, we could have swept thru the entire damn continent and killed every last indian you know.
“taking back the province one piece at a time.”……….pfft they are pikers, BC injuns have already identified 110% (or thereabouts estimates vary) of the land mass being owned by them and modern politicians go right along with the stupidity. Every announcement by Bonnie Henry the Health terrorist is preceded by a statement of recognition that they are on injun land. if you do not understand that you will soon be paying property taxes to injuns you are fooling yourself.
Enough, already.
I am NOT a “settler.”
I was born here. It is my home and native land, despite the current bullshit.
My one ethnic side in this country goes back to 1745 for fuck’s sake. The other ethnic side arrived and helped build this place at the turn of the 20th century.
In short, my line precedes most Métis. And we all, first, second, and subsequent generations, have helped to build what the current fools want to tear down.
Now piss off.
And I say so from my private fucking property.
Get off my lawn.
Etc.
THIS!
One more chapter in the dissolution of Canada, all thanks to the institutional left and particularly their poseurs at the SCOC. The bright spot is that as our Spawn lead federal leviathan is moving in this direction, all thinking that utopia is just ahead, they are de facto confirming the deeding and granting of Crown land as illegitimate and therefore their own illegitimacy as a state. On this path we will eventually no longer have any government other than Indian which means anything goes. I want former CBC reporters as my personal slaves. No problem, we are all Indians now. I’m my own “First Nation”.
Consultation must be injun for grease.
Why do we pay property tax of the government doesnt think we own it? If I lease from an aboriginal then I should not have to pay tax. There is a ton of legal presidence for that.
I live in Cambridge and am familiar with this development. There is widespread opposition to the development in town but Cambridge city council has pretty much ignored that and has dealt with this development in a very suspicious manner. There were lots of in camera meetings about the project and things were announced and, I believe, approved without public input. Then the city went to the province to get the special DMZ ruling to fast track the project. My comments are a bit of an over simplification, but the whole deal does indeed stink. I don’t know if it’s been announced, but it’s widely believe that the warehouse is for Amazon — so it’s not like this development will be creating “good” jobs.
The village of Blair, near where the warehouse is being built, is essentially rural. It’s also filled with money and expensive homes and there is certainly a degree of NIMBYism here. In short, it’s really mostly wealthy white home owners who want this project killed. But the way the city council has deal with this is definitely shady.
I’m not happy with opponents of the project playing the Six Nations card — that land has not been held by indigenous people for a very long time — but I understand the opponents’ frustration. Opponents are dealing with what appears to be a bone-crushingly corrupt city council and are desperate to stop the project. This is more likely wealthy homeowners playing whatever card they can rather than the natives themselves acting on their own.
Basically the anti everything crowd has discovered a new way to slow, or stop, progress. Just use the native card!

Just like the Injuns got told in 1776, your deal is with the Crown not us. We are about Freedom.

It’s interesting how the word “consult” has changed to “negotiate and bring bags of pay off money”.
Negotiate with my dick, Siberian hustlers!
It’s embarrassing what such stupidity has done to my usual wit – but why cast pearls before grunting Neolithic boneheads?
