  1. Wow. Nature at its most spectacular. The stout hearted individuals shovelling ash off the roof of their house was an eye opener as well, I’m sure most would throw their hands in the air and say “what’s the use?” Not those guys.
    On a lark I looked up whether Canada has active volcanos. Turns out we do, several of them. Mount Garibaldi in B.C. being one out of only a handful.
    Good. That’s how I like my volcanos. Far away.

      Oh, darn. One can never find an active volcano or an earthquake when one needs one, right?

      1. Just waiting on St. Helens again.
        Although Yellowstone is a distant 2nd but much more pleasurable to think about.

        Where’s that asteroid when you need it.

        1. I was at UBC when Mount St. Helens erupted. A few days later, I stopped by the geophysics building and the seismogram for that time period was on display. Yup, it was a biggie!

      2. Interesting line of thought. A wall of lava maybe two feet high or so tumbling down Denman St. just to remind them of who’s really in charge.

      Isn’t that what wall-of-sound bar bands play in watering holes? Of course, consume enough of the liquid that’s served there, and one could swear that those bands are actually playing rock.

  4. Oh the irony. The greenies think humans are causing global warming LOL! This has been happening on the planet since long before humans were around. Yet somehow, the planet has managed to survive all those millions of years, and then the pipsqueak humans arrived and started polluting gaia Ha hahaha hahaha!
    Try carbon taxing that Justin eh!

      1. I’m actually not worried about that. It’s one of those idiotic computer projections. They are always wrong. The amount of rock displaced would be far less than what was displaced in Indonesia that set off the Boxing Day Tsunami. It would make a big mess along the shores but there is not going to be any 80 metre waves taking out Washington DC, unfortunately..

      2. That’s silly. Must be some of that “science” stuff..

        Study the abundant footage of The Tsunamis in Thailand and Japan, for starters.Out at sea, in deep water, Tsunaamis are virtually undetectable because they are basically a “pressure front”, traveling at very high speed.

        It is only as they approach shore that their character changes. The shallow depth causes the water to “stack up” and the shock-front to slow down. Water also drains from the shoreline in this process. Then the “stacked-up” water collapses and heads inland.

        Such a shock-front crossing the Atlantic near its widest point and maintaining all of the original energy is pretty unlikely. See also: The “Inverse square” rule for radiated energy.
