Woke Catholics

The woke blob swallows the University of San Diego.

Many conservative parents looking for moderately traditional college options for their children seek schools that are under the protective cover of a church. The University of San Diego (USD), a Catholic school with a law school not unfriendly to conservatives, may once have been such a safe haven, but no longer. Under President James Harris, the school has undergone a kind of hostile takeover by the forces of wokeness.

    1. And they’re always looking for problems, even creating some of their own, in order to justify their existences.

  1. Turning ‘micro-aggressions’ into ‘mega-aggressions’ to bully others into submission. I thought bullying was bad. Say No to cultural appropriation.

  2. The Grievance Industry is fucking out of control. USD used to be a fantastic LEARNING Institution. It was the repository of the smartest HS kids, due to its rigorous academic admissions policies. Let me guess … due to their DEI policies … they’re admitting ever greater numbers of unqualified BIPOC students. In order to accommodate these “special admits” … they’ve created nonsensical, jokes of classes titled The Problem of Colorblind Racism … which teaches your lack of racist thoughts … is racism. Yes, your “silence in violence”. There. I’ve summed up the entire course. Give me an ‘A’. Oops … I’m white … so “equity” demands that I receive a ‘C’.

We are allowing intellectually deficient termites to eat away at the foundations of our beautiful Republic. Protect your children. Don’t let them attend these Maoist re-education camps.

    1. Kenji.

I went to UCSD and a good friend went to San Diego State.

I’m shocked on how these once great colleges have turned from places to get an excellence education. To just junk.
      Libs wreck everything they touch.

      1. Dustoff … then you were a SMART kid. It was tough to get into UCSD. But I read your comments. Yeah, you’re smart 🙂

      2. The world is spiraling downward intellectually. The whu who flu has proven that as has the blatant push towards communism and the theft of an election. people have to be stupid it is the only answer.

  3. Adam and Eve were the first 2 human beings to get WOKE!

Look where that has led all the earth and creation. A constant state of degradation, strife, murder, greed, and inequality.

Nothing new to see here, move along.

  4. Wikileaks laid out what progressives had in mind. One of their objectives was to infiltrate the Catholic church and begin dismantling it piece by piece or to be more “progressive”. Specifically with respect to abortion which hasn’t changed one iota for 2000 years and a thorn in the side of communists since God only knows.
I must admit this current Pope hasn’t exactly been a big help of late for beleaguered Catholics who feel they’ve been taking it on the chin of late and most Catholics are not at all happy with him. The Pachamama business from last year was a “what in the hell are you doing??!!??” moment for most folks.
The bright light, or at least a flicker anyways, is that there are those within the faith who are fed up and aren’t putting up with it anymore. Call it a groundswell of sorts but the overall consensus is a return to tradition and kicking out corrupt Bishops and sex starved priests.
    My two cents.

  5. From the article:

“Asians tend to do better on standardized tests,” …

They also tend to do Catholicism better these days which is why one will see the revival of the Church come from Asia and Africa, especially China.

If anyone knew the history of the Church, they would know how diverse its body of saints and converts are. Sts. Martin de Porres, Monica and Augustine, Charles Lwanga and companions (not down with Big Gay and paid the price for it), various Asian and aboriginal martyrs, the first Christians from Israel (ie – Saint Paul and, of course, Jesus) and so on.

There are enough saints to fill modern sensibilities (St. Valentine who married soldiers against the emperor’s wishes, St. Thomas More who blew the whistle on a royal @$$-grabber, Saint Kateri Tekawitha who truly embodies real truth and reconciliation).

But the Church has always stood in the way of the left so it has to go.

    1. So very true. Well said. Listened to a lecture just last night on St.Ignatius of Antioch and St.Polycarp and it seriously had me wondering if men of that caliber are still around anymore.
An earlier time I know, but still.

  6. Another shrug. I’ll put this in the same category as:

    (a) the NFL still gets full stadiums despite the kneeling fairies, and
    (b) despite cowards like ford, kenney, scheer and no’tool, people still vote Conservative, and
    (c) although a communist hypocrite heads up the pedophile sanctuary in the Vatican, people still profess to be Roman Catholic.

      1. Ah yes, The Revealed Truth. There is a story that makes the rounds in military colleges that does just that.

When the Spartans were at the height of their military fame they sent a delegation to the Oracle at Delphi and, with no small amount of conceit demanded: Can anything harm Sparta? The answer (which probably didn’t have much effect on their considerable egos) was short and to the point: “Yes, luxury.”

The danger with luxury is that it is invariably attended by its handmaidens: self-interest, complacency, cowardice, and an appalling lack of curiosity about the important things… soft living begets soft heads. It is as much a state of mind as a state of being.

Swollen heads and fat arses from sea to shining sea. Ovinity Trumps divinity.

  7. can some one explain to me why every damned televangelist become rich, while never doing a stitch of work? Religions = control freaks, and or cults. Every damned one of them!

    1. They ask for your life savings. Because, you don’t want your neighbour to be more holy than you. Besides, if you don’t fork it over, the Lord will strike said televangelist dead.
It’s on TV and they would not let a swindler on TV now would they?

    2. Ron L Hubbard would know but he’s dead now.
Maybe his followers like Tom Cruise would know better.

  8. The woke cult currently believe that their god is bigger than the Christian God. Based on all that I have witnessed these past few years, they have constantly been taking their ‘Holy War’ to the next levels.

I believe the left’s constant attacks aimed directly at Christians and Jews(reprehensible when you consider a good portion of these people claim to be Christians and Jews themselves) are not so much about faith, as they are because these are the two religions that are basically responsible for democracies. Islam, Communism… those ideologies are pretty cool with tyranny and oppression, so they have a tendency to be protected by the bullshitting left, as we witness daily.

Virtually all of our ‘self-appointed overlords”’ tactics are designed to systematically shred western communities of family cohesion, social unity, safety, independence, justice and freedom. And they seem to have no problem recruiting cult members to do their bidding. This business with USD is simply part of the greater war effort . That’s how it looks to these eyes, anyways.

  9. It isn’t called the institutional left for no reason. All institutions, particularly one of the oldest founding and lasting ancestral institutions of western civilizations has been marched through although perhaps not as rapidly as most of its protestant breakaways. Large prestigious private schools and universities have also succumbed to cultural Marxism. The modern Iron curtain of tyranny is one where decentralized, cellular, black market, and eventually and necessarily off-line refugia will be the only remnants of liberty and reason if present trends persist.

    1. burton, that was perfect+++ Although, as a lifelong atheist and lifelong conservative, I do respect those who have faith, but also expect the same in return. Does that make me a paradox?

      1. ” I do respect those who have faith, but also expect the same in return. Does that make me a paradox?”

Nawww, just honest. Progressivism requires two components: sheep ticks and sheep. There is far too many of both.

      2. Unfortunately in today’s world you are a paradox of sorts, but I applaud you for being an anomaly. A rare cat.
I’m a boomer, I well remember those days of the sixties and seventies where some of rock music’s biggest hits were Spirit in the Sky by Alex Greenbaum, Anne Murray’s I Don’t Know How to Love Him and who can forget the Doobie Bros. Jesus is Just Alright With Me not to mention The Byrd’s Turn, Turn, Turn which is lifted straight from the Bible or how about Godspell
These songs wouldn’t even be thought of today much less played. So what’s happened? How did we get from “Hey man, do your own thing, we’re all cool with that” to the in your face intolerance of “You’re a fng idiot for believing in an imaginary sky faerie”?
Something’s changed. I’m quite sure it wasn’t me.

        1. GerryK is no anomaly, I am also a long-time atheist and conservative. Open your eyes please, we are everywhere, we are not some bizarre freak of nature as you seem to have convinced yourself. And to the same note, there are shit-tons of ShitLib Christians, so the left is not some army of atheists, either!!!!!!!

And yes, I had a time way back when I would flame Christians on blogs, but as GerryK alluded to, it was usually with those Christians who had contemptuous and hateful views of atheists. Try being repeatedly taunted that it is impossible for you to be a quality or ‘moral’ person simply because you aren’t a Christian, and then maybe you will better understand why even some Conservative atheists spit on Conservative Christians in return. I will NOT roll over for any self-righteous, morally preening asshole, be they a woketard, SJW, atheist or a Christian.

I defend Christians at virtually every turn these days, yet I know that some bigoted Christians will always be contemptuous of someone with my personal beliefs. There are more than a couple here who sometimes fire off their mouths about us evil atheists, either oblivious or uncaring that they are also attacking some fine Conservatives.

Not trying to be combative, burton, just hoping to help you see a POV you admit yourself that you were somewhat unaware of. Have a great day and even better evening!

          1. People are people. Some are good, some are bad, and this is true within every group. There are good atheists and bad atheists. Good Christians and bad Christians.

But one comfort, if a person is trying to be a good Christian, they will have to avoid lying, coveting, envy, greed, murder, lust. They will have to be humble and strive to serve others above themselves.

This is what we used to call “Christian virtue.” Whether you believe or not, and even if the awful hypocrites give Christians a bad name, no one can deny that the West was able to build the most advanced civilization known to man because of Christian virtue.

The left says it is all greed. That’s BS.

It took real sacrifice to build our world. People giving more than they could ever get back, all because they wanted to make the world a better place for the next generation.

Of course mistakes were made. The more advanced a civilization, the more horrific the sins can become. But the west has never committed a sin that other civilizations haven’t also committed or wouldn’t commit if they had the opportunity.

Christianity also promotes individualism. Every soul has dignity and is equal in the eyes of God, and salvation depends on your own personal relationship with God. The sacraments are all just expressions of that relationship.

Atheists should be defending Christians. It is our basic decency that has made America a safe and decent place to live, and we are losing it.

  10. I’m the type of atheist who thinks that given most of the historical, moral, and societal value of Christianity and some others, it’s not a bad idea for people to try to live one’s life as if God did exist whether or not you believed in one. Religion should be part of school curricula along with a historical grounding in western civilization including the classics. Given the degeneracy of today, that couldn’t happen without it becoming inverted and depraved due mostly to the nullity of multiculturalism (all cultures are equal).

I also think that to those who point to atheism as a cause of the loss of liberty and reason (I would say “conservative” if it had any real meaning), I would point out that Christianity has been significantly replaced and augmented with faith-based surrogates such as Environmentalism (a form of pantheism) and or Marxism (despite being inherently atheistic – a belief in the class struggle and supremacy of the collective, a logical spinoff of Christian-inspired altruism).
