I think O’toole is worthless and I’d happily vote PPC but that’ll split the vote and give the stupidest, most narcissistic and damaging man in the history of the country a MAJORITY government. That will complete the destruction of this country, probably.
It’s easy to say “To hell with Canada”. But I have 3 kids who are starting their way into the world and that’s a sh1tty way to give up on them. I still need to fight for what I think is right, no matter how hard I need to hold my nose at the polls. I can’t roll over on them.
And yeah, I only have 1 vote, so get over myself. But principles matter. I am disgusted with Otoole’s lack of substance. But a trudolt majority will be an unprecedented disaster: mandatory vaccinations and passports, even higher confiscatory taxes, loss of free speech, importing even more bottom of barrel 3rd world liberal supporters and rampant inflation. He’s the nail in the country’s coffin.
Yes: to let the conservatives burn at the polls might spark a right-wing turnaround. But likely not – there are too many freeloading socialist parasites in this country who want to steal from others and I doubt Harper could get re-elected. Maybe long-term it IS a losing battle; I’m just depressed at having to hold my nose for a candidate who’s “not nearly as bad” as the local scumbag liberal, may they all go to hell.

How will that moral preening serve you after an election when the right-wing vote – dwindling as it is – gets split and PM ass-head returns with a 4 year majority? Still going to huff and blow as smugly when there may have been a chance to derail the idiot into another minority term?
This isn’t the same situation as the early 2000s when we had the Martin liberals to deal with. Harper got his minority and followed up with a majority. And Harper was a far better candidate than otoole, assuredly. But the Martin liberals were merely craven and corrupt; this liberal a-hole’s party is stupifyingly incompetent and outright stupid, as well as corrupt. Ready for a buck-a-liter global warming tax? Wealth taxes? How about that mortgage tax that was floated last year? Maybe CRT instituted as federal law?
That – and likely worse – is on the table with a trudolt majority.
Or are you a guy who, if he doesn’t like the layout of his house, doesn’t bother to call 911 if it catches fire?
Our system sucks. A real country has political checks and balances to prevent a government tyranny majority government. Ours doesn’t. Nor does it have fixed election dates to prevent this kind of craven political maneuvering.
I can’t change that. What I can do, as distasteful as it is, is vote for the best chance of preventing the worst leader and government in the country’s history from gaining unfettered control of this country where there are family members and others I care about that will reap the disaster from this next election for possibly the next several decades. I can do that and still hate the choice.
William F. Buckley said, “Vote for the most conservative candidate who can win”. For Canada this morphs into “vote for the most conservative candidate who can prevent certain disaster”. And I wish that was PPC, but it’s not.
Preening is easy. Pragmatism is hard.

mbh23re, I understand and share your pain and dilemma. I too, worry for the future. I have a new granddaughter that arrived mid July. Indeed, what are we leaving for their future? There are not enough of us conservatives (real ones) to make a difference anymore. We had a similar issue in the last election with Scheer, yet O’Toole is worse, and even more liberal. The last call I got from the national conservatives looking for money and support, my reply was a terse one, saying, “When you guys start acting like real conservatives, I’ll consider acting like a real supporter,” and I then put the phone down. They have not called again, but I still get mail requests that are no longer opened, and are thrown in the round file. My impression is that we are heading for something much bigger, and much worse with this WEF great reset, that the turd and biden are fans of. By comparison, this election is small change.
I made my choice after the last election, and will no longer bother to vote or support any political party, except perhaps Maverick. My focus is now on simply surviving and taking care of those I care about. I’m starting to be a canner, a gardener, and already have firearms and some gold and silver. Next up will be hardening the house against theft and invasion, a generator/generac and continuing to hoard dry foods and basically preparing for the worst. I also think our money, Can and US will become even less valuable or almost worthless in the near future, as well, a stock market and housing bubble crash is expected. All, as far as I can determine, deliberate. We little people, us peasants, can only deal with the realities we are dealt, we have zero say, and cannot make a change in the bigger picture! It would take a civil war in both the US and here to see any real change, and I don’t see a civil war in our near future. This then, is how I plan to continue, as best I can, within the limits I have. All I can suggest, is for you to do the same. PPC will split the vote, Con will be slower speed liberal, and the rest cannot be considered except Maverick. If you are back east, you won’t even have that choice. If you feel you MUST vote, then perhaps PPC as a protest, or Con if you must, and deal with the O’Toole fool afterwards. By reading and posting on SDA, I keep my sanity, and can share with like minded conservatives.
