    1. Just in time delivery has turned our highways into rolling warehouses and has created the traffic jams of daily life. Manufacturers have saved money by reducing inventory and warehouse space and have off loaded those costs onto the taxpayers who have to pay for the upkeep. Similarly, taxpayers will pay higher food costs because petroleum needed to harvest will be more expensive due to higher shipping costs and food supply will be reduced because availability of rail shipping slots will be displaced by petroleum trains.
This is what will happen when stupid politicians listen to ignorant unicorn fart studies graduates.

    2. +++Paul. I have said that many times watching the moving pipeline. Lines as long as almost two miles.

      1. The weight of those trains is enormous, and track maintenance isn’t what it should be. Some lengths of track away from the cities is often left for years before one of the hi-tech maintenance crews get around to repairing it.

I hunt in an area of Northern B.C. where the CN tracks run,and have walked down the tracks and seen many loose spikes and rotten ties. One section right by the Fraser River was so bad I wouldn’t walk there anymore fearing a derailment. Finally after witnessing this for about three years, the maintenance crew came into the town and spent about a month there repairing and replacing sections of track.

But it seems inevitable that one of these days there is going to be a derailment on the section that runs for miles by the Fraser, and watch the environmentalists shit themselves when that occurs.

  1. Quick, is spot on.
Meanwhile in the far south, Coronach area we saw kilometres of new hopper cars, no corp labels, assume for potash?

  2. The first thing Trudeau and the idiot Liberals did when elected in 2015 was to cancel the Northern Gateway Pipeline, an approved about to start construction project that had approval and planned participation of 99% of the native population along the route.

They then changed the NEB directors and rules resulting in TC walking away from the Energy East project.

    Then there’s the TMX boondoggle.

    The utter ignorance is unbelievable.

    1. They actually hate freedom and want to kill us. Why, maybe they are all psychos.

  3. Speaking of The First Nations … doncha think it’s high time that a noble, peaceful, enlightened, War Party of beautiful First Nations Peoples gets that Iron Horse OFF the Canadian Prairie!? They should pull up the tracks. If for no other reason … just to let the Bison roam FREE once again.

    1. They need those trains to carry all those “reparation” payments to them.

    2. They get along great with the Chicoms once Trudeau hands them the country.

      “Tweeaty, what Tweeaty”.

  4. Good morning America, how are ya?
Said dontcha know me, I’m your native son.
I’m the train they call the City of New Orleans

Betcha Warren Buffett plays Arlo’s song every so often when he’s counting his money.

    1. Berkshire Hathaway (A shares) stock price this morning … $431,767.00 per share. Per sharrrrreee!!!! Up $1,607 so far today.

Yeah. The railroads have been good to Warren.

But shouldn’t he transfer some of his unfair share to the beautiful, noble, wonderful, First Nations Peoples who first roamed wonderfully FREE on the Prairie?

        1. I remember in the early 80’s it was a little over $ 1000 per.
Wish I had bought some then but I liked cars better.

  5. The oil continues to move but not in the most green friendly way and the added costs of railing the oil simply reduces the net return at this end. Owners of the rolling stock like Warren Buffet must laugh at the stupidity.

    1. There is no green friendly way, only the most profitable way and that means those in control make the profit.

  6. If you play golf at Tobiano, just west of Kamloops, BC, you can look out over both sides of Kamloops Lake, a local gem. There are double or triple tracks on each side, all of them occupied by full (or empty) oil cars stretching as far as you can see into the distance. Purty little lake. Shame if something like a derailment happened happened to it. Oh, well – pipelines are so Not Green!

  7. Love Quick Dick. He should run for PM or at least Premier of Sask …..but no doubt doesnt want to become part of the swamp people,

    1. Anyone who farms for a living … and survives the constantly changing environment, commodity markets, and political crap … has my respect. Every one of the Farmers, cattlemen, and Dairymen I’ve met have more wisdom and knowledge in their pinky toe than every jackhole in Ottawa.

  8. And speaking if Indians I had to go to the hospital this morning. At check there is a whole litany of questions. Are you an indian ? Do you identify as indian?have you ever wanted to be an indian?
    I. Wonder if you get better service in you an Indian

    1. An Indian told me one day while waiting in an empty hospital waiting room “It’s welfare day, always go to the hospital on welfare day, it will be empty.”

  9. The world demand for Oil and Gas will continue to increase as 4 billion souls in the developing world strive to improve their standard of living and the west continues to worship the barely energy positive wind and solar bromides which can never replace fossils. Nuclear power is the only feasible technology with the potential to replace fossils and the longer it takes to transition, the more demand for fossils. The only alternative to fossils at present is energy poverty. The Canadian establishment is now at war with fossils and as a result, Alberta and Saskatchewan. If given their way (looting and killing the energy business), all of Canada will become an impoverished energy importer of fossil fuels much like Quebec and the Maritimes. Canada and more importantly, its establishment, should be broken up ASAP.

    1. One thing about it John, it ain’t going to run out unless a government with military force shuts it down.

  10. I really love Quick Dick. He’s your export that ranks at number 1, 8, 14, and 26.

  11. In the west CP has 2 major lines running into the US. One goes south of Winnipeg and the other Moose Jaw. They end up in Minneapolis. These are high grade and handle the rolling pipelines.

CN has one that leaves Winnipeg and hits the west end of the great lakes in Duluth MN.

These lines out of Manitoba pre date Confederation. Trade was north/south in those days
