Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Yup. They utterly despise us. This is the “urban” mindset. Most Trawntonians would file this under brilliant/cutting/edgy.
Considering what day tomorrow is, I’ll use a football metaphor.
Millions of Canadians put their trust in Carney to hold the ball for them.
(I always wanted Charlie Brown to kick Lucy instead of the ball.)
Westerners should know better, the rest of the Hosers, not so much.
L – Lucy’s role in Charlie Brown was a Luciferian one. Hmm, I may be starting to understand Jonathan Pageau?
One good swift kick to the head would have put an end to that nonsense (one way or the other).
If a cartoonist is an equal opportunity offender I’ll give them a pass but Moudakis is a straight up Liberal homer not unlike the gov’t approved comedy one would see on This Hour has 22 Minutes.
And always with what I like to call “Boomer Humour” – Highschool newspaper, edgy as a balloon one liners.
Donato is another one.
His cartooning sucks as much as his ‘humour.’
the Toronto Star received $1.5 million from the Online news act fund, and another 25% is covered in the Canadian Journalism labour tax credit, so his output is good enough for government humor.
Edit: my mistake it’s a 35% refundable tax credit until december 31, 2026
Of course, the rest of Canada resents Alberta and Saskatchewan. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember. The bigotry and abuse towards Alberta and Saskatchewan will not change.
Any understanding or agreements between the federal government and the two prairie provinces aren’t worth the paper they are written on. Doesn’t Alberta remember the false promise of a social license to grow their oil and gas economy if Alberta collected a carbon tax? Doesn’t Saskatchewan remember the broken promise to keep coal generation if they built carbon capture coal units? How about building goodwill by making sure Quebec got propane supplies when indegenous groups shut down the railway? Or even hoping for fair treatment from the rest of Canada for paying into the equalization program and getting nothing in return? Nope, the rest of Canada just takes everything they can from Alberta and Saskatchewan but gives nothing back but resentment, economic abuse and ridicule.
Alberta and Saskatchewan should take the incredibly obvious hint that things will never get better, they will always hate us and then run, not walk, away from this toxic relationship with the rest of Canada.
Just like any in other abusive relationship. Unfortunately the abused one in the relationship almost always leaves on a gurney. Very few leave on their own feet.
“Of course, the rest of Canada resents Alberta and Saskatchewan”
Speak for yourself.
L – Danielle Smith has to decide, either she’s going to be The Iron Lady that Alberta needs to survive and to break trail to peace and prosperity, as a light unto Saskatchewan and possibly inspire eastern Canada to do the same. Or not.
An Alberta Momma grizzly bear could face down the Ottawa Conman. It will take courage, as he’s smart, dangerous and allied with both the C.C.P. and the M.B. and the W.E.F.
There is a reason the most common phrase in the Bible is “Be not afraid ! Western Civilization was built on by heroic figures voluntarily facing down that which we most fear.
In Hoc Signo Vences
Sadly, Ms. Smith appears to not have learned her lesson when Prentice f*cked her over.
Only someone from Toronto would be so bold to slander the people paying his wage.
Right – but it’s action, not signs, that enable us to know them and achieve victory.
Yes. They hate me with the fire of a thousand suns.
But I don’t care, because they are LOSING and it is driving them insane. They do not get a penny from me, except what is extorted from my taxes. I ignore them. Their hatred rolls off me like water from a duck’s back.
And there is one more thing I take comfort from: What goes around, comes around. Sooner or later, it always does. It’s the golden rule, my friends.
I imagine that Ms. Smith wants Canada to succeed as a country and is hoping that compromise will get the job done. It won’t – I do not believe that, absent a gun to the head, Carney will actually support anything positive for Alberta or Saskatchewan. This agreement is, I think, just wink and nudge stuff given that liberals control the courts who will, inevitably, side with the indians to stop any pipeline across B.C.
The right threat is available: a government sponsored referendum asking people to authorize the Alberta government to develop an agreement on economic union with the United States to be voted on in the event that Carney et al fail to honor their commitments. That would, I think, pass with 80% support because it appeals to both those who want Canada to survive and those who want independence – and forces Carney et al to choose between blowing up the country or being at least sort-of fair to the prairie provinces.
The memorandum of understanding is based on what’s “understood”
Alberta needs a pipeline to tidewater if Canada expects to raise its GDP to fund all the expected goodies that Ottawa wants to give out.
Ottawa “understands” what Alberta needs but the political needs of the liberal party takes precedent.
Carney will say he did all he can do. Understand that when he says that he means only doing enough to say he tried but….
Here’s a thought.
If Alberta needs a pipeline what’s stopping Alberta choosing a route with the least resistance and bypassing Ottawa, other provinces, the plethora of groups with far too much power and time on their hands to obstruct, and going south through the US?
What’s stopping it? The Demoncr@p Party and its green commie allies.
The federal government controls the border. My question is what’s stopping Alberta from building a pipeline to Ontario? The not withstanding clause should shortcut any federal interprovincial rules and Ontario owns a number of ports.
That Canadians find the cartoon funny is instructive.
Yes, frustrating Alberta’s primary industry is a guffaw for Canadians.
I hate them right back and don’t want them to have any more of Alberta’s dirty filthy petrodollars.
Time for Alberta to secede.
Has Alberta set a date to vote on an independence referendum?
May 31, 2027 “Do you agree that Alberta shall become a Sovereign country and cease to be a province of Canada?”
Secede and then declare war on BC for pipeline access to the ocean. ~:D Can you imagine the #Lieberal exploding heads? What a riot!
Of course this is the same thing premier that took a hissy fit when Saskatchewan decided his province was unreliable for shipping potash and sent it through the US.
The Albertan tolerance for abuse is becoming legendary.
