State orders $1 million tax refund for Trump
The Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board has decided former President Donald Trump is due a $1 million refund on his skyscraper’s 2011 tax bill, ruling last month that the Cook County Board of Review overestimated the value of the building’s hotel rooms and retail space.
But the Cook County State’s Attorney has filed suit with the Illinois Appellate Court, seeking to block the tax refund, which has yet to be issued.
The state agency’s board voted 5-0 on June 2 to reduce the assessments on the building’s commercial property, which would trigger a refund of $1.03 million for Trump, slightly less than Burke had requested.

What a ridiculous case. 5 to 0 the the State agency board voted to refund the money. Then, the States’ Attorney General’s office jumps in to initiate the appeal…10 years after the case was filed. Pure harrassment and virtue signaling by the States’ Attorney’s office. I, also, noted a paragraph in that story where the author tries to taint the recovery as eating into property taxes and costs to the average citizen….(perfect example of editorializing within a supposed news story).

The overestimation of the property value was done by Cook County, not Trump.
Zero problem with my comprehension. The TDS’ers want it both ways … they want Trump to be a FAKE Billionaire. That his properties aren’t worth what he says they are … and *gasp* … that he sold a FL property for a hugely inflated value … to a RUSSIAN Oligarch buddy of Putin. OMG!!!
But then, Cook Co. INFLATES the value of his property … so they can squeeze the maximum $$$ tax dollar $$$ out of his hide. And Trump is under State of NY investigation … for underpayment of taxes (among other things). That Trump used fraudulent property appraisals to evade taxes. Too much, too little. Up, down. TDS – flail … TDS – fail.
The TDS’ers want it both ways … and literally stumble all over themselves going both ways.
After years of investigation about Trump’s taxes the best the IRS came up with was undeclared taxable fringe benefits for a few senior employees.
As someone wisely pointed out: “If that’s all they have, Trump ran the cleanest development organization in New York.”

I’ve watched … up close and personal … while our accountant created an “alternate” set of books for the Auditors sent by our Equity partners. Nope … they didn’t find the theft in the first pass … but they DID eventually find it and eviscerated my employers company
