    2. I don’t see the Stampede advertised on CTV, CBC nor Global in Calgary on my system. On Telus Optik TV the Stampede is featured on channel 912 on Sports Net One, it has the rodeo daily at 1pm MT. This Sunday, the 18th it is from 1:30 – 4:30 MT.

      P.S. Was at a public place waiting for an appointment today and saw some Stampede events on Shaw Cable, I think it was on channel 25, not 100% sure but it was definitely below Channel 29, which is CNN.

          2. Yes. This year the chuckwagons are NOT running. In Calgary, anyway. They apparently are doing some of their other stops like Ponoka and Strathmore and Medicine Hat.

    3. I’ve watched some of the Stampede on Bell here in SW Ontario. One thing I noticed was the, maybe, half-full stadium. So sad.

      I have wonderful memories of the Calgary Stampede. When our daughter was six years old, we went to Alberta for our summer vacation and we stayed with my Aunt in Calgary. We all went to the Stampede and as we were sitting in the stands watching the rodeo, an official approached us and asked if we would like a chute tour. It was an incredible experience. They gave us disposable cameras and took us behind the scenes. We met the cowboys and the livestock and then watched all the action from the chutes. What a day!

      1. It was smoky when I left Fort St. John Wednesday morning, though I left most of it behind by the time I got to Whitecourt. Now it’s reached Edmonton.

      2. I don’t have a tv either but because I’m visiting I get to watch the Stampede. SN1 and the cowboy channel both carry it.

        Liz: thoroughbreds are bred for only one thing – to run, as fast as they can. They live to run.

        Once their career on the track is over and they are not going to be used as a breeding horse they end up in the utility market. They might still have value as a chuck wagon horse.

        Few horses are as well cared for as a wagon horse or rodeo rough stock for that matter. Do animals get injured doing what they are bred to do? Certainly they do, so do human athletes.

    1. The reason to cancel the purchase of the fighter jets is totally asinine but I do agree that at this stage of technology, your just buying a piece of equipment that will be vaporized in a first conflict situation.
      Between smart missile systems and drone technology that can fly faster than the human body can withstand, they are obsolete.
      Our military needs a total rethinking on what we need to do so that it would be a deterrent to try an invasion on our shores besides having the protection of a vast ocean expanse that takes a great deal of energies and money to try it.

      1. The military capital is in the pilots. Whatever fighter they have is irrelevant. What is the largest number of fighters we have had in the air in angry situations in the last 76 years? My guess would be about 12. If we lost them all, that’s 12. That’s about what we wrote off each day in WWII.

  16. I can see Ontario Premier Ford get slapped back into following the narrative at all costs on this vaccination policy.
    The media and other Ontario politicians want mandatory vaccinations and vaccination passports but Ford stated that he believes in the freedom of choice and will not force people into taking this vaccine should they choose not to.
    How dare he break with every other politicians policy!

Each cost at least $500,000 per year when you factor in salaries support staff, travel expenses, constituency office etc. Considering the population of Canada we should have no more than 140 MP’s 10 for each province and territory. The government is controlled by a select few in the front benches while the rest are no better than door stops. The savings per year would amount to $109,000,000. The majority of Canadians would not be affected by this change
