Is Cuba finally reaching end state communism?

Videos uploaded to social media appear to show demonstrations in a number of towns and cities, including the capital, Havana, on Sunday. Protesters, chanting in Spanish, said they “weren’t afraid” of the regime led by Miguel Diaz Canel, and said they wanted access to COVID-19 vaccines and an end to communism.

It comes amid reports of gas, electricity, and vaccine shortages across the Caribbean island nation. Some analysts noted online that Sunday’s demonstrations are the first time that so many had protested the government since the Maleconazo uprising in 1994, which prompted a number of Cubans to leave the country by boat to the U.S.

Wait and find out, I guess.

      The Cuban people are watching half of Central America literally WALK across our border and immediately go onto all of America’s welfare support systems. Yeah. They WANT all the FREE SHIT the stupid half of America is willing to give them. America is getting overpopulated to the point of total collapse.

      My advice to the Cubans … “yearning to be Free” … Hurry! Get here quick … before it all collapses and turns into a shithole worse than you are protesting against.

  7. There are only a few things I have learned that I am quite certain of.

    Bitter clingers, gonna cling. Bitterly. Hard.
    The only lesson we can draw from history, is that no one learns from it.

    They may “end” communism for a few years, but it will be back in a generation or two. Maybe only a few years.

    1. Speak to any Cuban exile, and you come away understanding they know all about communism, from living a hard life under it.

      Biden will do everything he can to prop it up, but if it somehow falls, everyday Cubans will never bring communism back.

  10. Remember, the socialists, fascists, communists kill people, just a collateral damage, nothing to worry about. Shutting down the communications will shut down the truth except perhaps CNN, MSNBC, those will be able to take pictures and edit the bad parts in the mostly peaceful mode. It’s what those assorted ‘ists do, its their purpose in life.
    While the Cubans can be cheered on, change will not come.
    Change will only come from within the rotting communists. Look at the history and learn. Only democracy allows change of government even by violent means.
    Communists don’t allow, they will repress. They will kill if they have to.
    The change must come from the communist quarters by agreeing that communism is a dead end, it destroys people, without fail, 100% of the time…
    The communists must admit that they suck and change.
    Will they?
    Don’t think while the likes of Soros, other rich socialist aristocrats and the ruling class of the United States of America have the upper hand.
    Canada while supporting the Cuban communists does not count, could not control a grey cup riots, completely irrelevant.
    Maybe the idiot in charge will put on new socks, that’s about it.

    1. Interesting way to look at it. Change can “only” come from the sources that are known. Change can “only” come from within. How high does the level of disaffected people have to be before the walls of imposed silence can be overcome? So long as the disaffected can be silenced (or worse, killed), how can change occur?

      1. When the communists admit that communism is a complete and utter failure for conducting human existence.

    One clip circulating on Twitter showed protesters overturning a police car in Cardenas, 90 miles east of Havana.

  17. I’m old enough to remember the Mariel boat lift of 1980. Thousands of Haitians and Cubans fleeing the machine guns in their messed up nations and either falling gratefully onto the welcoming sands of freedom on the Florida coast, rescued by the US coast guard, or sadly meeting Davy Jones.

    Fortunately nothing much is happening in Haiti right now.

    If this repeats 41 years later I have some questions:

    – Given that the Cuban-American community is rich, powerful, and much more politically monolithic than the Central and South American Latin American community, should we run a clock on how long it will take for Ms. Harris run to the coast to try to avoid a Desantis thumb in the eye? I’m sure AOC is bleaching her white chain link fence parking lot outfit, preparing to fall to her knees in the sands raging at the heavens (in perfect lighting).

    – Geopolitically will grandpappy Joe put down the ice cream long enough to intercede in Cuba (but not Haiti or Venezuela)?

    – Trudeau has a stabilization play here, Haiti has asked for foreign troops (American), I’m certain a mostly bilingual bunch of Canadian Forces, RCMP, and medical teams generally won’t engage in making matters worse. Do you think Trudeau would consider it? LOL I’m sorry, I forgot we are no longer a nation, it’s an election year, and there are so many teddy bears to fondle amid the ashes. I’m sure it’ll be Harpers fault and Haiti will be left to some rapey troops from closer to the equator.

  21. This is very upsetting news…where I’m I supposed to go for dirt cheap holidays in the winter?… I will miss giving my old sneakers away to all those happy Cubans just wanting a souvenir from Canad’uh.

    My fellow Canucks join me in a petition to stop this travesty. Save your cheap sunny winter vacation…we have the power, we already travel there in large numbers year after year.
