Still Too High

Reuters has an interesting new roundup of the news world.

Canada is on pages 118 and 119. Apparently 45% of us still trust the news. I haven’t had time to go through it but have a look and put anything interesting you find in the comments.

It’s actually worse than 45% more like 60-70% when you look at them individually.

  1. No surprises here, this is Canad’uh after all…FOX news being the least trusted tells me all I need to know about my fellow sheeple comrades…hurray CRTC!

BTW, the American population is the one who least trust their MSM…26% only…there is some hope left.

    1. The only reason I voted o’toole as leader of the CPC was because he promised to defund the CBC but the two faced rat has gone very
      quiet on that promise.

      1. To defund the CBC would mean the apocalypse in Quebec, Radio Canad’uh is very popular in the French satellite nation who are kept mostly in the dark (on purpose) when it comes to the rest of Canadian news…it keeps them in perpetual solitude navel gazing. Radio Canada should be renamed Radio Quebec because they only talk about regional/Provincial stuff.

The only way to kill CBC is to keep financing it’s French version which would totally be unfair but not unusual to the rest of this sorry excuse of a country.

        1. Metalguru… You are absolutely correct.
The CBC caters to french speaking Queerbek, in fact if the so called “English version” of the CBC was to adopt the same “ethnic agenda” as the fwench CBC, in other words if the English CBC was to program its TV and radio services with a mind to please English Canadians exclusively the same way they serve and program the ‘fwench version” it would be quite popular but it would also be labeled as, “racist” or “white supremacist”.
The thing with this warped mind fuk of a country is that what is ok in one part of the nation ( Queebek ) is not allowed in any other part of the country ( ROC ) and would be considered “racist”, bigoted” or even, “white supremacist”… In Queerbek its labeled as, “protecting culture”… you know, protecting a culture by destroying the culture that preserved and nurtured your fwench culture.
Its important to remember that all these “rules” were made up by and for fwench speaking Queerbekers.
English CBC is run by secretive, corrupt, unaccountable Canada haters that force feed Canadians a steady dose of Peeair Turdhole style Communist propaganda day after day year after year.
English CBC is a french speaking Quebekers idea of what constitutes, “Canada”, and fwench CBC is exactly the same.
One CBC caters to its one audience exclusively ( fwench speakers ) and thats why its popular and one CBC ( Fringlish ) is a schizophrenic mental case run by commies, socialists, perverts and historically illiterate Canada haters.
Frankly I’m surprised the crooks that run the CBC haven’t destroyed all of the historical English content the same way the RCMP destroys their files on Canadas second Communist PM, Peeair the Turdhole. I’m sure they”ll get around to it.

          1. Also English CBC Is so Toronto centric it never served the western provinces, in fact sneering is the word…even what they produce for entertainment for the west is so contrived and actually caters to the east instead…prime example: Heartland…anti oil, unlikely ethnic oddities for an Albertan ranch, climate change messages, God never mentioned…CBC always sucks.

  2. Polls are no longer done to determine opinion. They are used like any other advertising to make opinions believable and acceptable.

Pollsters have many methods of ensuring the results desired to legitimize an opinion occur.
The poll sponser gives a crap about how the poll was conducted and only cares if the opinion makers convince the majority to believe it.

    So what of this “report”?

Out of all the media outlets that are “trusted” it’s the government sponsored ones that are more trusted than those non government sponsored ones.
Oh and big tech platforms are trusted even more.
    Now rinse and repeat.

And Kate, your observation is correct the numbers are much too high …. but not if you over sample the right respondents.

    1. Yep, and if you see the Reuters poll sponsors they are:

the biggest censors out there like the “BBC”, “Google News Initiative” and the George Soros “Open Society Foundation”…

Ha, ha, ha, … the most censorious clown shows on earth telling you how believable they are…or more correctly how often they occupy the LYING LANE and get away with it.

      Seriously…just wow.

      Cheers

  3. The most interesting stat is that Fox has the lowest trust rating even though it is by far, the most balanced and truthful. While the rest of the media was going full “anti-Trump”, virtually every negative story that came out of the “mainstream” media has now been proven to be false.

Oh….one more thing….this is Reuters which has proven itself MANY times to be about as dishonest as any media outlet can be.

    1. Actually, the Fox is an extra cost channel. It is very unlikely that those that complain about Fox actually subscribe or watch.
Two sons here, when I tell them I watch Fox, that’s why I think the way I think, they tell me. Of course they don’t know what’s on Fox, I tell them they have no case.
Suspect there’s where the trust or not comes, clearly opinions on Fox channel are completely 100% hearsay. They, the opinion makers don’t let anybody know that they don’t know if people actually have the channel or not.

      1. With Shaw one pays extra for Fox News and they don’t even offer it in HD. I hate this country.

  4. I see that Rebel News is 0%.

No wonder I was one of only two maskless men at the block long supermarket near my condo.

    Whoa, 70% for CTV.
I fully boycotted CTV (and all others actually) after watching Lloyd Robertson grinning like a cheshire cat as he announced that Jean Chretien’s Liberals had won the election.

    1. Surrounded by it, vowg.
I feel like I am living in a village full of low information idiots.

    2. One of my favorite lines I use…
“I may be crazy but I’m NOT stupid!”

Unfortunately many politicians fall under stupid.
And much of our society is ignorant and doesn’t want the truth.
Every time that I try, I get that, are you crazy look.

  5. I noticed on p40-41 that people on the right by a large margin thought news sources should be neutral.
The Lefty’s are so much the opposite its not funny.
My own polling has proven to me that they’re a bunch of losers who can’t handle facts.

The naivety of Canadians is no surprise.

    1. Buddy,
It’s funny…for most of my life I was a-policitcal without realizing it. As a result, I always thought news sources were neutral.
It wasn’t until several years ago (can’t recall exactly when) that I began to to tire of the coverage in my main source of news (Toronto Star).
Shortly after that I was exposed to sites like this and discovered how far left the MSM is.
I sti believe that news sources should be neutral but I know that is a fantasy that will never happen considering most of the media suck from the gov’t teat.

  6. Have some sympathy for me: my mother-in-law turns on the TV about 5am (takes pills), and turns it off about 9pmish. Of course, naps and etc. means she doesn’t watch all day (and “watch” is probably better because she’s also online at the same time).

Have to tell you, but a steady diet of CNN, MSNBC and a tiny bit of CanCon pretty much means that when she tells me she thinks Whoopi Goldberg is not only hilarious but one of the smartest people on TV, means she should be glad I don’t have power of attorney over her…

    1. Caligula, You have my deepest sympathy. I’ve said many times that unfortunately, you can’t pick your family……although, you do say Mother….IN LAW! Did your spouse keep her sequestered until you popped the question?

As an aside, I got a Father’s day card from my middle aged step daughter that said,
“Happy Father’s Day, I realize that we are not biologically related, but you’ve put up with my Mom’s shit long enough, so you’ve earned this card”.

      I’ve Framed it!

      1. Its funny, my late FIL was actually worse when it came to news watching. Hope they have TV in heaven (he truly was a great, hard working guy, just a little deluded) to see his hero Avenatti start some “hard” time. Seriously…that guy was TOTALLY gonna get Trump because…well, he hates Trump. What other skill do you need to have?

Yo do have to cut that generation (70s) some slack: they came from a generation that if it was on TV it was “true”, why else would the government allow it on? And when they see Avenatti on hundreds of times…they believe its because he’s “smart”.

Weird thing is, that’s ‘merican politics.

They both considered themselves to be conservative, Canadian politic-wise. Not a rare thing, unfortunately.

        1. Normal people aren’t lying scumbag trash so they don’t expect those in the media to be lying scumbag trash.
The normal people wouldn’t get on TV and lie through their teeth like the media garbage do.

There is no special talent or skill required to be a TV news person or newspaper reporter so to get to the top they just need to be more ruthless and greedy and depraved than the others trying for the top spot.

          1. Stan, that is a generous and accurate statement.

That’s also why normal people can be some easily trapped in a BIG LIE. We all tell lies betimes, esp. white ones; but most people simply cannot believe that a person would tell the whoppers that constitute BIG LIES.

          2. You’re wrong about there need be “no special talent” for TV news. They are highly groomed and professional, were the top of their class in delivering straight-faced baritoned “news” so believable, it was unbelievably Believable. Are they smart? Someone is. [They] don’t write trigger headlines nor smear cleverly by accident.

An old friend, a CDN professor now, relished in emptying known words of their meaning and retarding them, changing them to suit a radically different purpose entirely, always destructive of the current mode.

    2. “Be glad I don’t have power of attorney over her … “
Ahhhhahahahahahahahaha … you made me laugh. But if the entire world wants to “free” Brittney Spears daddy’s conservatorship … even though all the professionals have declared her mentally incompetent (reminding you that I had a son in the same situation, and Social Security made me his conservator) .

If the whole world is SO WRONG about B. Spears … including most conservatives and libertarians who are missing any proof of her mental condition … then there would never be a chance you could take legitimate control of your brainwashed MIL.

  7. Given the availability of all manner of news sources and agencies, the fact that Canadians STILL refer to CTV and CBC as their chief news sources shows their intellectual and moral laziness.

When the chips fall, perhaps they can truly say that they had no idea that anything bad was going on. They were too thick to look elsewhere for their news.

  8. Let me fix headline for you.
45% of those willing to partake in polls, still trust media.
Which is a slightly different thing.
For how many are still gullible enough to think Polls mean a damn thing,or that your opinion will even be fairly represented?
Polls with predetermined answers are Push Polls, caring nothing for what we think, simply being used to “Con-Salt” the public.
The “polls” leading up to the USA 2020 election were a demonstration of premeditated election fraud.
But gullible idiots ,now use them to say”They were right”.
    Can’t fix stupid.
    Well not legally,under current laws.

  9. I trust gas station sushi more than I trust news from the corporate media.

  10. Meh,on the ‘related’ subject.
I like many other TRUST the words of the federal government.
    yes I do.
I trust they will be dishonest, misleading statements.
    Lacking any truth or substance.
    I trust my government..
They will always be lower than I could imagine them going.
These fake Pandemic,Vaccines and the Glorious RESET are all such quality work.

Good Enough for Government is a standard I cannot sink to.

    1. The Capitol Riots…being the most peaceful that I have ever seen for the amount of people present at this type of protest and yet it was the media and Democrats looking for any description that would be the worst possible.
Hell, I have seen a innocent cop get totally snowballed and railroaded by the corrupted prosecutor and media backing terrifying the Jury pool of people visiting them if they chosen the wrong verdict including the politicians.

    2. Yep. But I believe the average cable package comes with CNN. To get a station with a more conservative perspective like Fox News, one has to pay for an add on package. You can thank the CRTC.
Remember what happened to Sun News?
This is probably why I believe.

      1. Twas the case with Shaw in Calgary but not anymore. All I had to do was rearrange my cable packages. So I chose the package with Fox and got rid of the one with CNN.

  11. The sad truth is the stats are likely low. The vast majority totally buy in. As long as the people on the public purse have full bellies, their beer and dope, and their public service pensions, their smart phones , and someplace to live they don’t even pay attention . That covers a large portion of the population. Not only that, but they truly believe they work harder and add more value than people working in the private sector. Even more astounding to me is the significant number of people I talk to who work in the private sector who also buy in. And they should be smart enough to know better. We need a famine. And when it comes they will have no understanding of what has happened !

  12. Shrug. In the next federal election a huge chunk of the electorate will either vote for the Party that handed out $600 million to the media or for Parties that remained silent while it happened.

  13. Watch this CTV news clip on Alberta nurse wage cuts. CTV claims nurses are middle of the pack wages in canada and shows a graphic with Alberta nurse wages in a middle lineup with the three territories and Canada average on top with all other provinces under. Of course nurses in the territories are going to make more!! But why are Alberta nurses making the most out of all the provinces?? We are broke.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9sL6AL6ffM

graphic is at about 1:10 into the video. Sorry for using youtubs

  14. Take a sensible approach to these results:

    1. They are being reported by a news outlet (Reuters)
    2. The biggest client base for a polling company is (drum roll)…the media.
    3. Said polling companies have shown their absolute inability to accurately reflect anything of late.

    Carry on….

  15. The Poll seems to be of the visual media not print. So why is Justin trying to ‘save’ newspapers ? I very much doubt younger ( than me ) people have the skill to read text and maintain their comprehension of static information. Flickering images with talking heads waving their hands in methodical patterns to suggest sincerity leaves the viewers pixilated. Yes Adrienne Arsenault, I do mean you; especially you. A windmill wordsmith.

  16. Here in Canada, it is quite clear that the conservative element of this nation is completely failing to get its message out. Canadians by and whole have already been thoroughly brainwashed. By a constant barrage of leftest propaganda from our media and education, that has been going on for decades. Your average Canadian doesn’t even think about this, and that’s how the left like it.
It’s disgusting, but it isn’t surprising.

  17. I trust these numbers about the same as the Presidential Election polls last summer. What are the chances the sample group wasn’t intentionally biased?

  18. RT = Russian Television. Not 100% on our side, but an interesting set of opinions. I get it on channel 505 Shaw TV. A little off the beaten track but they have some good little bits of information.

But Reuters seems to have never heard of them.

    1. When I mention to anyone that I occasionally watch RT, their immediate horrified reaction is “it’s Russian propaganda!! – you can’t believe anything they say – why don’t you move to Russia”. I’m well aware it’s sponsored by the Russian state, but what do you think CBC/CTV is, if not Liberal Party of Canada propaganda. BTW, I haven’t had cable/satellite for years, stream only via Roku or Firestick. Even radio news in Canada is “managed”.
