Provincial civil servants have already forgotten that Knothead served the union brass and not the dues payers.

It will. I live in Rotten Rachel’s riding. I was reminded of that when I walked to the Chrysler dealership to pick up my truck after I brought it there for servicing earlier in the week. I saw quite a few lawn signs saying “Protect Our Water” or “Protect Our Schools” or some such thing.
The people living in those places were likely Grant Notley-type converts to communism or never set foot outside of an urban area.
Within minutes of this RFP being issued, Alberta Institute had an on-line petition calling for the program to be scrubbed. It took only a few hours to collect more than 3,000 signatures. Not long after, the government obliged.
Minister Nixon “ only noticed the RFP” after it was posted.

Drones are banned in National Parks and all Wilderness areas in the U.S.
It appears that what we thought was a bastion of freedom in Canada in fact is the epicenter of state control over its citizens. I would think Prime Minister Fancy Socks would be proud of Alberta.
Any rotorcraft drone can be brought down by fouling the rotors. Christmas tree tinsel will do it if you can deliver it to the drone.

In the old days, it was quite easy to bring down a radio controlled model airplane. The transmitters were crystal-controlled and worked on specific frequencies. Co-channel signals could interfere with how the on-board receivers behaved and, sometimes, someone’s plane either crashed or went missing.
Then again, some 50 years ago, one had to have a license in order to fly those models, as dictated by the old Department of Transport. Since then, many, if not all, of those frequencies have been set aside by the government for unlicensed operation unless the radios happen to be transmitting in the amateur bands. In those cases, one has to be a ham to make it legal.
My father tried his hand at radio control airplanes for a while. I inherited his gear and I’ve worked off and on for the past few months to see if I can get the transmitter working again. It became waterlogged when the basement of his house flooded, so it won’t be a trivial task.

And those lowly “wildlife Officers” are hated by their administers,how come they get overtime..?
And of course the drones are more for spying on the Parks Staff,cause the office knows they have not been enforcing the laws as written,being decent humans and giving families grace and understanding instead of multiple fines..
