  1. And people think my old man violent tendencies are silly. Well, wake up.

    1. They may not be silly, but they certainly won’t help anything. Nothing will. Leather workboots on the way up, silk slippers on the way down. We’re much too fat, lazy, cowardly and complacent to actually do something. Heck, conservatives (and libertarians) deny or denounce their own fighters at the drop of a hat.

    2. I’m responding to your post VOWG because you; eat meat, own at least one firearm, are cisgendered, shoo children and strange pets off your lawn, never ever rinse and repeat, and consider Cardi B. a cheap hooker and not a singer.

On a more serious note … maaaaan am I glad I’ve never ever opened a fackebook account. Although it is annoying as hell that Amazon keeps sending me “building products” that I might like. And I rue the day I looked at a faucet on Wayfair … now they send me NEW faucets I might be interested in … 2-3 per day

      1. Kenji

Face book taps into yer life even if you don’t have an account with them. Or are you having a slow think day?

  2. My dear, now-departed father, used to say back in the good old days of the early 2000s, that the world wide web would be used as an instrument for social – and governmental – spying and control. We laughed and called him a wild conspiracy theorist.

    1. If you’ve ever watched “Person of Interest”, a character – a former CIA agent – talked about looking at people’s social media to spy on them. They would reveal more to their friends than the government.

      1. I’m pretty sure the gov’t know everything you or I have posted.

      2. See Kevin Mitnick. An OG of hackers, but basically admitted you didn’t have to be a genius to “hack” most companies, you just need to do things like show up at open houses, etc. and keep your eyes open. Ask questions, who works with whom, etc.

Ok, obtain an internal phone listing maybe, the phone and pretend to be Person A’s new secretary, can I get the password, boss is in a meeting, etc.

  3. Note that this is nothing special. This is what anyone with the werewhithal to place a targeted ad can do. We’re way, way past needing to be a hacker or a three letter agency. It’s street trade common.

    And it’s only just beginning.

    And there is no escape.

    1. Street trade common to the folk who buy into the silicon valley ecosystem.
I only use Google for videos (youtube), and I never get targeted emails, and I don’t use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of those BS services. I order stuff of Amazon or Walmart, sometimes. The worse I get is some general sale info from Walmart, or “Buy this thing you looked at on our site”. Maybe soon my data will be worth more than zero.

      1. You may not be interested in buying into Google, but that does not mean that Google is not interested in buying into you. Because you do not see your profile does not mean that it does not exist and is not growing.

The ecosystem is in your home, in your car, in the stores you shop in, in your bank and on the telephone poles you go by; and the data collection is still crude and primitive compared to what it’s going to be in only five years or so, because now it is so cheap and easy that everyone is just doing it for no other reason than because they can.

The data is collected by multiple entities, but what one of them knows, sooner or later they all know, because they trade it on the street.

        It’s a Brave New World.

        1. kfg, you get it I see. Had to tell my techy SIL, about 25 years ago about that.

  4. Last weekend, doing household chores with phone on kitchen table. Wizard of Oz playing on livingroom TV in the background. Later while visiting neighbor, open Facebook and see an ad for a Wizard of Oz table lamp.
    They are listening ALWAYS.

    1. “,,,open Facebook and see…”
Well there’s your problem right there.

      1. In the mid-late 1960’s, our father introduced me to science fiction and the work of Ray Bradbury. I especially enjoyed the novel (and then the movie) “Fahrenheit 451”. The hero’s wife is a brainless beauty who watches a television wall constantly in their home which has targeted ads for her information/amusement. Society has banned books, the hero is a fireman who burns books (paper apparently ignites at fahrenheit 451 degrees – hence the title).
A lot of what Ray Bradbury (and another – Phillip Dicks from the 1950’s) has come to pass.

        1. Clifford Simak’s City is another book to read that can be somewhat disquieting from the perspective of where we are now.

      2. Don’t forget the viewscreens in 1984. One of them undid Winston Smith while he was having his affair with Julia. The two of them were spied upon during their trysts.

  6. Mighty nice server farm ya got there. Shame if something happened to it.

  7. I love to trash the FBI in the comments section here, because they absolutely deserve it, filthy communists that they are. I’m sure I’ll get a knock on the door someday, even though I am not on Facebook, as Facebook monitors your activities anyway, most likely on behalf of the feds.

  8. My current project is to have a random google search every 10-30 seconds with 1 to 5 psuedo-random words picked for a dictionary, running 24/7 to drown out most of the useful data they might scrape….

eventually, I intend to do the same with GPS positions

    1. Yup.
That’s an idea that a Hindustani semi-pro bagpipe player like myself can get behind.
      Make their data mining useless.

  9. On that awfully conventional Evan Solomon’s radio show this afternoon, after he himself having said the vaccines didn’t pevent the disease or restrict transmission, although it did reduce symptoms, he sympathized with a caller who wanted domestic vaccination passports so he would not have to sit next to a dirty unvaccinated one in the cinema. Later in the show, he used the UK as an indication that the vaccine does stop transmission.

How do you argue with these people?

If you have been vaccinated against a virus, you should expect to be immune to the virus and it will not survive in you. So, sitting next to a dirty unvaccinated one in a cinema is not going to hurt you. Unless, of course, it isn’t a vaccine. And the unvaccinatede one obviously doesn’t care, so what is the point of this desire for medical apartheidt.

If it doesn’t provide immunity, what is its purpose?

    1. Robert

Precisely. I recall seeing Pfizer stating: these are: “TREATMENTS designed to reduce the severity of symptoms”. So….NOT a Vaccine…right.??

      Diamond Princess – USN CVN71: Combined crew / passengers ~ 10,000
Both Quarantined for at least 2 weeks.
      1850 Sick – 20%……..the remainder ZERO ISSUE.

Math is simple: 80% had previous IMMUNITY to this virus and most likely every “variant” thereof.

Those that have been inoculated have ZERO Immunity..and are increasingly getting SICK, getting hit with severe adverse reactions & Increasingly DYING.

Side Note: I Believe the use of the term”variant” to be 100% DIS-Information..a Sleazy way to squeeze some more FEAR PORN out of what are essentially Mutations that had to happen IN SITU of ones IMMUNE system…IOW – BULLSHIT

I just cannot wrap my head around folks who are Well under 70, pissed they cant get their shot for a viral agent with a mortality rate of 0.14%.

      MADNESS…

      1. USS Theodore saw the same numbers… they calculated about 100% exposure among those on the ship yet only 20% infection rate.
I’ve also read that they tested some of those 80% and found no antibodies for Covid 19.

  10. Well all that is missing is the
“social score” , but with the likes of Trudeau at the helm , not long.

  11. Facebook started out as a government (((CIA))) program concerned with consolidating and tracking every available data point in a person’s life. On the same day funding for that program was terminated, the whole shebang was turned over to our friend and benefactor Lizard Boy.
