Well I was wrong. Rock My World beat Medina Spirit early in the year, but not today.
I never liked his front action, and his one victory on dirt wasn’t preparation enough for a 19 horse field from an outside post. I would have bet Hot Rod Charlie, was cheering for underdog Super Stock because of the Asmussen family angle, but you should never count out a Baffert horse in the big show.
I was betting against my niece, and SIL. My niece raced Polo Ponies in Florida where she lives and her Mom, my SIL is very famous in Canada for Endurance Rides she brought the sport back from nothing in Canada. And judged horses at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Still rides at 87 years old. I got bucked off 6 years ago at 66 and broke my arm in 2 places still not right. SIL picked Hot Rod Charlie. The gentleman’s bet was for 1 oz of silver physical to be paid out to niece’s granddaughter. So the 3 of us will do the Triple Crown. Preakness and Belmont. Medina Spirit barely won. My long shot Mandoulan was in the money and the SIL picked Hot Rod Charlie. So next stop Preakness for the amateur betting syndicate. I am up against two very experienced horsewomen. But like they say in a horse race anything can happen.
