Hell No

How bad does an idea have to be before even the police decide they’re not going to be enforcing it? Matt Gurney has started a list of Ontario police departments that won’t be going along with Ford’s Covid crackdown. As of this morning six have said no.

Here’s the thread.

Update- 37 out of 44 now

99 Replies to “Hell No”

  1. This system was already broken being a square peg as Ford is trying to jamb it into a round hole.
His advisors were shit and every one expecting this lockdowns would only be a month…and another month…and another month to get back to the same old(which was already broken).
So rather than adapt, deregulate and change this. He went all in to break it even more.
Burned out the health care workers and still not change this system and now even the cops are fed up with this added floating rules and regulations that they’re supposed to enforce.

    1. His advisors were shit …
      ?
Or are his advisors progressives? With Ford and O’Stoole’s recent decisions, it seems likely they are taking advice directly from the Liberal Party War Room. Tin foil? Maybe, but this level of self sabotage … at minimum … shows there are no principles underlying any conservative leadership in Canada.

Note to Canadian conservatives, and many republicans. “Conservative” isnt a sticker you put on a car. Clearly define yourselves before we define you.

    2. Maybe. But do you think these same Forces would not have followed the ChiCom’s Black Faced Boy Wonder’s emergency order if he had delivered it? Or, if Kathleen Loser had delivered it?

Do we have a Commander of the federal police force that would be this convienently anti-political? I hope so but I’m still looking for the evidence of that.

  2. The only police force that matters, will be enforcing it. The O.P.P. In fact, they have now set up roadblocks on all points of entry into Ontario.
A statement from the OPP .

The OPP will have members located at interprovincial points of entry by road to screen all vehicles beginning Monday, April 19, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. ET/CT-Manitoba time. Those not travelling for essential reasons will be refused entry. There are exceptions for work, medical care, transportation of goods and the exercising of Treaty rights for Indigenous persons.

Under the updated orders, police have the authority to ask individuals and motorists who are not at home their purpose for leaving home and to provide their home address.

      1. Crap, how do I get my ciggies and cheap gas now.

Fook the OPP and the horse they rode in on.

Canada’s Ontario goes for a police state in the name of Covid suppression
    By Thomas Lifson

A new police state has been established just north of the states of Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. The Province of Ontario is home to over 38% of the population of Canada and is 55% bigger in area than the State of Texas, and it is now acting like a nightmarish police state.

    CTV News reports:

The Ontario government is giving police temporary powers to enforce its stay-at-home order and allowing them to stop individuals and vehicles and ask their reasons for leaving their homes.

Solicitor General Sylvia Jones made the announcement Friday afternoon as part of the new measures introduced by Premier Doug Ford’s government to stop the further spread of COVID-19.

“We have made the deliberate decision to temporarily enhance police officers’ authority for the duration of the stay-at-home order. Moving forward, police will have the authority to require any individual who is not in a place of residence to first provide the purpose for not being at home and provide their home address,” Jones said.

“Police will also have the authority to stop a vehicle to inquire about an individual’s reason for leaving their residence.”

So much for freedom of movement or assembly. Unless the police deem your presence outside your prison cell home essential, you could be in for trouble.

Those who will not comply will be issued a ticket, Jones said. The province has not provided further details on possible fines, but she said under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, penalties for non-compliance are set at a minimum of $750.

I find the excerpts from the news conference announcing these changes deeply troubling, just looking at the faces listening to the tone of these authoritarians as they try to justify their seizure of power over the details of ordinary life. George Orwell would recognize them:
Ontarian police and local authorities are not necessarily enthusiastic about exercising these new powers to detain citizens and examine their motives for daring to leave home:

A spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service said they are reviewing the new orders.

“Prior to any change in our enforcement strategy, we will notify the public on how we plan to implement the new provincial orders,” spokesperson Allison Sparkes said.

Several police services have said Friday that they will not be randomly stopping people. They include Waterloo Regional Police, Peterborough Police, Guelph Police, London Police and Ottawa Police.

Toronto Mayor John Tory expressed his concerns over the new police powers, saying in a tweet that he will review the regulations carefully and will discuss them with the medical officer of health and the police chief.

Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie also said stopping people arbitrarily “is not how we get control of the virus.” She added that she will speak to the chief of Peel police and public health to look at how it will be enforced.

It sounds as if the provincial authorities are drawing their inspiration from China’s early response with drastic lockdowns. At least so far, they are not discussing welding doors shut to trap people inside. They might also consider the disaster across their own border in Michigan, where Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s drastic lockdown regulations have led to one of if not the worst problems with Covid in the United States, while free states like Texas and Florida do much better.

I’d be a lot more impressed if, instead of trying tom keep people indoors, where the virus spreads far more readily than outdoors, they focused in early therapeutic intervention in cases of Covid, using Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine, both widely used and relatively benign pharmaceuticals, that inhibit reproduction of the virus and often have been shown to slow and even stop the effects.

    1. As an aside, it’s good to see another ham on SDA. I’m a VA6 in DO33.

        1. I’m in Edmonton and DO33’s my grid square. (Yeah, I confirmed that your callsign was for real by looking it up on QRZ.)

I haven’t been on the air much in recent years because I’ve been busy with settling my father’s estate in Fort St. John (CO96). Now that the weather’s improved, I want to try for the satellites again.

I plan on making my trips with my truck, so I might take some radio gear with me and try working HF from some rare grid squares.

          1. As you could see on qrz I’m quit active and enjoy haveing qsos.
            Just plain old rag chewing.
No dxing. Just talking with new contacts or the same old bunch.
            My relaxing getaway.
40, or 17 meters thru the day and 160 at night.
I really really love my Mosely Yagi for 40, 20 and 17 meters, and also my new Anan SDR 7000dle mk2
We should setup a sked for either 20 or 17 meters.
            73,DJ
            VA3KBC

          2. I’d have to leave town to work HF. I’ve got a lot of local QRM, much of it which appears to be from LED lighting, so I have to get away from it in order to hear anything. It doesn’t seem to affect VHF/UHF as much.

On top of that, I live in an apartment, so I have to be careful, particularly nowadays.

Considering what the government’s been doing lately, how long before it comes and impounds our radio gear?

  4. Hey look at it this way, the left have been saying for years that every conservative politician was Hitler. They had to be right eventually.

    1. Doug Ford is a progressive (closet socialist) not a conservative. Yes, I voted for him and I expected better and I will not be voting for him or his cronies again. And I informed him of my decision in an email.

      1. Many people feel the same as you. Ford support is sinking like a stone, He is making a mess of things.

        1. Ditto for me. Unfortunately the only way the Federal and Provincial Conservative Parties will get the message is to be wiped out in the next election.

          1. Same here.

Though I think Mad Max was right. It simply cannot be reformed at this point.

Conservative party has no conservative advisors.

        2. Well, one of my Trudeau loving, Trump hating retired teacher friends used to hate Ford, but admires him now.

      2. Many of us voted for seemingly conservative premiers, hoping that they, like Moses, would lead the people of their respective provinces out of bondage.

We were fooled. We were betrayed. Ford may have insulted those in Ontario, but Pallister was the first real turncoat, followed by Kenney.

    1. “There are exceptions for work, medical care, transportation of goods and the exercising of Treaty rights for Indigenous persons” From a comment earlier on.

    2. If you read the news feed properly you would have realized the Fououukking Treaty Indians are exempt
      Lest their feelings be hurt

  5. So when you have Wuhan flu variants named after other countries where they mutated – Brazil and Limeyland – then close provincial borders because that’s not where they’re coming from.

  6. Note that many municipalities full of liberals will not be enforcing this edict, but the OPP, which deals with rural Ontario, which is mainly conservative, has embraced it with gusto. This is punishment for conservatives, nothing more, nothing less.

    1. Absolutely.
I can now forget about taking that scenic road cruise in the rag top to Haliburton.
Wonder if they will go after the boaters.
Was wanting to travel the Trent Severn this summer.

  7. I am glad to see a level of outrage. These are dumb moves that accomplish nothing healthwise and simply enrage people. What is Ford thinking? I don’t think he is thinking. He needs to implement reasonable lockdown as had been done and leave it at that regardless of additional push from Ottawa and bureaucrats. Personally, I don’t think lock downs accomplish anything, but enough people do, so some level of lock down makes it look like he is “doing something.” More and more restrictions are totally pointless. These latest cross a line. They need to back off.

    1. Or, he could open things up completely, like Texas did 7ish weeks ago. Lockdowns have been proven over and over again to not work. This is no longer about anyone’s health. It’s about bankrupting as many businesses and individuals as possible and making them reliant on government. Like you say though, people demand some level of govt intervention but I think they are small but noisy minority. Look at the charts for Texas. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/texas-covid-cases.html

  8. Here in Nova Scotia we have had less than seventy deaths, yet the goberment mandated today we have to wear masks in public place that we can’t special distance. Jesus wept less than thirty people with it and the bullies continue to take away our freedoms. I am done with this nonsense. I will not wear a mask out doors, and I don’t care what the fine is because I have no intention of paying it. These people are out of control fanatics-regardless of political stripe.

    1. I’m with you re: masks outdoors here in Nova Scotia. This is a province full of sheep and snitches though.

I feel awful for the kids, who are effectively now being told they have to mask up just to play outside. Madness.

What on earth are we doing, not just to ourselves but our children?

  9. If the Cancellor will not give up his emergency powers after the destruction of Grievous then he must be removed from office!

  10. Ford is apparently basing his decision on modeling (according to CBC.) Hasn’t anyone figured out these models are WRONG yet?

  11. Like EVERY Gutless sniveling PEMIER in the country, Ford like Kenney and Horgan, ALL Kissing Theresa Tham’s manly (_i_) and by extension, taking their marching orders from a Bill Gates co-opted WHO while Ignoring the 60,000 Drs and REAL EXPERTS who signed the Barrington Declaration. LOCKSTEP much.??

Nothing but DUMB Fking MONKEYS: Hear SFA – See SFA and sure as shit KNOW SFA….with a big dose of ARROGANCE while sticking to the globalist narrative by their leader the twats in the PMO.

All still using a fully discredited test Procedure: PCR

None Using or even considering the use of PROVEN Prophylactics: Ivermectin and HydroxychloroQuine.

ALL-In 100% on the same INSANITY of Ventilation and Intubation..(seems to kill folks just fine right.?)

All perfectly willing to kill off our Elderly as they stuff supposed “Cases” into Long term Facilities.

All still adamantly using the DISPROVED (History does not lie), tactic of Quarantines and Lockdowns & Mandatory Mask wearing.

Yet not one GOVT PAID Health Mouthpiece has said ANYTHING about the Absolute IMPORTANCE of Vitamin D intake along with Vitamin C w/zinc. Ignoring that damned well on PURPOSE…??

What I see on that twatter thread is a lot of whining over essential workers not getting FREE money when they are tossed out of work due to …(Colds & seasonal influenza A/B..??). Yet NOT ONE of them saying the things that need to be said..SEE ABOVE.
    Socialist WANKERS the lot….(typical)

My trust in Govt is at an all time LOW…ALLGovt. ZERO

  12. I have always contended that every politician has someone they say “yes sir” to.
Is it public knowledge who holds the debt (directly and indirectly) of the federal government and every provincial government?

    1. “You know you gotta serve somebody, serve somebody…. might just be the devil, might just be The Lord, but you gotta serve somebody.”
      Bob Dylan

  13. I could say I told ya so but it wouldn’t make a difference. Stupid people.

  14. L – No institution is any better than the content of the character of the individuals who make it up. We see that in politics, law, the press and now, medicine.

“All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke

“All that is needed for stupid people to triumph is for intelligent people to do nothing.”- L

  15. I don’t follow unconstitutional, and therefore illegal, orders and neither should anyone.

      1. Maybe you would.
I’ve already put my life on the line for this country and its citizens, no issues doing it again.

          1. That ranks right up there with the most unintelligent responses to a comment ever, but then you are being consistent.

          2. OK, rob, looks like you need an adult to explain to you how things work:
You’re driving along, OPP cruiser puts on lights to pull you over.
            You either:
            1. Comply, or
            2. Ignore cop, or
            3. Accelerate and try to get away from cop, or
            4. Start shooting at cop.

2-4 will result in a radio call, cars converging on your position, and a description of you being broadcast, all in real time, 4 will result in you getting shot at as well. My guess is that you’ll comply.
Once you pull over, you can either
            1. Give your license, registration and insurance info to the cop.
            2. Refuse to give info to the cop.
            3. Start shooting.
If you choose 2, he will make an attempt to arrest you, in which case you can then go with 3, and hope for the best, like his partner being slow as molasses, or…get arrested.
            My guess is you’ll comply.
…and so it goes. So all you keyboard ninjas out there, well, wake me when I start hearing about the shootings, or pitched battles, and not protesters rebuilding RCMP barricades like the clowns in Calgary.

        1. Zip…MY Attitude 100%.
I served as well..and am utterly DISGUSTED with how “LIBERALISM” has corrupted this nation and its populace….

Sniveling submissive WANKERS for the most part.
Who in their right MIND would wear a MASK outside or in your own vehicle..?? As noted previously we are not dealing with aerosolized EBOLA ffs..!!
….well..I’ve been saying I’m exempt- no one has asked me yet from what..??

“YOUR Total BullShit and acquiescence to IMBECILES in MSM – Govt – Health Agencies & Big Harma

          1. Doesn’t mean the azz hats won’t use a plague or Ebola on us .
They are being nice to us right now using some fake boogeyman for their Great Reset.
Once they get rid of the Sheeple they WILL come for us rebels and not in a nice way.
            No reach arounds for us.

    1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

That is what Trudeau’s Charter has to say about your rights. In other words you have no rights in Canada.

    2. If you read the charter you will open your eyes and realize you have no rights. immediately below this sentence is the very first line of the Trudeau Charter.

      1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

Let this sink in, It says you have rights “subject to limits prescribed by law”. In other words, you have no rights.

      1. Jesus Rusty, I pointed that out the day it was shoved down our throats. It is a bullshit document, of lawyers, by lawyers, for lawyers. The non-constitution that we had before the evil Trudeau got going was just fine, we were protected from what is happening now by British Common law, I think there was even a Bill of Rights in there. Damn, Canadians are stupid.

        1. There was indeed a Bill of Rights. If I recall correctly, it was John Diefenbaker who authorized same.

          1. Indeed it was. I remember my mother saying that she hoped that Diefenbaker would win the election in 1962 because of that.

        2. Weren’t the Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms passed by Parliament without a quorum or was it because the PET Liberals had a majority in the House? I don’t recall there being a great deal of debate or discussion and I don’t remember the proles being consulted on the matter.

In other words, they were inflicted upon us and we had no say in the matter. Typically Canadian…..

          1. The late Senator Eugene Forsey was very critical of the Trudeau Charter. Unfortunately, he was rather a voice crying in the wilderness.

      2. “prescribed by law” means that there is actually a law on the books, passed by a legislature. It does not mean “prescribed by some asshole’s edict.” Mind you, it’ll cost you to have that come out in court. The process is the punishment.

      3. And section 32: Application of the Charter, states it only applies to the Parliament and government of Canada & the Yukon territory & the legislature and government of each province.
The rest of us…..not so much.

    3. Zippo, Canadians don’t have a freaking clue what freedom means or is all about. Massive civil disobedience is needed now before the guns are actually pointed at our heads. We need to make the government back down.

      1. That’s what I’m seeing here in my neighbourhood and town, most folks are going about their days as if nothing has changed. It’s nice to see.

  16. I don’t believe the Toronto Police Services statement…. they will start random stops as soon as Cruella De Ville gets done with them

  17. Wait the Police are actually NOT going to enforce something tyrannical?

    That’s a first

    1. Its only being enforced in rural Ontario, you know, where the conservatives live.

  18. If the provincial governments wanted to make sure these laws did not violate the constitution they would use “The not-withstanding” clause. Without the provincial governments using that clause the Constitution is still the supreme law of the land. Anyone have any idea why lawyers are not using that idea in Court.

    1. I’m pretty sure the “not withstanding clause” is the governments get out of jail free card after the supreme court has said something is unconstitutional. Until that time, the very first line of the charter states that your rights are “subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law”. In other words, you have no rights in Canada. It is very clearly spelt out in the blessed Trudeau’s Charter.

      1. Yes, one thing that people will hopefully understand after this Globalist Corporatist Fascist takeover is complete is that the Turdhole Charter isn’t worth the paper its written on, a worthless document that protects the State from the people.
So anytime one of these far left fascists blathers on about how “Canada” is so great because we have Peeairs Charter of Freedoms @ Rights they can then go fuk themselves.
Just another artificial construct of the Communist Turdhole Regime signifying nothing.

        1. There are more of US then there are of THEM.
” People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments, governments SHOULD be afraid of their people. “

  19. I still think we are going to be seeing foreign troops in Canada before the year is over. The more stringent the lockdown means the more enforcers needed to enforce it, and the reason the police refused these orders ie because they don’t have the manpower. And Canada is a large country.

  20. The entire “refusal” celebration hinges on the definition of the word “arbitrary”.

  21. I can’t wait to see the Canadian media twist when they react to the restrictions that Ford proposed with the exact some restrictions that Biden proposes.

Just like their reactions to Trump/Biden pulling out of Afghanistan.

  22. What we need here is a general strike.
Or at least a timely holiday for everyone, especially health workers and police.
    Doug Ford is a fascist.
At this point he and his cabal should face charges.
He needs to be run out of office and the province. This is over-reach of epic proportions.

    1. sub-urban, low IQ would be a better explanation for ford’s stupidity, cuz he’s pissing in the wind and getting himself wet!!!!

    2. There already is sort of.
The dump truckers are doing rolling protests now in and around the GTA pestering the Weight Scales.
      Good for them.

  23. What would it take to buy every premier in Canada.
    I’d say $50 million tops!
PLUS of course the chance of a sinecure in the NWO (new world order).

    1. No Dhimmi

A Contanier of 1ooo YEN Notes.
I’m betting that ship left port back in Mar April 2020.

They all went into LOCKSTEP at the exact same time

      1. That would be a container of notes each worth +/- cdn $11.50, shipped from Japan.
Japanese may be ‘asians’, and masks have been a common sight in Japan since before the Age of Covid, but Japan is to China what Great Britain is to the EU.

  24. Ottawa police will not be conducting random stops. That would at least treat people equally.

Rest assured they will only be asking for the papers of people who are white, speak English, and don’t live in Rockcliffe Park.

This is not the boys in blue refusing to card people. These are hired Trudeaupian thugs impersonating police officers.

  25. Will the “Peace, Order and Good Government” hammer be used to enforce ‘good citizens’ ?

  26. MEMO TO EVERYONE WHO THINKS THEY CAN CONTROL A VIRUS: YOU CAN’T. IT HAS TO RUN IT’S COURSE AND THE PEOPLE HAVE TO ACHIEVE HERD IMMUNITY THROUGH INFECTION. THE BOGUS VACCINES WILL NOT CREATE HERD IMMUNITY.

    1. Governments control people, using whatever pretext works best. Covid is a freakin’ windfall for them.

    1. When does he suspend the laws governing when elections have to be held? But we’re not living in a dictatorship, are we? Noooooooooooo….

  27. When are people finally going to realize that our only hope may lie in civil disobedience? (A general strike might be a good start.)

    1. I think you may be right, although I hope not.
Ford should resign. He has no leadership skills at all.

  28. Help me see the light here.

Ontario has 2 major hot spots, Scarborough and Brampton. This is where the demographics are primarily Indian, Pakistani, U.A.E. and others from that area of the world. These groups have been travelling back and forth to their home countries continually and the current return flights have many passengers positive with Covid-19. Does it make any sense to lockdown Ontario and other areas when this is happening? Flights also come in from world hot spots like Brazil and Trudeau removed the restriction of flights from these areas.

When your back door is wide open what sense is it to lockdown the front door.

    1. Absolutely right on target 80% of Ontario Covid hot spots are within 25_30 Kliks of down town Toronto. As long as Turdeau keeps the airports open to the travellers you identified the pandemic will continue unabated by lockdowns. Until these new restrictions were announced Ottawa had hundreds of Quebec commuters arriving every morning from a place that had the highest number of covid case in the country. Doug Ford should have concentrated on the above mentioned areas instead of placing the entire province under what seems like Martial Law, but that would have identified segments of the population who must never be offended and we all know who that is.

    2. It still is not not killing anymore people than the seasonal flu does or did, as there is no longer a seasonal flu eh.

  29. Ontario will backtrack on Ford government’s random stop laws: source
Civil libertarians and politicians denounced random stops as overkill

    National Post

  30. paranoia strikes deep
into your life it will creep
    starts when you’re always afraid
step out of line the man comes to take you away.

    Buffalo Springfield

  31. Ford has been browbeaten into submission.
Having no personal knowledge of viruses, pandemics and their prevention,he has relied on “expert advice”.
He has been maneuvered into strident overreach.
    Revealing his ignorance and panic.

He either forgot or he never knew that power brings responsibility with it.
Apparently unwilling to accept these responsibilities,he is now revealed as unfit to hold power.
It matter not whether the bureaucrats set him up or his political opponents played him for a fool,he is the Premier.
He is the power demanding “Imprison them all”.

His lack of personal conviction has exposed his spine as missing.
    Poll chasing is not leading.

    1. John, as I said up above, Low IQ, he should not have been the one to replace PatDICK brown clown

  32. So-called “3rd Wave” is just a distraction from the vaccination process. The B*stards!

Remember Israel? Where they were vaccinating like mad from December and inexplicably cases started rising again in a “3rd Wave”? That happened in many countries when they too started ramping up vaccinations.

It was a feature of the vaccines, not a bug:

” ……in the Phase 3 trial notes of the mRNA vaccine manufacturers. C19 infections were higher in the vaccinated group for an initial 7-14 days.
    ………..
I propose that the temporary immunosuppression (known to occur with vaccines) with the first shot is making people susceptible to natural infection as the virus is indeed circulating. They in turn could infect their close contacts. ”

Go read the whole thread on twitter (by Donald Welch).

    He absolutely nails it.

Ironic/hilarious that Bozo was forced to back down on both the police powers and playgrounds – hopefully golf is next, right?
