    Here in Florida everything feels reasonably normal….kayaking, biking, golfing….happy hour.

    I wrote to Doug Ford a month or so ago telling him how he was being held hostage by his “experts” and had abdicated his authority as CEO of the province to balance competing advice. He now looks completely absorbed by the Borg; a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome. I suspect somewhere, deep down, he still remembers who he was but the shadows of memory are drifting away fast.

      I would say that the travel bans and stay at home order go against the Charter of Rights.

      1. I was made aware of that while I was out of work during the early 1980s.

        I wrote some letters to certain politicians, including my MP at the time, explaining that no matter what I did, I wasn’t getting anywhere, remaining unemployed. The responses I received demonstrated to me that none of them gave a rat’s patootie about we, the great unwashed, including my MP at the time.

        That, and some subsequent events, put me off politics for the next 30 years. I would cast my ballots, but I made sure I spoiled them as none of the candidates represented or spoke for me.

  11. It’s weird to read the comments by people from Ontario (I’ll assume urban Ontario). Not only do they welcome restrictions and loss of civil liberties but they beg for more government punishment and rules. It’s truly bizarre how different they are from the people around here. People from urban Ontario are so docile and obedient that if someone stabbed them in the back, I’m pretty sure they’d apologize for bleeding on their attackers shoes.

      1. I think their are regional, age and population density differences. Case in point : Urban Ontario kept the McGuinty/Wynn Liberal government in power despite those politicians robbing them blind and lowering their quality of life for years and years. Saskatchewan people voted the corrupt Devine government out of power, put some of the politicians in jail and completely destroyed the Saskatchewan PC party. There’s significantly less tolerance for corruption here.

            But, objectively, there’s probably a reason Saskatchewan has the fewest restrictions despite fairly high case counts (fewer restrictions so far, at least).

    5. I have been railing on Ford and his idiot government for the last year that he has been conned by Trudeau. Nobodies listening. You are correct there are a good percentage who believe everything the criminal tv media and governments put out and agree that the loss of liberty is warranted. I have good friends and family that have been sucked in by all the covid garbage, you cannot talk to them any longer, they are lost. We have also met new and renewed some old acquaintances who also can add (covid is no more lethal than the annual flu) and know that this is about a lot more than the virus. The bug is a front to get the population vaccinated with totally unproven experimental products. I fear for the recently vaccinated, next winters flu season could be brutal to these unsuspecting people. All to push the agenda from the UN, WEF Schwab, Gates and a very long list of nefarious players. Control, population reduction, financial reset are only a few items on their agenda. Will people wake up to the scamdemic? Not likely they will until the crimes against humanity lawsuits start.

    I don’t envy our elected leaders, they are hearing all sorts of things from experts and getting a very wide variety of reactions from the public, half of them want even more draconian measures, the other half are fed up and tend to think this is all overhyped b.s. like climate emergency or the oppression of black people as evidenced by three bad cops and a nasty look in a parking lot.

    The first casualty of war is the truth. This is apparently a war by some group against some other group, the question being, who is fighting whom, and what is the end game? It’s very difficult not to see the connection between the overheated rhetoric of the left for many years before 2020, and the new reality in 2020-21. It’s also very difficult to imagine that the Chinese connection to the virus is entirely a natural or accidental circumstance.

    Change my mind.

    Doug Ford as part of this mix? Didn’t see that coming. When you prefer John Horgan to Doug Ford, you know there’s something up.

      No evidence,none at all,of any plan or even previous consideration as to how one could restart an economy.
      Pure,knee-jerk panic and hiding behind the experts..Experts in a very one dimensional way,if they can be called expert at all.
      The truth cannot be called a casualty here,for it was never present in the circle of our “leaders”.
      When all are lying,truth is in their actions.

      Like I keep repeating,The Dread Covid has been a revelation.
      Any Canadians who still believe government can help,are gullible beyond all hope.
      Most have still not figured out how dead “Free Healthcare” is.

  20. What is needed is a complete and total realignment of the political sphere.

    First and foremost, we need a citizenry that will do its job and stop abdicating its responsibility. We need a citizenry that will wake up and remind politicians that the authority that they use was delegated to them by its citizens. And, that same authority, if it is abused, can and will be removed from them. We need a citizenry who through careful argument will convince, but in the end, compel those who are in political office (and any who choose to stand for political office) to respect the fundamental freedoms and fundamental rights of it citizenry. We need a citizenry who is willing to reclaim its place as the arbiter of our democratic freedoms.

  21. These Wuhan Flu measures are probably coming to a jurisdiction near you. Why? Because to contain rising costs, all provincial government-run health-care systems invariably restricted the health-care supply. Historically, all ICU units in Canada are always running near capacity, a direct result of these cost cutting measures. As a result our fragile system cannot handle any increase in ICU or hospitalization rates resulting from the Wuhan Flu. Couple this with the cowardly behaviour of our elected officials, where they fear being blamed for even a single death could cost them votes, and the perverse idea that no one can die (6000 die every year in Canada from influenza across all age groups not just the old, 15 600 died from the Wuhan Flu in 2020, mostly in the 80+ age group which includes cases where the Wuhan Flu was not the primary cause of death ),and you get what is going on today. Can you imagine a Doug Ford or Trudeau giving the go ahead for the D-Day landings after reviewing the projected temporary break of bad weather forecast like Ike did, in spite of the pelting rain and howling winds outside. Corporate media of course contributes to this political malady, which is why you don’t get a practical solution.
    Add up the hundreds of billions of dollars spent, lives and businesses ruined, savings depleted, suicides and cancellation of non-elective procedures and surgeries in hospitals that will prevent future death due to early diagnosis, and ask yourself this. Would it have not been better to order a shelter in place to those vulnerable or at risk, until a vaccine rolls out to them, and spend 100 billion to expand temporary emergency health care, by hiring workers including the purchasing of ventilators and facilities to handle the influx. Recruit in the Red Cross, and Army if needed, and let Herd Immunity solve the problem for us.
    If only politicians had spines. Instead we get a solution which includes lockdowns whose costs to society are at least 10 times higher than the benefits.

  22. Pretty stupid. None of these measures have much impact regarding “cases”. People catch Covid from sick people — not from healthy people golfing. This is complete insanity. Ford has lost my vote. How is it that these people cannot figure out that they are using the wrong strategy. Lockdowns do not work!!!

  23. Been having this “discussion” with a sister the last couple of days. Completely bought the vaccine crap, hook, line and sinker, got vaxxed and then crowed about it. When I mentioned 99.4% walk away from Wuflu, plus a few other inconvenient facts, plus I’m not getting vaxxed, went all postal on me. I’m “small minded” and she has a “DNA specialist” on speed dial to back her up and I made her eat dirt when she was 5. She gave me 3 links, one was 404, one was Bill Gates influenced, one CDC Dr Anthony Faustus, or some such name. She lives in an eastern Province that shall remain nameless. I think she had a few when she wrote.
    I’ll just go silent in the end most likely, never to be heard from again.
    We had a nice sit out in the back yard today and watched folks walk by in the sun, in the park.
    Oh well.

      I absolutely will be counseling my children to get out of Canada when they grow up. There will be no future for them here. Find a rural area in a red state of America and go. Those will be the last bastions of sanity and freedom in North America.

  28. From my perspective in Florida, covid stories like this feel like an episode from the Twilight Zone. I rarely even think about the virus anymore, and I wear a mask only in church and shops, for a total of about 2 hours a week. I find masks extremely uncomfortable and barely last one hour wearing one. I’m in my 60’s and close to being in a higher risk group. Yet I have little concern about catching covid, and I expose myself to potentially risky situations like donating blood. I have now donated 4 times since the virus and have tested negative each time.
    If this virus was indeed highly transmissible, Florida would be a disaster. The amount of social and economic activity here is massive, with crowded stores and daily traffic jams. I did enjoy the few months where most people were staying home because I could get anywhere fast. I think that for most people in Florida, those scary times are a rapidly receding memory.

  30. My concern is the testing method is so flawed, are those people tested for covid really infected or did Ontario get a couple of bad batches of the testing strips? I read a link here yesterday that articulated that a lab tested 1500 samples that tested positive for covid and it turns out it was the Flue A and B not covid.
