Life in Rural America (which is where Republican Trump voters live and govern), is clean, safe and racially tolerant. Most places in America where life is dirty, polluted, dangerous, violent, and plagued with racial hate and race riots, are cities that are almost exclusively populated by and governed by Democrats.
Can’t argue with that. Pretty much echo’s the Canadian rural/urban thingee too.
The only caveat I’d add is that Canadian rural areas don’t become what you’d think of as small-c conservative until you get to the western half of Ontario. Everything east of that is not significantly less progressive than urban areas; just less populated and less in-your-face about it.
I concur. An ex-girlfriend’s parents lived on a horse farm in Erin, were hardscrabble working class most of their lives, and they were left-wing as they come. Went to see Bill Maher live at one point.

Maybe the lesson here is that human beings are not meant to live all piled atop one another in big cities, that human beings need some degree of distance and some degree of solitude, a balance between socialization and individuality.
But it’s so easy to control
the ant colonyhuman beings in large metro areas.Anyone who thinks that progressivism can be countered by sober second thought is dreaming. Conservatism is failing as it does not seriously counter the idealogical undermining of Western civilization. Much of what is going on is an extension of the cold war which the west claims they won but in fact simply won a battle and not the war. China and Russia simply pivoted and grew their undermining by gaining control of our education, media and unions. Combine all this with the ease of manipulating social media to sow discontent and the dye is cast.
Thinking that rural community or a geographic area like the West is immune is very naive. I suggest that in the next election the CPC’s dominance in the West will be broken as a significant number of conservatives will move to the Maverick Party or to the PPC. Trudeau gets his majority. Look out then but perhaps a necessity to galvanize the right.

I grew up in Fort St. John and I noticed that progressivism has infested that place as well in the time since I moved away after finishing my B. Sc.
It has its own annual “pride” parade. Along part of its main north-south street, many of the light standards have banners hanging from them with slogans such as “Diversity” and “Inclusion” on them.
It was largely white when I left. Now, the population is little different than what I see in Edmonton.
Most of the changes I attribute to Lotuslanders who wanted to escape the Lower Mainland but neglected to leave their attitudes behind when they moved there.
Don’t lose hope BA, I see a similar trend here in the S. Okanagan. From my conversations with fellow residents, it is the same small % of woke idiots(many from the coast) pushing their societal idiocies while the silent cowardly majority keeps it’s heads down in an effort to stay out of the woke crosshairs.
It is certainly hard to tell how many conservatives and independents we actually have anywhere in BC these days because most of us pussies have spent the past few years hiding under rocks.
The only reason I noticed that about FSJ was because I’ve been frequently travelling there to work on settling my father’s estate. (Another trip coming up this weekend.)
I hadn’t set foot in town for many years, so seeing the town as it is now and comparing it to when I had previously been there (early 1980s), the difference was quite distinct.
While I was growing up there, many of the people were more closely associated with Edmonton than Vancouver. That was hardly surprising as Edmonton’s 7 or 8 hours drive away, while Vancouver is close to double that distance.
I noticed that changed over the years. I’m sure much of it has to do with a few treaties with the natives in the area, and the associated groups now have some of the fanciest buildings in the downtown area. A lot of the government workers who come up from the Lower Mainland are there on behalf of the Indians.
It has always been that way in history.
There was a time in the past when the ruling class in Britain was speaking only french.
That they still talk english is only due to the rural and small town population where french never caught on.
It will be rural America that will save the day, though as it appears, there will be flowing a lot of blood.
The rulers have the military, the people have the guns.

The (leftist) government has already noticed … and they’re coming for you!! Here in the State of CA, we are only one session of the supermajority leftist Legislature away from losing ALL single family zoning throughout the State. There are TWO House Bills waiting for a vote that will eliminate single family zoning. The stated purpose is to “build more housing” by allowing up to 8-units!! on each existing single family parcel. The whispered purpose is to “add some color” (and poor people) to the clean, safe, (white) suburbs.
And the current hard leftist Xiden/JoeBama Admin. have similar NATIONAL HUD Rules leftover from the Obama Admin … ready to do the same to our entire nation.
Oh yeah. The leftists have noticed how sweet life is in the Suburbs and Rural America … and they’re PISSED !! They’re gonna FORCE high density living on us … as soon as they can. And it’s every apartment dweller against every single family homeowner. Yes, we are dramatically outnumbered. The smart thing to do is to move FURTHER from any population center … as FAST as possible.

Let me add a Chinese slant to this story as well … ? … pun? What pun? I’m no racist.
I was doing work for PG&E during the 2009 housing meltdown. I was helping PG&E eliminate housing, garages, etc. that were illegally built over their underground gas line ROW’s. Yeah, it was amazing just how many structures encroached on their easements. When I worked on parcels in the Silicon Valley, I needed translators to communicate with FOB Chinese nationals who owned many of these homes. And every one of these single family homes had been illegally chopped up into 6-8 separate units … each with their own front doors. Seems the new ChiCom citizens had no inkling about SINGLE family zoning. And yeah, they were collecting up to $2,500/unit for each of these 1-room units.
And no … the local city zoning and building departments did nothing to abate these violations. They refused to “hassle” the newly landed ChiComs. And these new ChiCom residents used the “buy-in” clause for automatic citizenship. They spend $1.something Million on these dumpy homes in sketchy Silicon Valley communities (East of the 101) … calling themselves Real Estate Developers … and voila! They’re citizens! This is happening all over Silicon Valley. Newly minted ChiCom citizens … flaunting our laws and regulations (“me no understand”) and getting filthy $$rich. Remember that Warehouse Fire that killed 22 “artists” in Oakland? Yeah, the building with all those illegal units and illegal construction ? ChiCom owner. Nope. The city of Oakland wouldn’t dare enforce their zoning/building code/fire codes against a Chinese National. And people died. And no, the Chinese building owner has STILL not been held accountable (“me no understand”).
Now … who is racist? Me? For pointing out this deadly double standard? Or the leftist municipalities who allowed it all to happen ?
It’s becoming clear that the US laws are just a window dressing for the masses.
They are hit with them if they don’t get down with the program, otherwise its a free for all.

I left Toronto for many reasons 19 years ago. One of the major reasons was the predication that the Greater Toronto Area (the triangle of Oshawa-Hamilton-Barrie) would be 10 million people by 2010. By 2010, the statistic was 9.8 million. Went back in 2015 for a wedding and was stunned at the immense size of Toronto. Friends would stay in their areas (such as the Beaches or High Park) and would not travel elsewhere. My thesis is that you put too many rats together and they start killing one another. It is not natural to be caged in high-rise towers whether for work or for home.
Oh, and it’s the self-proclaimed “tolerant” people who are quite often the most intolerant and willing to throw out insults based on blanket stereotypes. I see it frequently with northeastern US liberals who have no problem putting down people living in the southern states as stupid, backwoods, uneducated hicks or will disparagingly tell someone they disagree with to go move to the South because that’s where people more like them live.
Nobody hates like a liberal hates.

Urban Democrats and I guess urban Republicans as well send out foreign aid by the tens of billions (just shy of 40 billion in 2019) and ignore the 3rd world-like poverty of places like rural Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. I’d rather live there than Chicago any day.
