My respect for Mr. Barkley continues to grow. We met him, rhetorically speaking, in the public eye, as an outstanding athlete. He then educated the fawning masses that he wasn’t a role model, no athlete is, simply because of his/their athletic prowess. These days he has the confidence to be a real person, flawed sometimes, intelligent and sensible most times. I believe those who need to criticize him first, and there are plenty of them, simply lack the confidence to be part of the solution.

Barkley’s comment is a safe comment, a balanced comment implicating both parties equally, that doesn’t sit well with me.
Barkley would grab my attention if he were to start criticizing the Media, both Mainstream and Social.
If he were to ask aloud, “why SNL never once made fun of Obama’s bumbles and misstatements?” or “why did the Media make a fuss about kids in cages under Trump, but now there’s more than twice as many kids in cages under Biden,,, and the Media is silent about it?”
It’s the Media that needs the light shone on it, it’s the Media that needs to be revealed as the propaganda machine that it is.

I agree that most people of any race are good people, but Barkley could have added that there are some racists in all races, and all cultures.

What’s going on is a competition between elites. One side doesn’t get it (the nominal right) This always happens when you have diversity. Diversity + proximity = conflict. Politicians playing off that is not causing the problems in society, it is an effect of the problems.
Most people who hear that will talk about the nice Chinese guy they know or the happy Muslim couple down the road. But just like every other group, most people only interact with those like themselves. They get most of their ideas about how other groups are from those individual interactions they have. Just about every person I’ve talked to, whether they be Chinese, black or Arab will quietly admit that their group is actually the most “racist” group out there.
This is why trying to prove how totally not racist you are doesn’t work. Because they don’t actually care. The term “racist” is the knife they wield while demanding you hand over your wallet.
