20 Replies to “BAN PLASTIC STRAWS”

  1. It’s a sign of decadence when governments’ major preoccupation is plastic straws raher than the welfare of the country

  2. Well, I live in the middle of the NA continent so abandoned and discarded masks here don’t end up in the ocean. Neither do plastic straws, or anything else, for that matter. But masks certainly are visible litter on the streets in town, as are cans, bottles, bags of all types and a lot of other stuff.

  3. In related news, True North reports on masks being recalled in Quebec, that were distributed to schools. The masks are toxic. I wonder what country they came from?

      1. What about the micro fibers in these masks? Certainly we breathe them in. Will they have any effect like asbestos?

  4. Oh my…a classical Catch 22 for our Liberal scolds. Dismiss your long held shibboleths for the environment or have Pete the Puffin look like a total dork during mating season.
Hmmmmmmm…that is a tough one. Wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.
Alas, not to worry. The media will come to the rescue and dismiss it as outright nonsense with claims that most masks are incinerated or buried in landfills which of course brings up other issues but who’s got time for that shit?
We’re in a pandemic God Dammit!!!!

  5. We see discarded masks everywhere when we are out walking or running errands. As someone once pointed out to me, if the Chinese Plague is so deadly, why is there no concern about mask disposal? Why are they not being treated as medical waste? When I visited my doctor at the end of last year, the nurse replaced my homemade mask with a disposable one when I entered the office. When I left, she told me not to throw it out as it’s good for a few days’ use. Highly infectious, deadly virus, indeed.

  6. In England I saw a squirrel take a mask from a public rubbish bin (where it should have been!) and run away with it.

    1. Medical waste (which is what used masks and gloves are) should not be placed in a public rubbish bin.

  7. I see many discarded masks on my walks. I see little else in litter, other than some asshole not willing to look after his or her dog crap. I mean , after you have picked it up and put it into a bag, you can’t carry that sealed bag the rest of your walk?

  8. That was a great website link. Especially good was the “Not Antifa window repair” video

  9. I fish and shorelark Lk Ontario and find coffee cups and dog shit bags are easily double what I usually find while masks are the second most lost or discarded item after coffee cups from my observations.
    End the lockdown.

  10. The Media Whores have been howling for several years about all the plastic in the Pacific Ocean and why we need to ban plastic straws. I for one, have never thrown a plastic straw (or any other plastic for that matter) into the ocean. Interesting the “plastic floating islands” only exist in the Pacific Ocean. What about reports regarding plastic in the Atlantic Ocean? Nothing to see here folks. Could the problem be from all the Asian countries that barge and dump their garbage into the ocean? You’ll never hear the Media Whores howl about that.

  11. Those are rookie numbers!

Maybe that’s one way to twist their tails, toss old masks out in the street.

  12. Everyone knows that over 90% of the plastic in the Pacific Ocean comes from just 10 river systems, *all* in Asia. The only way that any of my recycled plastic ends up in the ocean is if it is shipped to China and they dump it in a river instead of properly processing it.
