Building Contractors, and all subtrades were about 95% white when I started in the industry in the mid 1970’s. It is now about 95% non-white. That’s a sea change in a relatively short period of time. Why did it happen? Cheaper and cheaper labor. Nobody could compete with someone willing to work for cut rate pay. And it is still happening (the immigrant price cutting). Kenji, just finished reading Warren Miller’s book “Freedom Found”. Different world as he describes growing up in California doing all the things we think Californians do like surfing then skiing. Wonderful life during those years and the wages and cost of things were astounding with pennies per gallon of gas. Always loved his ski films as we started each ski season watching the latest one.
Miller’s CA is the one I grew up in. It was a BEAUTIFUL place. But the State population has nearly TRIPLED !!! From 15M to 40M. And that doesn’t include the 10M illegals living in the State. In reality, the State’s population has MORE than TRIPLED.
