    1. Use Opera browser, it has a built-in VPN.

Great browser, used it for many years

        1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_(company)

          Yeah,t another Chinese owned company,since 2016.

“In 2016, the company changed ownership when a group of Chinese investors purchased the web browser, consumer business, and brand of Opera Software ASA. The remaining assets were renamed as the Otello Corporation.[37] The ownership change was initiated in February 2016 when a group of Chinese investors offered US$1.2 billion ($8.31 per share) to buy Opera Software ASA,[note 1][38] though the deal reportedly did not meet regulatory approval.[39] On 18 July 2016, Opera Software ASA announced it had sold its browser, privacy and performance apps, and the Opera brand to Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I Limited Partnership (a consortium of Chinese investors led by Beijing Kunlun Tech Co and Qihoo 360) for an amount of US$600 million.[39] The transaction for sale of Opera’s consumer business was approved on 31 October 2016 by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.[40] On 4 November 2016, Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I L.P. completed the acquisition.[41] After divesting itself of the Opera browser and brand, Opera Software ASA[note 1] changed its name to Otello Corporation ASA.[42]”

  1. Google “Canadian Inventors” and “American Inventors” and compare the images on top.

    1. “Even if it were a factually accurate representation of the world, it would be algorithmic unfairness because it would reinforce a stereotype…it may be desirable to consider how we might help society reach a more fair and equitable state, via either product intervention or broader corporate social responsibility efforts.”

That internet search was illuminating. As they say, they will lie and alter what is factual, but it’s only to “help society.”

  2. Social engineering, rather than giving people what they’re looking for.

DDG is my default, but I was surprised to learn one day that they use Google code behind the scenes. Don’t have the reference on hand, though.

    1. What duckduckgo does is proxy your searches to a variety of other search engines – including Google’s – while stripping out the info the back end engines use to track and identify you. That info is also what those engines use to present results that are most likely to be useful to you, which is why DDG kind of sucks as a search engine. But less evil.

  3. They also have the entire country of North American teachers recording your children on Goddgle class room. And not one lousy parent or teacher or politician says shit. They have you in the bag before you leave kindergarten. Hope you don’t ever need to run for politics or rock the boat, because everything is on the record on godgle servers.

  4. DDG is my default, though I sometimes use Google. For example, I’ve been looking for a low-cost oscilloscope and I’d like to know where it was made. (Try and find a brand new one that hasn’t been made in you-know-where.) DDG sometimes didn’t give me much information on the manufacturer but Google might have.

    1. PICOScope – made in the UK. Using a 2205 2-channel on a laptop. The software is nice, and you can even get most of the source. Linux, and Wintendo. Doesn’t run on PI as of yet.

  5. *

  6. So many people just don’t care that they are being manipulated and controlled. They blindly trust the government and the big techs who both give them what they consider to be ‘free stuff’. Your soul for ‘free stuff’.

The rest of us who know and do care, are waiting for some leaders to step up and organize our international resistance against the totalitarian elites of the Davos world as well as the local skunks such as ‘Joe and Ho and that fucking Trudeau.’

Politicians and the wealthy are all in some sick pursuit of power over others.

Words are not going to save us …. You can vote your way into socialism/communism, but you have to shoot your way out.

  7. I’m gone Google because an algorithm decides what is just and equitable based on confirmation bias and a societal snapshot.
It’s only “natural” as the context less ones hand over our freedom to algorithms to cover their fascistic self-serving worldview.
What’s next, predominately female nurses and librarians? No? The algorithm is a one sided equation. The final straw of illiberty.
Yes, let’s leave it to digital algorithms and their oligarchic directors to decide how to make the world a more equitable place.
But not equal because that could be measured and therefore evaluated empirically, something algorithms are good at.

Here’s a real life algorithm – tales of two nations:

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities.

  8. DDG on Brave Browser, noticed when using Braves private page with TOR and DDG that it tells you what country it thinks you are in, usually its Germany but sometimes Norway. Recently the TOR pages are slow to come up or have to be refreshed several times, I assume that they are getting overloaded.

  9. Their example is very funny, as there is a search you can do for american scientists, and half of them at the top are black. I have not done this recently, but it used to be there.

  10. If I know Google is screwing around with results, I go to Yandex.com. It’s amazing what you can find there.

  11. You don’t need to use ANY search engine if you just type the URL in…

Use a Favorites list and simply store your links.

All a search engine does is give you results tuned to some one one else’s indoctrination.

Google Happy Black Woman, then Happy Asian Woman, then Happy White Woman.

    Marvel at the results.

    1. “You don’t need to use ANY search engine if you just type the URL in…”

Kewl! Is there a place where I can find a list of all the URLs I’m going to want to type it?

  12. What is the source of this screen grab? It’s very revealing, but where did it come from? It is unlike the moderators here not to post a link in the main story.

  13. Their job is not to help you find information.

Their job is to collect information on you, to help their customers to take your money—and to help them destroy you if you ever pose a meaningful threat to their rule.

    1. If you’re not paying for it, you’re not the customer, you’re the product. Something soi-disant conservatives clamoring for more free shit from Big Tech seem to have forgotten.

  14. I rarely use google but I use google maps.
Frankly, I use whatever the fuck I want and assume I’m being manipulated at every window every time.

  15. DDG for search
Opera for Browser, but not their VPN.
Have been messing with Brave & also Dissenter Browsers
    Strong VPN
    Proton mail, for obvious reasons
Constantly trying to rid myself of anything to do with Google & any so-called MSM

  16. They are all gathering your info and making money off you. When you are using any social media you are in the AI matrix. It is the same standard brainwashing you have been getting everyday of your life from the day you started school, and then subscripted to all the networks, CBC etc. It is 24/7 Brainwashing and lies.
Edward Bernay explains. When the WEF announced the Great Reset and said. You will own nothing and you will like it, it’s true. When they declared a Fake Pandemic, and clamor for the needle no different. THEY OWN YOU. We are their tax donkeys, on the tax farm.

  17. I disagree. It depends on what you are looking for. You need to be precise in your search terms, and some search engines are better than others. I have been able to find pdf’s of books not available at Amazon by using Yandex. They probably also censor, but it’s a Russian search engine, so different censorship criteria.

  18. Once you know how the brainwashing works, it no longer works.

And if you’re tired of having search engines constantly trimming out their results so that the top few pages are always paid stuff, try the search engine MillionShort.
